webpages that hinder right mouse usage, that drives nuts big time, always make a point to go back in without javascript and take pictures and other stuff (especially the javascript that is guilty of screwing with the mouse button) from that webpage and save it in special spot called pit~of~$$$$$$$$$$ (the $$$$$$$$$$ symbol means right mouse has been screwed with) streaming video, it's not fair that it can be viewed but not saved, luckily those days are over after a download thingie that can rip into streaming video and save it to disc for viewing at anytime even if the computer is off the web, still feel bad for those without a way of saving streaming video treatment of trams, trolleybuses and streetcars in the 50's and 60's, why junk something that works ?????? totally disgusted about that, and that's why the city chokes with car smog, hate the opera house because it sits "proudly" on a piece of land that once had a large tram depot, if the trams were still around that piece of land would still rightly belong to the trams and the opera house might be in a better and less obvious spot or might never had got constructed, at least melbourne did the right thing in keeping its trams, and the result is the southern hemisphere's best and most livable city how everyone else in the family has one or more car each drives everywhere and not even consider public transport, the brother is the worst offender with two cars (one is a should not be street legal souped up monstrosity), been avoiding all private car rides like the plague and succeeded in not getting in any private car since july 16, 2004, the only good cars are small Hot Wheels cars and got a large collection of those as well as hundreds of pieces of track

no wonder 1gb discs could be found at some discount electonics stores for under $5 each, got a 5 pack of the new blue discs for $20 at JB Hifi, if minidisc is being canceled for the Aussies, why go to the trouble of getting the new blue discs ????? it has to be more than dumping "unwanted" stock as the ugly old blackish discs were under $5 for a long time before the blue discs appeared so it looks like boxes of himd discs are imported then sold for under $5 instead of dumping excess or unpopular stock it said md, but didn't say himd, so the official announcement most likely meant the original format while himd will stay, that was mentioned elsewhere on the minidisc bulletin boards previously and another post said Sony Australia was getting second generation himd players for the Australian market Sony had really been pushing the NWHD5 hard disc player lately with glossy brochures, possibly to snag would be iPod customers, the neighbor was wanting an iPod, but told her mom that the NWHD5 is better as the batteries can be easily replaced

had that problem before, and at the same time the remote didn't work too, the only difference was the model was a 700 which is almost the same as the 800 see http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9609 for the last time it happened

does charging a rechargable battery in a real battery charger work better than charging it with the player ????? at home charging the battery with the player (nh700) is avoided (always use a real battery charger instead) because of concerns the player doesn't do the job as well as a real charger does Who uses their player as a battery charger (charge batteries with it then remove the charged batteries for use elsewhere) ??????
-
the nh700, got one, liked it, got a second one so the first one has an easier time, the first (blue) one stays at home as a player and the computer connecter while the second one (silver) is kept in the media bag and used for recording and other stuff, felt strange owning two of the same model but now used to the extra convenience

The Island, and on the way to the movie found an iPod AirPlay broadcaster on the ground, took it anyway even there is no iPod at home to connect it too, if only it would connect to the nh700 then it would be a free fm broadcaster

tartan always carries, in the "media bag".... an nh700 for sound recording at any time spare discs in case there's something really worth recording a large, heavy and old 1.3 megapixel digital camera spare batteries a tape recording walkman, just in case it's needed spare tapes tartan gets around with some........ razor scooter, heavily plastered with stickers and hair bands concession card for very cheap (but mostly unreliable) public transport lots of elastic straps so oversized items can be fastened to front of scooter tartan thinks this is cool............ not owning a cell phone not owning an ipod not owning a car and not even owning a driver's license continuously turning down offers to be driven everywhere not getting into a private car since july 2004 recording public transport sound and playing it back full blast at others who are playing "stupid pointless real racing simulators" where destroying your car or even scratching the paintwork is impossible ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ everyone else at home has one phone and one car each, the brother has two cars (the new one is a super impractical barely street legal super souped up gas guzzling rally racer) for total absurdness, making it 5 cars for 5 living at home, just in case the non driver decides to drive (which will never happen) the phone thing may change one day, but not anytime soon... grab your cell phone in public, thrust it high into the air and scream "PHONE POWER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" as loud as possible

One of the funniest videos seen lately, specially how the massive backpack is needed to cart around all the accessories a Tictac sized iPod needs (a car battery, alligator cords, tweezers, magnifying glass, pliers, large radio controller etc), the earphone cord that looks like it goes to nowhere, one Flea must only hold one song and coming packaged like Tictac lollies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Never trust streaming video so this one had to be saved to computer so it could be viewed at any time (using a downloader that can rip into streaming video that browser's and streamers can't save), tartan will never watch streaming video online, it must be saved before it can be viewed.

