  1. I finally was able to try the hack to add the functions of the R900 to the R500. Unfortunately, not all the features that become available work, at least not on this unit. Melody timer cuts the music, but no alarm is heard whatsoever. I tried all three settings. Sound 1 and sound 2 are there, but since you cannot change the levels for bass and treble for each of settings, what's the point? You need the remote on the R900, and the R500 doesn't have a jack for one. Now, the good. Program play, shuffle, and program repeat play modes work. Katakana titling works. Personal disc memory works, just without fancy equalizer modes, as quoted above. Haven't tried auto time mark, but I'm sure it works too. Not ranting, just thought I should let others know in case they are attempting the hack. Hmm... Katakana titling...
  2. Unfortunately, this is true in part. My mom and my stepdad went to France 18 months ago, and some people in the street would stop and yell to my stepdad to "Go back to the USA, you imperialistic american pig!" Of course not everyone would say that to him. Those who did, got a piece of my mother's mind (who happens to be a Scorpio, and was born in the state of Mexico with most scorpions in the country  ) in english, spanish, and french. Take heart, however. Regardless of the mistakes the presidents of the country may have made, it's you the people, the ones who make it great.
  3. "They hope it will be adopted by content providers" Suuuuure. They may adopt it, but the consumer won't support it. Remember DIVx, the Pay-per-play DVD snafu that had Disney and LucasFilm drooling? I sense a very similar disturbance in the force.
  4. Absolutely not. HiMDRenderer is the sole reason I decided to get a HI-MD after I had dismissed from my initial perceptions of how Sony had limited it. You may want to know, I have a CDR with the zip of your program, securely locked in a safe, just in case we get hit by a meteor, and go back to living like in the 1800s. (Kidding there, but I do have a backup on CDR, in a safe, with all my valuable programs) Keep up the good work. Your program pwns Sony's completely. And quite frankly, I don't see any point on using Sony's. Vive Le Haute-Minidisque Rendereur!
  5. I'd say option 2. And it's too bad I didn't save the URL, because there was a person on ebay selling the same charger that came with my JVC unit, for 10 bucks. However, this may be of interest. With two extra batteries, you can't go wrong. http://www.budgetbatteries.com/cgi-bin/sto...14108&_pageid=3
  6. Bilingual customer serv rep. And proud of the excellent service I provide. 29. Wannabee writer. Addicted only to one thing: videogames. Fell in love with MD since I first saw the MZ1 in a pamphlet. Got my first unit, an R37, in 2000. Speak with a very thick, sometimes hard-to-understand, pseudo-european accent. (WTF?) Single, like german shepherds and huskies as you can see from my profile.
  7. Hi all. I'm curious about one thing. You see, with use, my Sharp SR-60's laser block fell out of alignment, and I had to resort to entering service mode to have the player auto calibrate it. I'm worried that my Sony players may do the same one day, but when it comes to service mode and hacking, I only find options for the Sony MZR-XXXX series. Does anybody have any info? I don't want to hack my players, just make sure the head is aligned, because today when walking back from work, my player skipped twice, the music stopped completely, and it was until I held the belt pouch with my hand that the sound came back, exactly where it left off ( :wacky: ), and these were the same symptoms my Sharp exhibited when it died, and I had to bring it back to life. (Works ok now, but 10 secs antishock doesn't cut it.) Info is appreciated. Thanks.
  8. Kurisu. Praying and statements like that don't make Bush more of a christian, than standing in a garage makes of me an SUV. If he *really* adhered to christian values (doing what is right, and not what you want), things would be different, way different. I won't say more. But I will for certain be more than happy to get those T-shirts and stickers that say "Don't blame me. I voted for Kerry." (Or in my case, "I didn't vote for Bush") EDIT: I have therefore changed my sig. If the mods don't approve, let me know and I'll fix it. Thanks.
  9. It could be the improved DSP inside of the machine. I'll be getting a HiMD unit soon, and will compare the results against my friend's N505.
  10. Risking to derail the track, I'd say that with unlimited checkouts with SonicBarf 2.2, it's pointless to keep all those OMG/OMA files in your HDD. If you lose a disc containing a song you wanted, simply re-import it, and download to another disc. Just don't delete your original MP3's.
  11. http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=6559 Seems like you might be in luck. PM or reply to that thread and see if you can close a deal.
  12. But what if that same DSP is on a non-rewriteable, fixed ROM chip? (think arcade machines or cartridge games) If sony didn't feel there would be any need to update the codec, there would be no use for a rewriteable chip. And I'm guessing that was their original aim. Unless Hi-MD had been another story.
  13. Or you can copy that track to another MD and set the recording unit to Mono. Good luck.
  14. I understood, but cannot assist you. Sorry. I suggest you order instead from T-station, since they are in Singapore, and ship to pretty much everywhere in the world, and their reputation is good overall.
  15. I know, Aeriyn. Just pointing out how some laws in Utah have been influenced by the Latter Day Saints church sometimes. (IIRC, there is something about bars having to be very discrete or something. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)
  16. Email: "Dear Sir/Madam: Your item has been damaged during shipping and can not be replaced. We are issuing an immediate refund in full for this item. We apologize for the inconvenience, and wish to assist you in the future. IF you have any questions or comments relating to this issue, please contact us at *my ebay seller's email*" They say they will refund me in 48 hours. I hope they do.
  17. Sounds like it was a monaural mic, and the signal got sent to only one channel.
  18. Um, BJ. For the sake of accuracy, religious-sanctioned marriages were being performed even before the times of Moses. It's not like the church was trying to sell out to the pagans. (At least not the in the times of the Patriarchs.) But that would imply having to use the Bible as reference, which is something you don't want to see in an argument.
  19. RATS! I got a message from my seller saying that my unit got damaged in the shipping, and cannot be replaced. (WTF? Don't they have several others like that for sale? I smell a rat here...) They say they'll refund me... As long as I get my money back, no harm, I guess.
  20. Well, since it pretty much depends on the source, I'll be ripping from a CD. Now, I wonder if there is any difference between ripping and transferring via USB, or ripping, converting and then transferring.
  21. The only thing I would improve, is that darn tendency of trashing tracks randomly. I am almost sure this bug was left there on purpose. I don't need no fancy interfaces, no bells and whistles. Just software that doesn't destroy user data because of some retrograde and draconian digital rights loophole. Sorry for the rant. But we need SS to become stable. It's not like we're in the days of Win95 anymore.
  22. Well, since my friend had to leave a bit early that night, we couldn't compare. But, we tried LP2, and he said it sounded almost as if it was monaural, and after we did Fake-sp with his song ("Camouflage"), he said it sounded better, and the difference is audible. I don't have an MDLP capable player with me, but as soon as I get the N520 I bought online, I'll report back. Keep in mind my only phones to test are my MDR EX 71 Sp. No eggos or sennheisers here.
  23. Make sure you're not using a hub, disconnect any other USB devices from the system, and install SonicStuff 2.2 What's the point of using 1.5, if we all know it's more full of bugs than a dead cow laying in the middle of the road?
