  1. As you can see, it all sucks. I got screwed down there in Mexico, people get screwed over here.. and now poor Hindus are going to take the brunt of people's agression when they try to telemarket stuff.
  2. Just as someone mentioned above, it's not really nice for the people getting those outsourced jobs either. When I was working in Nogales, Mexico, just seven blocks south of the border, I was getting paid (get this) twelve ****ing dollars a week for editing, proofreading and fixing resumes that people sent electronically. (sum of dem eluktroniks engniers dunt now haw 2 spll). Twelve bucks a week. Over here, that would pay at least seven bucks an hour. And that was back in 1996. Oh, my post above about the Graphics card and the American made products was referring to the fact we have to support whichever few companies still manufacture their products here. Guess I was too sleepy when I posted that.
  3. I recall hearing that the japanese, some time ago, would purchase a japanese product over a foreign one of the same type, even if the japanese-made one was more expensive. Call me stupid, but that's the reason I have stuck with my simple Geforce FX 5500 board, by BFG. According to them the thing is made here in the good old US of A. I could have gotten a cheaper board made in Taiwan or Hong Kong, but you know, the package and the board just smelled of quality all over. Not that we have lots of options, anyway.
  4. The art of War. Red MD. Data. That's two Snipes movies featuring the format.
  5. Unless Sony gets it right, I'm willing to guess it will have all the wonders of their DRM scheme. And get this. I'm almost sure you won't be able to use music from Connect on the PSP, nor from that PSP service on Hi-MD. I really wish to be proven wrong, though.
  6. Sony also said that Atrac3+ 64 Kbps sounds just like the first Atrac, which in 92 claimed to sound just like a CD. And that they have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to lucky users of Connect.com. Just make sure you aren't using FFDShow filters, keep your system free of spyware, viruses, don't run other programs while SS is up, and try to use CBR MP3s.
  7. You know, even though they are locked, lint sometimes get inside of my discs. Try using some of that tissue for camera lenses if you find anything that may be preventing the laser from reading. It has happened with pretty much every brand of disc I have. Memorex, Sony, Maxell, TDK, Fuji, Denon. Dirt doesn't respect names.
  8. None. And boy am I glad. Sweet peace and quiet. I have an IP phone used only for receiving calls, though. But my brother has one of them Nokias from Cricket. Boy I hate it when we sit down to play some Xbox, and a brainless twit calls him to ask stupid questions. I'm sorry for whoever will become his GF/Wife.
  9. Since you have the CD's, why not use Simple Burner to transfer to the Hi-MD, and avoid HDD clutter?
  10. Belated hello to my Athlon 64 system with 512 MB of DDR, Firewire, USB 2, Nforce 3 chipset, capture card, DVD burner, crappy NVIDIA 5500 OC card, 80G HDD and a Sony Digital 8 camcorder to start Syrius Logicsoft productions, featuring my incredible stick figure dramas on DVD. Goodbye to the donated R500. Make my friend happy with that long battery life, and uber-cool cobalt blue color.
  11. Spanish and english fluently. Can read and understand french to some degree.
  12. To reply directly to the original poster: DVDs have Serial Copy Management System on the audio tracks. Meaning, that a MD will not copy. Try going into your DVD's setup option and change the output to either Raw, PCM or Stereo. Or disable dolby digital. Your player may then output the sound as PCM or something that doesn't carry the "No copy" flag. Cd's should work ok.
  13. I thought that labor referred to any repairs made on the thing under the warranty. A faulty part is a faulty part is a faulty part. And one year is one year is one year.
  14. If you still have your CDs you can re-rip them to Atrac. If not.. well, there is not much that can be done.
  15. Come on, no teasing. If he's ditching MD because of SS, then it's because the cruddy software must be all FUBAR.
  16. I just noticed the girl is Lain Iwakura, from Serial Experiments Lain. Did you make the sketch, ZT?
  17. Hi all. Didn't know if this would be the right subforum to post this deal I found while searching Froogle for a Hi-MD recorder. I haven't used this store, so do your homework if you plan on purchasing from them. I think an Nh 800 and a mic are a hot deal. http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...&source=froogle
  18. AAAH. Damn this lack of employment. I would purchase it if not because I need to be careful with what I spend.
  19. Syrius

    Great Deal!

Could you please post the link to the ebay auction?
  20. SonicStale. Because it's the same thing over and over, with different faces.
  21. ^^Erm. Why did he get banned? (Don't mean to be too curious. But bothering a mod with PM wouldn't have been right)
  22. I thought MS was the root of all evil. Seriously, what I can't comprehend is how with all their years of experience, the outrage of many customers, the low sales, and whatever it is they had studied, people at the helm of Sony couldn't see that screwing your customers is screwing yourself. I just don't see the logic of "Proprietary format + Incredibly annoying and illogical restrictions + no advertising + Low quality downloads + just sitting there twiddling their thumbs = Revenue." Yeah right. Case in point: Remember what "Walkman" meant back in the 90's? It = Coolness. Quality. Hip. Useful. Well thought. Now the hot word for a music player is "Ipod". Now, I don't think Seppuku is appropriate for whoever is responsible for the miserable failure of Connect and MD VS Ipod. ( I know you meant it as a joke all right) But I do believe Sony management should really get acquantainced with the software and restrictions they have been imposing on their loyal supporters all this time. And I tell you this with a straight face. I myself am sure that Bill Gates asked his team to develop a more stable OS after experiencing a few BSOD's himself. (I am a happy Win 2K user.) Mutant 1345, I'm partially borrowing your sig from this post on.
  23. ^^^ Just open your MD player and stare at the laser. I like the Sennheiser girl. Reminds me of my niece Tammy, but with blue eyes.
