It does. It's just the equivalent of importing a track, converting the format to have a Hi-Sp file ready for transfer, and not deleting the original imported file from the database.
-
No. I think that what SS is doing, is create a lossless file so you don't have to keep your wavs on the library, AND a Hi-MD compatible file so you can transfer without having to convert every single time. Also, the lossless file might be used for future Hi-MD or Atrac devices.

You can crack the shell open, and put the discs to soak in distilled water (if available, which I doubt) Don't use soap or a cleaner until you have rinsed off the dirt. Then clean them with a CD cleaner product that has isopropyl alcohol and water in it. Avoid the ones that contain surfactants and silicon oil as it will leave a film on the disc. The top of the disc is covered with silicon grease to allow the recording head to glide better. But you will have to clean it since there'll be debris stuck to it. And we don't want sand and particles grinding against the head, right? (I haven't had a problem with any disc I've washed the grease off). After you take off the muck, you may want to use soapy water to remove the grease off the top of the disc. Then use the CD cleaner on the bottom of the disc. Then copy your discs. We don't know what effect all that water and other compounds might have on the top layer. If that chips off, esp without the silicon grease, your disc is as good as gone.

^^^ Remember that Sony's Software and their entertainment divisions are two different things. I doubt SS and S-burner will do that crap. However, this is the reverse of a person hacking a corporate server. It's illegal and wrong. Sony, how would you feel if I installed a data miner on your computers just because I suspect you *could* steal my ideas for a novel that I save to a Hi-MD in data mode? YOUR DRM ENDS WHERE MY FREEDOM BEGINS! I'm sure Microsoft would like to have a word or two with you. Unless they get sold on the idea. What a shame. A reputable company lowering itself to the levels of CoolWebSearch. I thought you had learned your lesson with Sonicstage. Seems not. To any Sony personnel reading this: I know your media division puts impossible and draconian measures on your ideas, crippling your creativity. I don't hold anything against you. Otherwise we wouldn't have Hi-MD now with fair DRM application. But whoever is using this "guilty even when proven innocent" approach to protect their intellectual property, must be put to death. On the guillotine. Ok. Kidding. A paddling will be enough.

This could be good news for the format. If Sony makes and releases the 3rd gen with Atrac Lossless compatibility, we'll be in heaven. Now I don't need MP3. We were clamoring for True SP with HI-MD, and now Sony gave us something even better. Thank you, Mr. Stringer and whoever came up with the idea.

Odd. I just tried to do that, and nothing happened. My guess is that what you're doing is converting the Wav to Atrac on the fly, and therefore when you delete it, the imported file disappears. Try this: Import the wav. Right click it and choose "convert format". Convert it to your favorite flavor. Right click it again. Choose properties and move to the last tab, "File info". You'll see two files in the window at the upper left. Select the wav, and hit "delete file". That will keep the Atrac file and its entry into SS. Make sure you uncheck the copy protection option when you convert, too. I don't see why you want to keep the Atrac though, if you have the original wav and ogg, and it's not like you're going to transfer that Atrac over and over, right?

Is quick mode off? If not, that would explain the battery dying so fast.
-
Jet Audio will convert them to Wav too, or WMA Lossless which SS will take gladly.
-
But you do not need OpenMG. Sonicstage 3.2 is OpenMG done right. RealPlayer should work with the updated secure Module.

Well, scratch the Ipod. My brother bought it for someone's birthday. What a relief.
-
I chose "other" which is to make my own compilations of music I already own or from games I play.
-
Um, how can you get your analog vinyl to output digital optical? Unless your preamp or amp is converting the signal to digital, this is not possible.
-
I just found out my brother got an Ipod with the Apple "pay us to replace a battery that normally should be user-replaceable so we can rip you off even more" plan, delivered today at home. Traitor. GRRR. And I wanted to get him an RH710 for X-mas.

It has been confirmed by Sony reps that there will be no hardware upgrades whatsoever. Sorry. Only the 2nd gen will play MP3.
-
I have one. PM me for details. I don't know why you'd want it, since it sucks, but hey, it's a free internet. Still, I don't see how SS 2.0 will work better if the system is already wrecked. I mean, isn't 2.0 more buggy and unstable? I still will let you have it, but I think it's going to be more trouble than it will resolve.
-
Sorry. Your question is a bit cryptic. Please explain a bit what you intend to do. What's a "dex"?

MD that is capable of playing high quality audio.

1000KHz? Not even dogs would be able to hear that. Woof. -
I never had a problem with my NHF800, so I can recommend it. Haven't enjoyed my 900 long enough, though.
-
Diamond-coated Ipods would be just a bit too expensive. And only for the snobbiest consumers.
-
They shouldn't sound too bad if you encode them to 256. Granted, it's still transcoding, but if PCM is not an option, Hi-SP is the best next thing.

SonicStage 2.0 Wouldn't Allow Me to Upload Anything!

And for the love of all that's holy, update to SS 3.2. -
I encrypt documents, and then I compress them and password-protect them with Winrar. I want to see someone crack that. (Other than the government, that is.)

Though I'm still concerned, 85, thanks for your reply. I actually have used my MD as a studio deck to record, edit, mix and channel-in my brother's band recording for church. Unless Apple adds some sort of editing utility (For a premium, heh heh) to I-diot Tunes, it will not be able to compete with the features of Hi-MD.
-
^^ Now you see why I'm so concerned? I can almost see the hordes of I-pod drones rubbing their unit's record ability and upload speed (if any) on my sad face. Shame on you Sony. A bunch of Gaijins were able to outdo you in a couple of years. With inferior hardware.
