Questions/Comments for Marc's uploading utility.
MZ-NH1 replied to journalist's topic in Hi-MD Renderer Forum
I have a .oma file that is 5.3MB. When using HI-MDConverter, it converted it to .wav and was 26MB, and then using the latest program, that converted it to .mp3 as well at 192kb/s, that file was only 3MB. The sound quality on all these files was really good, so I am wondering, if we convert it to .mp3, is there any need for the .wav file since it is quite alot bigger? -

Well, this is awesome! I have just tested version 4, with a very good quality version of a jazz song, it converted it to .wav and worked without any problems. I use to get the 'unrecognised format' in Media Player, but that has gone! No repeat heard as well (never had a repeat last 5 sec.. ) I think this is suppose to happen... when it is converting the file, it takes say 6 seconds, and during that time, extracts from the .oma version are played through my speakers. Is this supposed to happen? Doesn't bother me at all, just wondering -

marcnet, you're a bloody legend for putting in the basic GUI!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!! it's awesome! Now I can use the program in about 10 secs rather than 40 mins :S because of my unknown knowledge of DOS lol! Thanks for that. One question, since in the GUI, you cannot select the output file, is the new .wav file automatically placed in the same file as the selected .oma file? -

Thanks for that Sefu, currently looking at buying Magix Music maker (looks excellent, except no one in Australia sells it I think :S) Spare Tire: I don't know much about Analog - Digital converting... :S so I thought I’d give the cable a try. I tried to use the himdrender last night, took me quite a while to figure out how to use the commands and so on :S lol... still not quite sure how to use it :S -

Thanks. Sorry to say, but I am running 0.02, when it came up with that error :S sorry. Just wondering, would it be a lot of trouble for you, if you created a GUI version of this software? Because if it isn't, and you have some spare time, and enough people ask, can I suggest you do please, coz I just have no idea how to use the dos prompt :S sorry! -

I have just used the himdrender program (took me about 30 mins to figure out all the commands :S ) After it converted the file from .oma to .wav, It did say, output file size 0MB, but I successfully played the file in Windows Media Player, but about 5 seconds from the end, I got a "unable to recognise file format" error. -

No it isn't a Xitel MD-Port I/O, it is a Audio Cord - 3.5mm stereo plug to plug... yeh :wacky: I bought the cord, because I don't mind the real time upload effect (unless it is a 2 hour recording.. lol), but also to try a different way of converting the file to .wav. I think marcnet's software is fantastic, but I'm not that good at using DOS, even though instruction were provided. I will be trying both ways, in the end; I will most probably go with marcnet's software.... Does anyone know of good Audio editing software? Where you can add effects and that kinda stuff in please? Andrew Sefu, just noticed you are a MD representative in Sydney! Where bouts you based? -

I have just come back, after buying a cable from Sony, that you plug into your Headphone line Out and PC Mic socket, and then you can use software to record the recordings off your MD. Does anyone know of any good software, where you can add effects in to the recording and change settings of the sound etc? marcnet, you don't want to make software for this purpose as well do you? (your doing a great job!) -

Going to buy a cord today, which Sony says plugs from the MD into the back of the Audio slots in the PC. It supposedly converts the recordings to .wav when transferred onto the PC. Shall see if it actually does this! -

What program did you use linzq to do that conversion to mp3 please? -
Ok. Thanks Another one of my silly threads :S

Hi, just wondering, every post I have made a comment in is put into my 'View your Posts' section. This is a great idea, but just wondering, how do I delete a forum from the 'View your Posts' section, because some of the threads I have written in, haven't had any action for a while, so I don’t need that forum hogging up my screen space, if you get what I mean. Thanks

MZ-NH1 replied to journalist's topic in Hi-MD Renderer Forum
As someone said in the other forum, they converted their recording to .wav format, which was 350MB in size, and then they said they were going to convert it to mp3. Would converting the 350MB file to mp3 make the file size smaller? If so, can someone post me a link to a good mp3 converter tool please. Thanks very much  -
Upload recordings to a .wav onto pc faster than realtime.
MZ-NH1 replied to marcnet's topic in Hi-MD Renderer Forum
Thanks very much for that marcnet. Looks like a great tool . Sony really do need to hurry up on their .wav converter, I mean if a guy can make a basic program which can do the job in 1 day, then surely Sony has some PC freaks that can make a program in at least a month! Hurry up SONY! -
Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread? [part III]

AHAHAHA, nice aeriyn Mmmm, I think it is pretty stupid that you HAVE to have the stand to recharge the battery. Sony probably hope we'll buy the extra batteries for $40! :| -

marcnet, I downloaded you program, unziped it, and double clicked on the icon. It ran using MS-DOS, but came up with an error "NO INPUT FILE", where do I go to specify wat the input file is? because it then goes on saying, "press any key to exit" so I can't press "I" for input file selection :S. Anyone know what the problem might be? -
Ahahahahah kk.

MZ-NH1 replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
Just wondering, is there any other way to charge the MZ-NH1 than putting it on its docking station and powering it up through there. Is there a cigarette lighter cord for the car? Or say your going overseas and you don't want to take the base, is there a cord you can buy to plug it straight into the wall power? -

Spectrum analyzation of WAV, 256kbps ATRAC3+, 132kbps ATRAC3
MZ-NH1 replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
With the music files at ATRAC3plus 256, correct me if I'm wrong, but the 80min Hi-MD discs can only hold around 40 songs. (Not sure how many songs the new 1GB discs take, because I don't have any at the moment) With the bit rate at 64kbps, I have been able to fit around 160 songs onto an MD. Is this how many songs you normally have on your MD (40) when in 256-bit rate, and with the new 1GB discs does anyone know roughly how many tracks you can get them with 256-bit rate please?
