The NWE00* series look like finally arriving in Australia from around 15June2006 but MySony members can get hold of a limited number (only 20 of each colour available) of them before the official launch. NWE003 SRP$159AUD 1GB Flash Walkman Violet, Black, Green, Blue, Pink NWE005 SRP$199AUD 2GB Flash Walkman Violet, Black Sony NewZealand has had these for a while although they appear to be a little more expensive there. NWE003 $199.95NZD = $168AUD NWE005 $269/95NZD = $227AUD Then again they have the NWA608 !

Is that the hinted at walkman to combat the video ipod ? The CE-P13/5/7 could have been another of Sony's regional beta tester trials for it under guide of a proper retail product. How well accepted were these anyway ? I'd like to see firmware update to have an option for continuous play thorugh an artists albums (as Channy said previously). Wouldn't mind seeing total time for a song displayed as well as time elapsed. They've given us a calendar so un update to allow us to add events/appointments to it and view it for a reasonable time too.

When I was comparing the CX300 with EX51. I had to switch the small earpad on the EX51 to medium and it improved the bass sound in particular and the isolation. It is not quite as comfortable but more secure. Nevertheless the CX300 is still superior.

Yahoo! With Firmware V3 the folder buttons on the MC35 finally work correctly.

Sort of like the colour OLED display on the CE-P13/5/7.

Ascariss, What sort of extra capability do you envisage ?
-
Stuge is it possible that you may have a defective pair of CX300 ? I just rec'd mine on Friday from Wicked Digital. Straight out of the box they are noticably louder than EX51 & NX1 by 3-5 on the volume setting for A1000 or N407. The sound has is clearer with more bass definition & pressance than the Sonys. The Sony's bass is "boomier" compared to their more neutral sound. This is with a medium size ear pad. It will be interesting to see how they age.

Great work. Atleast I can have an icon of one on my desktop until they're released here.

Have some MX500 for my laptop mainly because of their volume control. They have a reasonably good sound but are not the most comfortable earphones around and easily fall out. The standard Sony earphones are more comfortable but don't seem to sound as good. I saw a review where the MX550 have a superior sound to MX500 and are likened to the CX300 without the sound isolation aspects.

I'm probably wrong but I think Tiesto is talking more in terms of media storage failure. eg if your Harddisk fails you've lost your whole portable music collection and it has to be serviced or replaced but if your minidisc fails you've only lost one disk's worth not everything and you can just pop in another minidisc. Stuge you may want to consider investing in a minidisc lens cleaner disc for your new DH10P.

thanks......gads that is alarming news. Good for you that it was inside warranty but a poor life expectancy nevertheless. Is this typical of other HDD players ? Now I'm wondering about my A1000 and that bit at the back of the manual about disposing of the player correctly!!!!

f1rick, how long did your NWHD5H's last before their hard drives started failing ?
-
Sounds like there would be a chance to fix the problems by editing the XP registry but its probably safer just to reinstal XP. The songs pre-installed on an A1000 were: "Dance Karate" by Paperface from The Legend Of Harley Knowles ATRAC256kbps 4:07mins "Feelin' Hypnotized(Kaskade Mix)" by Colette from Hypnotized ATRAC256kbps 6:45mins

The Sony Central in Sydney Australia today has advertised the A1000 @$50AUD below its lowered $349 RRP plus a free leather case. Similarly to Kaledi's observation the Sony Australia on-line doesn't seem to have any stock of the A1000 or A3000. And the latest Pulse magazine has "limited availabity" noted next to them but alas no mention of the A1200. 8GB seems a half hearted sort of increase anyway why not atleast 10G or 12GB !

If you also need a flashdrive, look for one that includes a lanyard. Or try Sony MDR-NE1* earphones with a lanyard.

Looking at the device panel after tranferring it seems that the albums are list in the order they were originally transferred for a minidisc or NWE407. But an NWA1000 lists them alphabetically regardless of transfer order.. For the minidisc or E407 the album order can be re-arranged by selecting that album and dragging it to a next position. Hopefully your HD3 will let you do this.

The A1000/A3000 screens have problems with reflection and glare in bright sunlight particularly due to the curved surface which picks up light from everywhere. Thankfully we're now into Autumn here. The E400/500/A600 are easier to deal with as their display area is smaller & flatter making them able to be shielded with your hand.

Have you updated to the latest version for ConnectPlayer for your region ? As an alternative try using SonicStage V3.3 or V3.4 but make sure that ConnectPlayer is not open at the same time. However you won't be able to use ArtistLink or some of the statistics based CP functions (no great loss as far as I can see anyway)

doomlordis' Black NW-E005 Pictorial-Review
bogon07 replied to doomlordis's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Thanks. The battery life is very impressive. Your usage is very similar to mine @ 2-3 hrs 5 days a week but at 64kbps (which is ok for the train). Just when I was thinking that I don't need any more SONY stuff except maybe the new minidisc recorder ....... -
doomlordis' Black NW-E005 Pictorial-Review
bogon07 replied to doomlordis's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
"have a a608 and always thought it was too big, the e005 feels a LOT smaller"- doomlordis Always thought the E4/5/600 felt just about right, that the weight added a feeling of solidity. The e005 looks more appealing everytime I see it. Good to hear that the sound quality is as similar to the Core type players. What's the battery usage like ? -
Same here and anyway the Sony connect store downloads are only available in some countries.
-
Similarly Sony Australia still has the A3000 on the site but has been out of stock for ages. Is Sony building up numbers for USA now that they've patched ConnectPlayer again ?

"The patent granted last month would allow Sony to lock a game disc to the first console the technology was played on so that it could not be then be used on another device" What halfwit thought up that idea ! What happens if you upgrade your PS2. What about stores that may a demonstrate game on their machine then shrink wrap and sell it, a consumer nightmare.

I haven't had any problems with SonicStage 3.0-3.4 using custom themes on a desktop and a laptop PC. Used to use ThemeXP but now just an EnergyBlue self instal theme based on Media XP. f1rick your grey bar & play controls look much better than the standard white ones.

Thanks for the pictures, NW-Lover Surprising to see white earphones rather than the standard Sony black ones included.
