  1. Without noise cancelling, the NC50 is unfortunately mediocre at best; in my opinion, it is not even on par with the XD400. I have no experience with in-ear noise cancelling monitors, thus, I can’t provide you with the appropriate recommendations. However, I suspect in-ear monitors would be more comfortable than the NC50 for long hour use. As I’ve mentioned in my impressions, the NC50 can be quite uncomfortable for long haul flights. Well, no secrets here If I may say so humbly, the results of my macro photographs are from years of experience in photography. The key to good macro photography is lighting, the right exposure, tripod and most important, your creativity. In addition, if you employ the digital format, it is important that the white balance is set correctly.

    RH10 hack

I'm glad you find the area code helpful; however, there's no need to create another thread when you have an existing one about it.
  4. I can confirm that the instruction outlined above is correct - works just fine with the MZ-RH10.
  5. Thanks to streaml1ne for the tip .... listening to Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tapes 08 in ATRAC3plus 256kbps. 6. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the effort. I am aware of the area codes you have published but the Korean ones are new to me. As for the Chinese area codes, you mentioned the area codes will display its respective text properly on SonicStage 3.2. However, most Chinese characters will not display as it should once you transfer those titled tunes over to the hardware. I believe a hardware region code change is required for its respective area code. By the way, you mentioned you can use your MD again. How do you mean? Are you able to view Korean text on your remote LCD? I believe the only MD remote capable of Korean text is the RM-MC55ELK.
  7. It’s the left and right channel. Just simply mean that our ears usually can’t hear frequency at that level mentioned above – unless you’ve bat or bionic ears. As for Low/High pass filters, I will use quotes from wikipedia to answer your query: --> "The concept of a low-pass filter exists in many different forms, including electronic circuits (like a hiss filter used in audio), digital algorithms for smoothing sets of data, acoustic barriers, blurring of images, and so on. Low-pass filters play the same role in signal processing that moving averages do in some other fields, such as finance; both tools provide a smoother form of a signal which removes the short-term oscillations, leaving only the long-term trend." --> "A high-pass filter passes 'high' frequencies fairly well, but attenuates 'low' frequencies. Therefore it is also called a low-cut filter or bass-cut filter. The term rumble filter is sometimes used. A high-pass filter is the opposite of a low-pass filter. See also bandpass filter. Hence it is useful as a filter to block any unwanted low frequency components of a complex signal whilst passing the higher frequencies. Of course, the meanings of 'low' and 'high' frequencies are relative, actually desired values would influence choice of component values in an implementation." It depends upon the type of headphone/earphone one employs. Basically, you will hear artifacts at this point – provided if you can pick it up. As I mentioned in my initial post, this is a subjective test, so it all depends.
  8. Read my answer to your questions in this thread; and let’s continue the discussion pertaining to ATRAC3plus frequency analysis there.
  9. The two graphs have essentially the same information - the first: a linear graph and the second: a logarithmic graph. If you review the linear graph, you can see four set of audio signal or audio file so to speak. One being the original uncompressed file and the other three being ATRAC3plus file – 320kbps, 256kbps and 192kbps. *see the graph’s legend and scroll down the first page of this thread for more analytical comparison between other ATRAC3plus bit rates Divergence at the higher frequencies between the bit rates shown in the graph represents how efficient the compression method replicates the original recording. As you can see, a lowpass filter at 18 kHz was used for the ATRAC3plus 192kbps and the ATRAC3plus 256kbps along with ATRAC3plus 320kbps is almost indistinguishable from the original. It is important to note that it is almost impossible to discern the filter at 16 kHz let alone 17 kHz and 18 kHz.
  10. Sounds like a good idea; if there's no copyright issue, we can definitely upload it to the gallery section. Let me know how you would like to upload or transfer your collection.
  11. I have indeed and I can't discern any significant difference between the two bit rates. If you are interested, I have done a frequency analysis for the new bit rates: click here.
  12. The newer available ATRAC3plus bit rates - 320kbps, 192kbps, 160kbps, 128kbps and 96kbps, (except for ATRAC3plus 192kbps) are not useable with your NW-HD5. This is why encoded ATRAC3plus 128kbps tunes automatically reconvert to SonicStage 3.2's default ATRAC3plus bit rate setting of 64kbps during the transfer. If you would like to conserve disc space on our NW-HD5, try ATRAC3plus 192kbps instead of ATRAC3plus 256kbps.
  13. Interesting indeed. How did previously recorded Mixed Tapes fare? Thanks for keeping us posted. Edit: The Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape 09 is really something; track 11 is really cool .... I love it!
  14. I don't recall when this unit was first announced, but it's just your typical Sony bookshelf with MD, CD, Cassette and FM/AM tuner module. Nonetheless, it's relatively new for this quarter.
  15. Brilliant. The brushed magnesium face plate is really something; truly sets it like.no.other unit of its time. Enjoy.
  16. I bet most of you've seen a few cute AIBO here and there.... but have you seen 110 in one outing? Check this Europe AIBO meet... truly impressive. Source: AIBOard picture source

Specifications: Size: 36×13×57mm (width × height × depth) Weight: approx. 45g Power Rating/Capacity: DC 3.6V/2200mAh
  19. Welcome to ALC! Gapless playback is the seamless playback of digital audio tracks. The ATRAC format supports music playback without any pause or click, when played on a computer or DAP. This is important especially when one listens to live music or music genre that employs consecutive tracks (usually film scores, house or trance music). So, in essence the ATRAC format allows music to be heard exactly as they are mastered, without gaps between tracks.
  20. MD Simple Burner is an exclusive MD software. It will not recognize any Network Walkman.
  21. Leaving the DC-in out of the picture, the player will still receives a slow USB-charging once connected via USB to the PC. However, I believe charging cease upon file/music transfer mode.
  22. thread moved to "Live Recording" section of the forum
  23. The unit was probably damaged during shipping. Do not attempt your own quick fix and contact Jun Ibaraki for an immediate resolution.
