*compares specs from NH900 to RH10* bloody hell its huge! godamnit sony.....
-
(I have little technical knowledge) could you trick the system? make a single physical disc 2 'discs', yet sonicstage would 'know' that its just the one and treat it as such?
-
I love it! i 'discovered' it a few weeks ago and now use it a lot. I bookmark a handful of tracks (on a 'discography' MD - i do the singles) and put it on random within the bookmark mode. its great! and yes you could use it to cue songs and make a playlist.
-
this rumoured 2 disc MD - could it be a deck? just a thought
-
sorry - can someone explain what a sample rate is to me? I can never understand the difference between sample rate and bit rate
-
Let me see the remotes first. If They're any good - great! I'll get the RH10 when I go on holiday in Australia. If not... well I've been quoted £80 for a 40ELK by a Sony dearler. Are they available by themselves in Australia? I mean NOT as a spares item...

Hi, I'm doing a piece of Business and Economics coursework entitled 'how have Sony lost their competitive advantage in the portable audio market?' Part of this involves using 'specialist media', which forums are allegedly a part of. Can anyone offer some views on the question? Much appreciated.
-
lol i know mate im not that daft. I was refering to sony pricing. but looking at the euro pricing of the NH1 and so on, it looks like £200 for us brits.
-
will that be £199 or £299 for the top model then?
-
WOW! well, they look beautiful, but I would need to know battery lifes/dimensions before buying one. Doesn't look like the revelation we were expecting
-
"we'll let marketting worry about that!"
-
cheers! I'd read that, but was pressing record to bring up '000000' which was confusing me somewhat, I've got it now though. No massive difference from a euro NH900 to a US or Korean NH900 for me though. Do they have the same hardware?
-
sorry i dont understand - could someone please make this step-by-step for me? i can get into sevice mode, then bring up 113, but dont understand where to go from there (there are more than 2 digits in 113 and thats throwing me a bit) i have a euro NH900. thanks

1, Is all but confirmed 2, I read somewhere (minidiscT i think) that the top level MD unit is no longer the thinnest - that would confirm this. Sony is trying to compete with 20gig HDD units, so this would make sense (sony-sense that is) 3, Well we knew that one anyways. 4, I also read somewhere that 5gig discs had been developed by sharp - entirely possible. Also, I read that as the DISC not being backword compatible. Like the 1gig discs at the moment. just my 2 peneth worth

I tend to use my remote exclusively, to the point where the player itself looks almost unfamiliar to me!

Entering Service Mode On A Hi-MD Player

I agree that MD1 is the original media, but the reformatted discs have 303MB, whereas the new 1gb discs have...well.... 1 gig. Maybe the other two are the other way round? -
does anyone care? ATRAC sounds a LOT better

thats volume though, am i right in thinking if that was increased all we would get is steadily worse sound quality? -
portable CD players from Sony all do
-
phew, great. Still, what are those circular players? They look too small to be CD to me. And that Prototype Hi-MD looks incredibly ugly
-
OMG! Sony are 'set to release a new type of walkman' - correct? those circular ones? they must be UMD players! the UMD is used in the upcoming PSP and apparently stores audio in ATRAC3+ what does this mean for Hi-MD??
