    Minidisc Dream

what a dream you had. hahaha. I do agree, NH900 is a such wonderful piece machinery. I like mine too.
  3. 1. Correct. I think the difference is minimal. 2. I think it's the same remote (can someone confirm this?). not sure about multilingual disp tho on the 900.
  4. same here, I want a deck rather than another portable unit. Plus, I just wish Sony would include MAC users in the loop for anything that involve MD development. If Apple can crossover with their itunes and Ipods to Window OS, I just don't see why Sony can't crossover to OS X with Sonicstage. grrrr. still no OS X support for SS3.0.
  5. hehe, now I can anwser this. after seeing the announcements, I'm definately not buying a portable 2nd gen unit.
  6. guess I'll be sticking to my nh900, Since sonicstage 3.0 seems only supports Windows OS....grrrrrr.
  7. With the announcement of 2nd Gen Hi-MDs, while I'm excited about that. Meanwhile, I took sometime to browse some of etailers' sites. and I ran across this @JR.com Sony DN430 Psyc NetMD Walkman Features listed: • Stylish new Psyc™ design • Uses affordable standard MiniDisc media for Storage and playback • Storage: Up to 177MB (approx. 5 hours of audio) on a single disc • Plays back in ATRAC3, MP3, WMA and WAV formats • Skip-Free G-Protection™ • MiniDisc media offers unlimited, expandable storage • transfer MP3s or CDs at up to 32x speed • Earbuds & 1 MiniDisc included • Music management Software supplied • Compatible with Connect Music Store • Up to 56 hours continuous playback with 1 AA Battery • Color: Stereo Black I've already seen some drop in price all across the board on 1st gen Hi-MDs, it had me thinking why would some one would still buy newer generation of NetMD. when lowest model of Hi-MD isn't much higher in price. most of all, why is sony still churning out NetMDs; if this model ever come to fruition. This has me puzzled!!! side note, Etronics already has designated slots on their Hi-MD line up for RH10, RH910, and DH10 all on pre-order, except INFO, Pricing and Photo of the models has yet to come. I believe this is the first U.S. Etailer anticipating the 2nd gen Hi-MDs.
  8. taken from CD Freaks news bulletin: First the RIAA sue non-PC & Mac users and now the Deceased Posted by Seán Byrne on 05 February 2005 - 00:33 - Source: the Charleston Gazette wgazette Previously, we heard of incidents where the RIAA filed lawsuits against those who never used file swapping software, have a Macintosh or those who do not even have a computer. Well this time, not only does the person the RIAA targeted not have a computer, but the person is also dead! Gertrude Walton who died December 2004 was sued making 700 tracks of pop, rock and rap music available under the nickname "smittenedkitten". According to her daughter Robin Chianumba, she hated computers and would not have even known how to turn one on let alone use one. She also faxed a copy of her grand mother’s death certificate to the record company officials in response to the legal filing. As the RIAA target individuals by IP addresses, it is often not the bill payer that is at fault. For example there were several cases where it was children involved in sharing out music, but the parents who may even not have any computer skills are the ones that get the penalty. However in this case, it is not clear how an IP address matched up with an individual who never had a computer in their house. brantdk used our news submit to let us know about the following news: Gertrude Walton of Fayette County hated computers, her daughter said. That did not stop the recording industry from accusing the now deceased 83-year-old Mount Hope woman of illegally trading music over the Internet. More than a month after Walton was buried in Beckley, a group of record companies named her as the only defendant in a federal lawsuit. They claimed Walton made more than 700 pop, rock and rap songs available for free on the Internet under the screen name “smittenedkitten.” On Thursday, a spokesman for the Recording Industry Association of America acknowledged that Walton was probably not the smittenedkitten it is searching for. “Our evidence gathering and our subsequent legal actions all were initiated weeks and even months ago,” said RIAA spokesman Jonathan Lamy. “We will now, of course, obviously dismiss this case.” Walton’s daughter, Robin Chianumba, lived with her mother for the last 17 years of her life and said her mother objected to having a computer in the house. Chianumba said she didn’t know anything about the record company’s claims. And she said she does not know anything about the screen name. “My mother was computer illiterate. She hated a computer,” Chianumba said. “My mother wouldn’t know how to turn on a computer.” With cases like this, there is a good chance that many PC users that get targeted for lawsuits that may have never shared out music on the Internet. As long as the user has a PC and an Internet connection in a case like this, the RIAA could just stick with their ‘Guilty until proven innocent’ approach. One error in the IP address could easily do this or a bad clock at either the RIAA or ISP end could put the blame on a wrong user where IP’s are dynamically assigned to users. 9. the full article is here in the article, it says with given PSP multimedia focus, the new service is completely apart from CONNECT can be used to download videos. I guess sony will offer a brand "new music download service" specifically for the PSP in the near future, and that PSP will be utilize it to download music videos or even movies. even with capable of download music videos, will Sony's "Connect" and the possible "new music download service for the PSP" be succeeding in taking chunks of Apple's "ITMS" market share in 'Music Download Service". feel free to discuss.
