  1. kerfuffle, Seems that China makes most things these days. Still I'd rather made in China than Nigeria. If you don't mind a neckstrap/lanyard type then Minidisc Australia is selling the MDR-NX1 for $77AUD (RRP about $120) The light blue is nice and they feel a bit more sturdy than the EX51. http://www.minidisc.com.au/default.php?cPath=10_38 They also have the Sennheiser CX300 @ $75AUD. Earphone are very subjective and some people rather these better than MDR-EX90s while others hate them.
  2. Kerfuffle, The plastic coating on the cord for the earphones on the EX51 feels very thin but if you're careful should last well. Don't wind them around sharp edges. I've had a pair of EX51 for a couple of years and they have survived daily train travel with the player either in my backpack or pocket connected to a remote. Becareful when closing the plastic case. I closed the internal ribs onto one of the silcon ear buds which now has a small nick in it. And also watch out for the cord as the case could cause crimps in the cords if you don't position them correctly. The case reduces tangles in the earphones when they're not being used.

    No more NW-A3000B?

While in Domayne @ Epping on Saturday I noticed that they had several A1000 & surprise an A3000. Which was a shock as I haven't see an A3000 for since Feb/March. The Sony Australia site shows the A3000V as available but none of the others. Minidisc Australia still shows A1000S/L

    No more NW-A3000B?

Yes the A1000/3000s look a lot better in real life. The photos never really captured them properly - too reflective perhaps. Roll on October.

    S2 Sports MP3 Player

good find aznbro85, These S2 Sports™ Walkman® MP3 Players featuring an FM tuner, pedometer, stopwatch and calorie counter(!) in such a small package are amazing. Hopefully you can turn off the Shuffle Shake feature. Wonder if Sony has a replacement HDD player for the NWA1000-3000 due for release just after NW-S205F ?
  6. Have a look in the downloads section of this forum under operating manuals they are on the second page as: "Full user manual for the NW-E403/E405/E407." There are also service manuals for disassembling the unit and part number references but they have no instructions for operating the E407.
  7. Glad to hear you turned the situation to your advantage. It does seem like odd logic about the A1200 & case, maybe the shop was desperate to show some sort of sale. What sort of case was he offering you? Even the leather A1000/1200 is worth only $39AUD and Sony had a special offer on it here for $6AUD recently.
  8. Try re-connecting and your A3000 to ConnectPlayer and see if that rectifies the problem. If not you may be able to amend the ratings using CP.
  9. Angrybadger, Sorry to hear your experience. That was a pretty disappointing response from the shop manager. Its not as if there are all that many new A1000s around as replacements and the A1200 is only a marginal increase in size. £39.00 is a lot to expect someone to pay for the privilge of having to return and replace a defective piece of equipment. Seems Sony shop staff are specifically selected on lack of product knowledge and their ability to upset & discourage their customers ?
  10. It would be interesting to know if they have an feasible explaination for this problem and nice if they replace it with an A1200.
  11. I don't think that the MDR-EX90s are available in Australia yet and if they were would probably be more than $120AUD. As alternatives you might consider: * JVC HA-FX55 (a more natural sound than the EX51/71 but very thin and long cord) * Panasonic RP-HJE50 * Sennheiser CX300 (a more natural sound than the EX51/71 but may depend on your choice of music)

    NW-E405 Device Issue

You should make sure that your E405 is fully charged before starting a firmware update. Didn't have any problem with existing music files on the device after update. I didn't think there was a calendar on the E400/500 only the A1000/1200/3000 after the last update.
  13. Have you tried resetting your A1000 ? If that doesn't help try contacting a Sony service centre.
  14. Does the reset button do anything ?
  15. Welcome beebob, I'd suggest taking it back to the shop or contacting a Sony service centre.

    NW-A1000

mmmmm The images are jpgs. But whenever I try to drag them over the Connect square the cursor turns into a circle with a line through it. I'll have another go with the quick search and see what happens tonight. rjw213, How are you doing with your problem ?

    NW-A1000

Ascariss, Thanks for the hint. However I must have CP setup differently as I can't drag and drop but have to edit the song properties to add the album art.
  18. I think you're right in the only way to have the A1000 on hold while it is off is to turn it on first. Probably uses an electronic switch unlike most other portable audio devices like Minidisc players or say an NWE505 which can be placed in hold while turned off. I clean mine with a soft cloth. "thirdly how i can find out whether the song is being copied at 64kps, at preference option of connect software" - I recall that you can setup transfers with preferred modes in the preference options. The hold functions on the player and remote are independant. You can put the player in hold but still use the remote to change things. And you can put the remote on hold and control the player with its own controls.

    NW-A1000

As Ascariss suggests keep CP if it runs ok. In fact I've both CP and SonicStage on my laptop. Just don't run them both at the same time. I prefer SS as I've used it for a while with Minidisc players and find it a bit easier to manipulate my library (and I like to put the album cover art in-small as it is)

    NW-A1000

Do you wait until ConnectPlayer finishes loading before connecting your A1000. Perhaps initialising the A1000 may help. Have you the latest version of A1000 firmware eg V3 http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1733 What version of ConnectPlayer are you using ? Personally I prefer SonicStage (V3.3, V3.4 or V4) to ConnectPlayer.
  21. Seems like some more embarrassment for Sony after telling us about the PS3s wonderful specs then having to downgrade them. "and may end-up using external 400W power supply" Sounds like the old power brick arrangement that my Amiga500 had.
  22. That doesn't sound normal the only lines I see are the horizontal duration and volume bars and some vertical scroll bars when going throught the library. Maybe an idea to take it back to the shop or service centre.
  23. Nice find Firebird, they're styled a bit differently from the usal in-ear phones. The a site suggested a $100 RRP (US I suppose) which is around the same area as the Sony EX90 isn't it. The case is stylish too. Wonder how the cleaning tool works ? The rubber ear bud looks pretty standard, can they really justify a trademark name (AuraSeal™) for it. To replace your CX300s
  24. Yeh, the A1000/3000 likes to let you know if there isn't enough charge before updating the firmware. Finglonga, welcome to the forum.
  25. I think Sony were trying to sell as much stock of the E505/7 as possible.
