That's correct - this has been discussed before. The NW-HD5 does not support ATRAC3plus 128kbps. Among the ATRAC3plus bit rates (320kbps, 352kbps, 256kbps, 192kbps, 160kbps, 128kbps, 96kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps) only the ones in bold are useable by the NW-HD5.

Welcome to ATRACLife! I am afraid we can't provide much assistance since your unit suffered a physical damage. If I remember correctly, the reset option of the NW-HD1 resides within its operational menu. Therefore, if your unit is still under warranty, please send it immediately for repair service. Do not tell them you drop the unit under any circumstances. Otherwise, you will have to pay for repair charges. Note: as a last resort, you could also try removing its internal battery to sort of "reset" the unit.
