Yes, indeed. The crystal case was actually made by another Japanese company that produces display stands and rubber/silicon cases for the Network Walkman, the PSP, the iPod and other DAPs. So, hopefully we will see a plethora of protective cases for the Network Walkman soon.

I am not sure why gapless support was left out. But I am sure a firmware update will rectify this issue. Remember the VAIO Pocket does not support gapless playback during its inception and gapless playback was possible only after a firmware update. Hopefully the A600 series will receive gapless support shortly via a firmware update.

Yes, I did in fact forgo the engraving option since I prefer the brushed aluminum in mint condition so to speak. It works pretty well - keeps dust and finger prints off the display area of the unit. The crystal case attaches onto the display screen area from the top and it is held in place by the way it’s molded – the crystal case itself is relatively flexible, takes the form of that display screen area (as shown in my pictorial) and sort of snap in place once it’s attached to the area in question.

I can confirm that the new A600 series doesn't not support gapless playback for ATRAC tunes. Hopefully, gapless playback will be implemented in future firmware updates.

Firmware update via Auto update works with my NW-A608SI. Perhaps, the firmware update notification pops up at random interval. I am pretty sure you will soon encounter the notification.

I believe the above reference meant the CONNECT Player Auto Update feature - software and firmware updates are available thru this feature only if you install CONNECT Player via the bundled CD-ROM.