Looks very tempting, but the only things against getting one right now is the cost of media and the possibility of it coming with an unreplacable built in battery or non standard shaped battery

the www.minidisc.org website was found with google in 2004 while looking for stuff about the Sharp 721 player with the bulletin boards following soon after seeing where to go on the minidisc homepage, before that knew nothing about it, joining the bulletin boards was originally only to find out what was wrong with the Sharp player but after returning the second hand Sharp player and replacing it with a new nh700 it was worthwhile to return to the bulletin boards

it works in the Micro$oft browser, if that doesn't work Go into internet tools or options and don't let the browser run Activex and plugins, it should save now as it is likely the Quicktime plugin secretly watches the browser ending with .mov and screws up the browser everytime it wants to download a .mov only the full version of Quicktime saves video too and the shareware one is more of a pest than useful or Go "view page source" with the browser and look for the phrase ".mov" and copy that address to a download tool and download it, often this would not be the actual video so if the .mov is unnaturally small open the unnaturally small .mov with notepad and look for the address of the whole video which can be copied into a downloader

hate em big time, easily smashable unlike the better old school soft cases which bend their way out of trouble

"Total Record" it or record it with a sound recorder that digitally catches the sound before uploading it, as there is always a risk of losing tracks leaving it unplayable on both the player and computer. tartan's sound story... Right now there is a big pile of recorded minidiscs on top of the computer waiting to be uploaded, but the thing that is not allowing uploading right now is the computer sound is broken, meaning pre recording before uploading isn't possible at the moment, and Sonicstage can't be trusted to be the only way of uploading the tracks. Only after the sound is fixed will uploading and clearing the pile begin.

Just noticed this one, how did this one happen ??? The player (nh700) was used last night to play a disc, and tonight the disc was swapped, and when play was pressed sound from the previous disc came out for about 20 seconds then it quit. When play was pushed again sound from the correct disc finally played. edit capitalization of every with in a title is no good, testing ways to defeat the capitals

It is also likely to spin and spin and spin with little or no result, as happened today again with an emac at college, after a few tries at connecting it the storage icon would no longer appear on the desktop.
-
Saving college homework for storage at home, and also the other way around. Take favorite home movies, pictures, sounds etc overseas for show and tell

Already got an nh700, but is it worth getting another one while it is on sale at $299 including the box of freebies ??? Is owning two of the same model weird or do many poeple do that ??? Getting another one is being considered because the existing one has had problems with jogwheel, remote, etc.
-
Got this same problem too, it is probably the gears inside that are broken as the wheel should still work if it is pushed down and turned at the same time on the bottom left corner. ps, the (only used once) remote doesn't work anymore as well so what could be wrong there ???

At the Easter Show in Sydney today, "displayed" in the window of the controller cubicle of one of the rides, was an Ipod which was connected to an amp through the earphone output for the ride's loud music. Is using portable music players like mp3 players, Ipods, hard disc players or minidisc for things like loud amusement ride music common nowadays or do cd decks or other high priced sound systems still rule ???

listening to the sounds of public transport while on public transport, also listen to homemade public transport recordings, can also remix the sound into music but successful mixes isn't easy to make. On "real" music, it's heavy metal, rock, gangsta raps, some raves and dance and unusual music. There's very little overlap with the others at home (who all got similar tastes). It goes in every direction. fear factory, linkin park, eminem, 100 percent hits albums, anime soundtracks, computer game music, tv and movie themes (mainly scifi) and too much more

himds are sold in the large cases, the sleeves had never been seen sold separately like cd jewel cases are, because minidiscs are not as common as cdr's. the only known way to get sleeves is to buy regular minidiscs and swap the cases with the sleeves the discs came in, but some discs will be left caseless or use the himd cases to store rarely or never used discs.

tartan is.... carrying the public transport flag because the rest of the family wouldn't and are car addicted and anti public transport to boot. and no private car ridden in since july 16, 2004 and november 12, 2005, no driver's license and no car ownership, anti car to boot, and proud of it!!!!!
