  1. Good thinking. I'll try in my old Athlon desktop. I'll let you all know tomorrow.

EDIT: I tested again on my laptop with only Firefox and Sonic Stage open. No firewall, no antivirus. No other programs running.

7 full minutes to upload a 6:30 track. Shameful.

I'll try on my desktop this time. After I'm done uploading my last batch of SP-encoded tracks, I am sticking to HI-SP and PCM for the rest of my life.

  2. It had no tabs. I'll do the following. I will disconnect the laptop from the net, turn off firewall and AV, and shut down every redundant process. Then upload. And see what it does.

If no improvement, then I'll get rid of it and buy two NH700s or three NH600 (no D-models)

  3. Well, I just did a test, and it takes between 40 to 50% longer than real time. I tried with a 10-sec track, and it took around 14.5 secs to upload it. I disabled my antivirus, and only had firefox and Yahoo Messenger running at the same time on a 1.8 Ghz dual-core Centrino laptop with 1 GB of ram... 2X upload would have been dreamy.

    Ah...

    What a disappointment.

  4. Actually, I am importing in Hi-SP and takes close to 15 percent longer than real time to upload. I would have been happy if it was 1.5 speed, but I can't upload faster than 80% of real time speed.

Maybe by saving to wav it will avoid having to re-encode to HI-SP on the fly, which may be making it slower. I'll try both ways, so thanks for these, and any further replies.

Wizard, my computer is a dual core Centrino laptop, with full USB 2.0 and no hub in between.

  5. Topic says it all. I noticed sometimes it's close or even slower than real time playback. I am happy with the unit, but I was wondering if it's just my unit, the disc, or if it's normal for this model to upload that slow.

Please let me know, as it may impact my decision of keeping the unit, or selling it and getting cheaper HI-MD units for my project.

  6. WAIT...

That happened to my old SR60 as well. And that was because the head was misaligned. I managed to get into service mode and force it to auto align the reading head. Unfortunately, that was over four years ago, and the link that explained what did what is gone from the net.

  7. Clear and easy communication, rapid delivery, everything works, looks just as described. Good, fair dealings with Syrius. I wanted another NH900 since right before Thanksgiving when my old one went kaput. Thank you.

Back at you. Thanks for your prompt payment. Hope your new MD units give you as much service as they gave me.

Happy to deal with this member, folks. Happily recommended.
