Sony VAIO Pocket VGF-AP1L Pictorial
Ishiyoshi replied to Ishiyoshi's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
@ PurdueU: Your query has been moved to this thread. Please review accordingly. -
Welcome to the forum! I have to move your post to its own thread since it's a technical related problem. This is definitely not a common issue. Please initiate repair service immediately. To initiate repair service, please review Sony's Service and Repair Locator and Request site.

The RM-MC40ELK; simply because it's the only remote that can display the 3-line track information with the MZ-NH1.

For Mp3 files, ensure that its filename (example: xxx.mp3) is in Roman letters. As for WMA files, ensure they have no copy protection. *Note: WMT compliant music files with copyright protection cannot be transferred. Most important, backup your "My Library" or ATRAC library before the upgrade to SonicStage 3.2.

Try this Sony AC-E30A worldwide AC Adaptor. --> you can review its information here.

With SonicStage 3.2, you can import tracks from CD without DRM (provided you deselect "add copy protection"). This is great if you intend to archive your tunes in ATRAC3plus for use between different system. However, you can't use your existing Hi-MD devices (be it 1st or 2nd generation units) to transfer ATRAC tunes that was transferred/encoded via SonicStage 3.2 to other PCs; DRM restriction is still present in the device itself. Please note: You can however, drag-and-drop non-DRM encoded ATRAC tunes into the Hi-MD discs as data files and re-import it to another PC with SonicStage 3.2.

I have tried the latest BeatJam and it's no different than SonicStage 3.2. BeatJam employs the same OpenMG Secure Module as SonicStage 3.2. In addition, I don't think BeatJam for BUFFALO is compatible with MacOSX; officially, the BUFFALO MD-HUSB device is only compatible with MacOSX as a removable data drive. But there's a work around to use SonicStage 3.2/BeatJam with a MacOSX; run a search within the forum for further instructions. *thread moved to "Software" section.

Get this Sony AC-E30A worldwide AC Adaptor and you will be fine. It works with the MZ-RH10 with no detrimental effects. --> you can review its information here.

When I say Sony's Network Walkman device can be somewhat finicky, I forgot to add that your device may not playback Mp3 of MPEG2Audio Layer3 properly. Nonetheless, please try dBpowerAMP Music Converter or ensure your Mp3 is of MPEG1Audio Layer3. I hope this will work. Otherwise, report back and await suggestions from HD5 owners.

Sonicstage 3.2 and PCNA-MR10 Roomlink Receiver
Ishiyoshi replied to BandBPeterson's topic in Software
I don't have the Roomlink device to simulate your problem. But as you have suspected, the PCNA-MR10 Roomlink device was designed for use with SonicStage 1.x; other VAIO products such as the PCV-MXS20 also have somewhat similar issue where its LCD panel would not display information with SonicStage 3.2 as it would with SonicStage 1.5 Premium edition. For possible solutions, perhaps you can create playlists, assigned SonicStage 3.2 to view by album and sort by genre. (these features can be found within the "My Library" window's top left and right area) If the problem still persists for you, I am afraid there's nothing much you can do. But I will try and get someone I know that has the Roomlink device to shed some light. -
Welcome to the forum! Perhaps the Mp3 in question was not encoded to the device's liking. Sony's Network Walkman device can be somewhat finicky. Try using tools such as dBpowerAMP Music Converter (can be downloaded from the "Download" section of the forum) and re-encode it as CBR type. Good luck.

You can only utilize standard 74/80min with NetMD/MD units; and if you want more capacity, you will have to settle for more lossy compression such as LP2 and LP4 at the expense of quality. Bottom-line: you can't utilize 1GB Hi-MD disc with NetMD/MD devices.
-
Have you tried other discs? If the problem still persists, I would say that your unit may suffer from optical block failure. The best thing to do is to send it for repair service. I doubt the service manual will help much; but if you are interested to review the NH900's service manual, please download it from the "Download" section of the forum.

Welcome to ALC! What sort of music files were you trying to transfer? ... from the PC to the VAIO Pocket or back to the PC from the VAIO Pocket? In addition, please upgrade your current SonicStage 2.3 to SonicStage 3.2. Download links for SonicStage 3.2 can be found in the "pinned" section of "Software" section of the forum; and a standalone version can be found in the "Download" section of the forum.

You can import the deck in question via AudioCubes.com. However, ensure that they have the specific unit in stock before you finalize your transaction. Recently, some members have reported discrepancy with how AudioCubes.com conducts its transaction in this thread.

I am sorry, the MZ-RH10 you have purchased is definitely not a Japanese version. Japanese MZ-RH10 comes bundled with color matching RM-MC35ELK remote, charging cradle and a worldwide 100-240V AC Adaptor. The version you have acquired is a US version; if not Canadian. *thread moved to Hi-MD section

It has been almost two years since I was last in Singapore; most Singaporean will advise you to visit Sim Lim Square - it's sometimes known as Singapore's Akihabara. Another possible location is Funan IT Mall. Good luck.

I believe you can use Marc's HIMDRENDERER program to convert ATRAC files to Mp3. Please review this guide for further details.

I think Rob meant to say MZ-E10 rather than MZ-N10.

For recorders, I would say the MZ-RH10, MZ-NH1 and MZ-NH900 (if you have a certain budget). The MZ-DH10P if you fancy the camera module. If you prefer magnesium build, the NH1 is the way to go. Similarly, if you prefer a unit with large display, go with the RH10. Each device has its strengths and the choice will come down to your listening/recording preference and your budget.
-
Answer to: 1) Go for Hi-MD; since you already own the N910. 2) The MZ-RH10 is not the best so to speak; but it's fair to state it's marginally better because it has a gorgeous large OLED display with Mp3 playback support. If you do not care for these new features, a 1st generation unit will be good enough. 3) Go with the Sharp NetMD - just got to love the AUVI Amp. 4) This is a really subjective topic - the SQ will depend on your listening preference and to the type of 'phones you employ. But just to give you an idea, the HD Amp found in some Hi-MD unit offers a somewhat warmer sound than the N910. 5) No difference in quality; just with capacity. With a standard: 74min MD = 270MB with Hi-MD mode, 80min MD = 291MB with Hi-MD mode. *for future reference: please post queries pertaining to topics such as "Should i buy a Net-md instead of Hi-md?" in "Find Your MiniDisc" section.
