I have yet to see a single DVD-A available for purchase around me. Companies should face it. Who wants to pay 20 dollars for Hi-fi multichannel audio.. when they can get crappy songs at 128 kbps AAC on I-tunes for 99c. Sad but true.

I thought the I-pod was the dark side: Easier, more alluring. More tempting... Shoot.. the I-Pod *is* the Dark Side!

Erm.. Xenosaga had excellent voice acting and localization. Same with FFX and FFX2.. of course, if the game is not text-intensive, bring on the japanese games.

I'd get a home deck all right. That can both record, upload and download. With SP-upload ability. Oh yeah. Professionals would buy it. 350, 400 dollars intro price. Though I'd settle for 250. Because a Y-Cable between an NH900 and a Marantz receiver looks just plain tacky. Not really sure about the car. This would be a playback unit only of course. Which could make it low-price. It sure would beat having to fiddle with your unit while in the traffic, yeah.

XBox had that idea too, but left it to the developers, who region-locked most games. In fact, 99% were locked. Most portable consoles have always been region free. Sony must have seen that it actually benefited them after releasing the PSP. If there's no need to hack or mod the system in order to play legal import software, by extension it also prevents and discourages the use of such mods to play bootleg software. Kinda like when there's no point in spending 5 or 6 dollars to rent a movie, rip it, and burn it when you can buy it for 12 or 15.

I think that I hate you. I'm unemployed right now and feel I got turned down for a job offer today. I want my mommy. *edit* Yeah, I was just being sarcastic, man. But you replied while I was looking for the right smiley. I can't really hate you because you got a set of nice wheels. Enjoy it. You've had your share of calls from idiot people ("What's the number for 911? "Why does my internet need electricity to work?" "You mean I have to turn on the computer to make it work?") , so enjoy it as your well-deserved reward for putting up with them. I still want my mommy, though.

Help! MZ-NHF800 problems:"System File Writing"
Syrius replied to MHoughton's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Yup. If it's not the disc, then the recording block or one of the ribbon cables that send info to it must be going the way of the dodo. You still have your warranty, right? -
Unless you *MUST* record and upload SP, pretty much any Hi-MD unit will do. You can record (but not upload) SP using the first gen units. They can also record and upload PCM/WAV, Hi-SP (256 Kbps, and we all think it sounds nice) and Hi-LP (66 kbps, which I will never use). Minus the SP upload, and enhanced Mac compatibility, An Nh900, Nhf800, Nh700 or the RH10 and RH910 will do. Again, it boils down to this: Do you need to upload those recordings via USB? If doing a realtime dub from MD to Hi-MD and then uploading that to your computer is enough, then pretty much any Hi-MD with an input will do. IIRC, the unit takes power from the USB only to upload, or recharge the battery. But you can use that battery pack through the DC input with the right plug.

Perhaps I'll only be getting this one to convert and upload all my SP recordings. Which is perfectly ok. I mean, it's not like this thing can record in a format that's unavailable on the NH900, right?
-
Call me a fanboy. But I think there's still time for Sony to fix it. Let's all start letting them know about it. COME ON, LET'S START A PETITION NOW! We got SP upload on this baby because that's what we were clamoring. Who wants to start the petition? SONY DOES LISTEN!

Optical out would be needed only to connect to an amplifier, right? I mean, there's no need for that if you can now upload pretty much anything to your computer, convert to wav, and burn to CD. Shoot.. I can imagine how this can be useful for journalists, and radio stations: Go outside with any unit that can record SP and capture your material, come to the station, put it on the RH1, and upload. This makes previously obsolete SP-only units useful again. WAY TO GO, SONY! @DanielD90: I mean.. who needs an I-pod when you can do all that with the new Hi-MD? Now I can rub it on their faces: "Oh yeah. It's nice and all that.. but CAN YOU RECORD WITH DECENT QUALITY AND THEN UPLOAD TO YOUR COMPUTER? CAN YOU, CAN YOU? HUH, HUH? CAN YOU TAKE YOUR OLD RECORDINGS OR COMPILATIONS AND UPLOAD THEM IN FULL DIGITAL QUALITY? CAN YOU? NYA! Oh, man. I'm so excited right now. I need to go take some Prozac to calm down.

I'll probably get modded for this but... F*** THE I-POD! :clapping: SONY, LISTEN TO THIS: YOU ARE FORGIVEN FOR THE ROOTKIT. ABSOLVED. PARDONED. OFF THE HOOK. ATONED. I KNEW YOU'D COME TO YOUR SENSES AND RETURN TO THE LIGHT SIDE OF THE FORCE. *goes outside to do some cartwheels*

:mega_shok: I better start saving.

I'll go again with the Art of War with Wesley Snipes. They're using a red audio Memorex disc, as a data MD.
-
Could it be that the little spike that senses if the disc tab is open or closed, has been broken with all that jogging?
-
I get the feeling only the PS3 will use Blu Ray. It'll be like another UMD. A nice curious format. Relegated to a single platform. As much as I hate MS, I don't want Blue Ray to win the war. Sony has become more evil than MS was. Honest. (Mind you, I'm tired and ate too much. So take this post with a pound of salt)

We have the apprentice here. With the king of bad hair, Donald Trump. (Blech)

Not to defend Sony, but hoping that you can upload from Net-MD via software is like expecting your CD player to read DVDs by simply changing the firmware. NetMD never uploaded anything, to begin with. Ok. Reading the audio as raw data might be possible using a HI-MD unit one day.. but... come on, they have come a long way already.

JetAudio 6. Most. Complete. Media. Player. Ever.

When the ipod is about to die, you take the old shotgun, drive somewhere far away, let the guy loose a little, and then pull the trigger in order to give him peace. Better than subject it to a life of misery.
-
Sounds to me like that disc is defective or dirty.
-
Yes. Someone with an NH600 on the bus. And someone with a 510 on another bus, too.
-
Sony, you are forgiven for the rootkit. Just don't do it again.

Whew. For a moment I thought it was going to be one of those Viagra sites and such.
