    NW-HD1 and NW-E507?

Yes you can use Connect for two devices. It is probably a good idea to give them different names (eg NWA1000L and NWA1000P) and use the drop down list for device names so you don't get the playlist/libraries confused when transferring songs.
  2. Yep normal business shirt. I'm hoping to take delivery of blue (and pink for the wife) A1000 next week from a MySony auction as I had no chance of winning a free one. Looks like Sony is trying increase MP3 player market penetration with some discounting before Xmas. The prices of the NWE400/600 have also dropped here. In fact SonyCentralSydney have the 505 for less than the 405.
  3. Ascariss, Thanks I was thinking that the A3000 would be a little too heavy to carry comfortably in your shirt pocket. Strange to see discounting here in the 1st week of release (and still not sure if the A3000 is physically in any shops yet.).
  4. This week my local Retravision store's Xmas catalogue has the NWA1000 for $349AUD and the NWA3000 listed at $399AUD which are quite large reductions on the RRP already. (This time I'm looking at the page and not relying on memory) The 6GB A1000 at these prices looks to be good value compared to the 4GB ipod Nano at $359
  5. A chance to win 1 of 10 NWA1000s by playing a game on the Australian Sony site. http://www.sony.com.au/walkman/article.jsp?id=3719 After a few moments a menu appears under the walkman logo, then select "game" to play. Closes 31 January 2005. The game is copying the order that the buttons on screen are pressed. Good luck.
  6. Page 67 of the manual indicates that you cannot activate hold if the unit is switched off. As Ascariss says: You must first turn it on then press the hold button until "Hold On" appears and let the unit turn itself off with the hold function enabled and the controls locked.
  7. That would be the advantage of the limited edition Black - it stays pretty much the same colour regardless of the lighting. Are you tempted by the dock ? Does the A3000 feel like its nearly twice the weight of the A1000 ?
  8. Sony US do sell cases for 400/500 series (which they call a Core Walkman) Carabiner Style Carrying Case for Core™ Walkman® MP3 Player CK-NW2 $19.99US. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....bName=acc&var2= I got to it by selecting accessories for the NWE407. If I do this on the Oz site it displays the accessories that come with the player. I wish Sony would more consistant. Then again the Oz site seems to be maintained by a bunch of drunken sailors. Sony NewZealand has also has it CKNW2 Network Walkman Leather Carry Case $24.95 NZD RRP GST Inclusive
  9. Ascariss, Nice pictures. The reflectivity is a bit hard to deal with when photographing these. I still lean towards the 1000 even though the 3000 seems only marginally larger. Your silver ones look dark although not as dark as the one I handled in the shop. The colour really changes with the lighting doesn't it. Do you have the USB cradle/dock ? Good to see you haven't neglected your Minidisc either.
  10. Ascariss - realistically probably the NWA1000. From the photos it looks the better proportioned of the two but would like to see them both physically side by side. Which of your two do you prefer ?
  11. Finally the NWA1000s are in the shops and look much better than the photos suggest. JB-HiFi has them for $377 - now where did I put that ad quoting $359!(slight memory problem here it was only a $2 reduction not $20; the A3000 was "slashed" to $439)* Sadly didn't see any NWA3000s which are due to come out soon. Perhaps it is being delayed a little due to the ready supply of NWHD5 in shops. However with retailers advertising it Sony should hurry and bring it out or receive another dent to its reputation here.
  12. The NWA1000s are back on Sony Australia for $379AUD This morning the online shop said they were all out of stock except for the violet. Seems the others should be in by 16Dec - but you know Sony. USB cradle is listed $59 AUD Leather Case $39 AUD Polyester Case $29 AUD Remote $39 AUD No sign of the NWA3000 nor the NWA600s but the NWHD5 has re-appeared. JB-HiFi & Domayne had ads this week with NWA1000 and NWA3000 for sale. Interestingly JB was discounting them by $2 not $20($377)*& $10($439)* respectively but I have not been into a shop to see if they actually have any.
  13. Sony UK refers to the RM-MC35ELK as an alternative remote for the NWA1000/3000 and has a two page manual for it. http://www.sonydigital-link.com/manuals/ma...K%20(NW-A)&l=en
  14. Too right. The same with my MDR-EX51SL. I loop the long right side through the plastic capsule thing which makes it a little shorter and keeps the capsule handy to pack the buds into when I get to work. Also noticed that the medium and small inserts really change the sound dynamics with the medium being very bassy while the small are much more natural (same effect with the MDR-NX1s)
  15. Seem to remember that the service manual lists 5-6 different main circuit boards for the 500 series. Perhaps some have the FM range hard coded while the Japanese OverSeas model could be altered.
  16. That sounds all too plausible. And the latest Pulse issue has several pages referring to the 407.

    NW-A608 availability

Ascariss, thanks for the clarification, it was a bit of selective reading on my part. Haven't seen any mention of the NWA608 in Australia yet but atleast the A1000/A3000 are supposed to be released in December.

    NW-A608 availability

A firmware upgrade for the A608 before it is released sounds like a serious quality control problem somewhere. Then again the E407 & E505s I purchased in Australia a couple of recently still only had the original v1.0 firmware. Unfortunately Sony Aust likes to hide any firmware updates on its site. Also you would expect that they could advise you that there is newer V2 available when you register these products.
  19. Sony Australia site indicates that they will be available from Friday 2nd December if you try an order one. Hopefully Sony will be able to keep to this date. Now what colour and which size ? Could not see the NWA600s
  20. The new "Aura" NWA1000L/S/P/V $379 & NWA3000S/V $449 are finally on the Sony Australia site as pre-order items. They are the only HDDs, no sign of the NWHD5s.
  21. try following the step by step instructions on Sony's Pacific support site using the firmware for your own country Network Walkman NW-E403/E405/E407 Firmware Upgrade Program http://www.css.ap.sony.com/consumer/templa...=Personal+Audio
  22. I think only the NWE500s are Pink and the NWE400s are Red
  23. Try logging to Sony Style Canada (you probably only need to register a product to join) and see if they have any special events such as "Christmas Night Sales Special" . Sony Style Australia has them running 22Nov-13Dec2005 with pre-sales for the all new harddisk mp3 walkman-I'm not entirely sure what pre-sales means but they are supposed to have them on display.
  24. Ascariss, if your Canadian Sony magazine is anything like the newest Australian one then you will be very disappointed by the extreme low level of information or specifications on Sony's equipment in it. Our's has turned into a glossy lifestyle magazine ad spread. I hope that three years is not the life expectancy of these new HDD units.
  25. The Australian Spring/Summer 05 Edition of Sony Pulse has NWA3000/1000 as breaking news (finally) but some poor sod used a picture of a NWE400/500 Flash MP3 player. Further on they have the NWA3000/1000 as Styled for Sound. "Why it's unique: This is a very style focused model." If these units can "record three years of playback history which can be searched"; how much of the storage capacity is taken over by this function ? Can you turn this functionality off ?