  10. IncompatibleStage. Because it doesn't support MAC, or running natively on OS X. SucksStage. Because the software just plain SUCKS compare to Itunes, plus lousy interface.
  11. no LCD on anysort of audio player, No thanks. laughs, You were once one of em, Cori., before you got the mini. back then, I try to point out Ipod is just good Audio Player as MDs, but you dis'ing(sp?) em like there is no tomorrow. but I still think You still are Apple hatorz, hehe, or you'll be praising powerMacs, Powerbooks and rid of crap/not userfriendly Window OS based PC long time ago.
  12. get out of there (namely headfi forum) while you can, Sony_Man. hahaha. Don't let them BRAINWASH you!! don't let Aeriyn brainwash you too!! Must resist, and stick to your budget. Sony_Man.
  13. sounds like you got a faulty unit. Agrees with Dex, you should exchange it!
  14. OMG, I swear, some people are LAZY!! according to your posted Topic, HeatherD; and before you post this thread. did you happen to notice those 4 topics being PINNED/stickied in the Hi-MD forum (above the discussion topics?). in which one of the topic says, and I quote; "Marc's *fast* Method Of Uploading From Hi-md To A .wav File"
  15. by any chance, have you read the manual that comes with the unit? specifically on the topic of recording modes. if not, go do that now!!! if you still have no clue after reading thru the manual, people here will be happy to help you.
  16. Here is one option, M-Audio Transit I'm pretty sure, Edirol have a similar device such as this. so that's 2 options for you. This device has line-in/Optical input, connection from this device to mac is via USB cable, thus capable of upload Digitally. only downside from all this, it must be done in realtime.
  17. Dex is semi correct. For TRUE and FAST digital transfers, I am sorry to said.. PC ONLY! for uploading tracks to the Mac DIGITALLY, there is couple ways to workaround; however, the it would still be recording in REALTIME, there is no way to get around that.
  18. for ~30 and UNDER. I would recommend Senns MX series (in earbuds phones). ie MX400, MX500, MX550.
  19. Oh My! Mac Mini is so sexy, hopefully to convince my folks to get one, then, this household would be PC free!! errrr no, ShuttlePC started the trend, but Apple will own!! same thing can be said on the ShuttlePC as well. some models of ShuttlePC aren't much bigger than mac mini and they have carrying case, and it's transportable.
  20. oh no! not again. what's your preference, Open or Closed? what type, circumaural or supraural(sp?)? you know, you should just ask Bangraman, as he had reviewed so many sets of headphones. IMO.
  21. Same here, both CDs and MDs have their place with me. amen to that, hahaha. I feel the same way. apparently someone here on the board is somewhat bias!! very well said!! eventually, my library will outgrow whatever capacity of those DAPs, but not so on MD, when my library expands, my MD collection expands along with it. my 2G 10gb (apple ver) Ipod as of now is somewhat collecting dust in the drawer.
  22. CDN$100.00 is roughly about USD$81.00. as I said before, at that budget. forget about Beyers DT770 totally! that headphone is way over your budget.
  23. forget mdr-600!! don't get those. even with your budget. forget about Beyers DT770 (new or used) as well. try sony mdr-v6 or mdr-7506 (NOT MDR-V600) or Sennheiser (hd280), they are more likely within your budget.
  24. MD is mean to replace cassette player/recorder. however, your last statement is just wrong. stop bashing Sony!!! arrrrgggghhh. to prove you wrong. take a look at those digital point-n-shoot cameras. sony and many other manufactures do know how to make easy-to-use products. however, look at digital camcorder for example, if you are claiming sony can't. I would say just about every manufactures out there (Sony, Pana, JVC, Sharp, Samsung ....etc..etc) all of them don't seem to know how to make easy to use. too many friggin buttons on there!! easy-to-use and know how is totally product dependant(sp?). just because sony can't make more user friendly on their MD products. don't make your conclusion about products made by Sony. if you don't like particular product, don't just single out 1 such manufacturer, you must include all the manufactuers that make such product. /end rant
  25. never have. do you get the same loss of sound with a different pair of headphones?
