    NW-A1000 & REMOTES

Yep, Stuge is correct. The folder button doesn't appear to function correctly it usually just selects the next or previous song. Sometimes it will select the first song from different artists or albums depending on the play mode you are in. Same for the MC38EL which looks the identical except that the volume control is about 2-3mm longer. The MC33 functions pretty much the same but without a backlit LCD. I remember that the UK A1000/A3000 support page had a 2-3page PDF manual for the RM-MC35.

    Got a working NW-E003

Well done, What colour is it ? Does the NW-E003 function like a normal flash drive when plugged into the PC without using SonicStage ?
  4. Spheres by Keith Jarrett. Spheres (1st Movement) Spheres (4th Movement) Spheres (7th Movement) Spheres (9th Movement) and now realising why I don't listen to it very often.
  5. "If this wasn’t enough to make you rush out and buy your E Series WALKMAN, it’s also worth noting that it comes fully equipped with stop watch and a clock and calendar function too. And if you are a radio fan the 512 MB and 1 GB versions have the option of an *FM tuner. *FM tuner versions not available from all retailers."-SonyUK I can't understand why a clock & radio couldn't have been included with the A1000/A3000 .
  6. Interesting find Kamil. Another set of flash players after the March announcement. The handle projection on the bottom makes the unit bigger than it needs to be. Why release in such small memory sizes? These days you would expect the minimum to be 1GB. Wonder if the file transfer is drag and drop. Can't see any mention of SonicStage. The product page has a walkman logo, maybe they haven't had time to add that to their mockups.
  7. Damage & LowVolta have excellent reviews on Panasonic HJE50s in the minidisc forums. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=10384 These HJE70s look like they could address some of the build problems of the E50s. However I usually find that the area with most problems is where the cords join the earphones and jack.
  8. All mine were registered via SonyStyle Australia and am listed for all their newsletters too. Anyway here is an update on the A1000 case: Payment approved Delivery being prepared for dispatch 03/04/2006 Finally delivered 11/04/06.
  9. Miura, I did try that once. Opened up the song properties in SS3.3 to find that the track numbers for the affected songs were blank and so set about giving them the correct numbers. However the next time I tried to use the A1000 it was stuck continuously making the same tone and when I pressed the stop button it displayed a system error (which indicated the player should be taken to a Sony service centre). A reset fixed this. The cause of my problem seems to be transferring the songs via SonicStage then shutting down and connecting the A1000 to ConnectPlayer (I foolishly thought it would update the statistics on the unit).
  10. Nope, Nor any mention of the firmware updates for NWE400/500s; these were released here after the update was available but with the original version. There was a small line on Sony Australia's site about this update and a rather well buried link to AsiaPacific support for it.
  11. Stuge, I've already ordered one for my wife's A1000P. It is expected to be delivered within 5 business days. Interesting that Sony can send emails like this for your registered products but not advice on firmware updates.
  12. I rec'd an email from Sony yesterday afternoon: "Thank you for registering your Walkman NWA1000 with My Sony. For a limited time only, we are offering all members who own this product the chance to purchase a leather case for just $8.50. Offer expires 13th April 2006" CKMNWA1000 WALKMAN 1000 SERIES LEATHER CASE, SRP$39AUD for only $8.50AUD So Australian owners of A1000s join SonyStyle and register your player to take up this offer. Remember to log in before shopping Online for this to avoid having to pay delivery charges.
  13. Windows sound recorder has the option to increase or decrease the volume of a wave file by 25% increments. It would be possible to use that to increase the volume of a song in *.wav format then import it into SonicStage to convert to an ATRAC file. Dedicated audio editing programs may have more options open to manipulating sound files but probably not directly on ATRAC files.
  14. They look very classy & hightech for earbuds. AudioCubes has 4 or 5 very favourable reviews for them. Some mention that they are an improvement over the MDR-EX71 http://www.audiocubes.com/product_info.php...7e247395c4fdd14
  15. I might try deleting and transferring again to see if that fixes it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The song order on the A1000 corrected itself when I reconnected to SonicStage this afternoon. Bizarre.
  16. I've noticed that my A1000 sometimes reverses the order of songs for an album. They are in correct order SonicStage but after the whole album is transferred they appear and play in reverse order in the A1000. The A1000 has firmware 2 installed. Happens with SS 3.3 & 3.4. It is really annoying with a live concert when the last song plays first and songs that lead into one another. I suppose this could be overcome by making a playlist of the album. Anyone else come across something like this ?
  17. Yeh, that one looks really nice. It is a limited SonyStyle Japan edition one isn't it ?
  18. By using only original Sony Memory Sticks rather than SD cards. Or Playstation memory cartridges. And yet another unique USB connector. Is AAC some sort of format for mobile phone music files ? I wonder if Panasonic is using Sony's OLED display technology on these units? Pity Panasonic didn't have a go at Hi-MD Minidisc instead.
  19. Stuge the site has a link to Panasonic's spec page which has the dimensions of the unit 57.5mm x 45mm x 15mm @ 37-25grams. So the SD570 would be about as wide as an A1000 but shorter and weigh a lot less. Atleast this one looks better than Panasonics previous square box model from last year. The biggest draw back is having to get an SD card on top of the cost of the player but with flash card prices dropping they way they are these days it could become economical to get a couple of 512MB or 1GB cards in the near future. I wonder if Sony will be tempted to try one of these players ?
  20. http://www.dapreview.net/comment.php?comment.news.3089 Panasonic will be releasing three new models in Japan on 21st April. They have no memory but take SD cards and have over 100 hours playback. The most interesting is the SV-SD510, no FM: 17k Yen ($145 USD) SV-SD570V, with FM radio & voice record: 19K Yen ($162 USD) which looks sort of like a more angular NWA1000. • Orange or White casing • OLED display • Wearable design, lanyard included • No built in memory • SD card slot • Plays MP3, WMA, AAC • Panasonic D.sound DSP chip • Up to 115 hours playback with extra battery attachment
  21. Are you suggesting that the best thing about the MDR-NC50s is their Carrying Case which fits some Eggos and your blue RH10 perfectly ? Now that would make a nice Sony limited edition gift set to promote HiMD sound quality.
  22. Ishiyoshi once again fantastic photos. The SA5000s really look impressive and the special stand is a great idea. How would they compare in SQ to the SA1000s that damage has ?
  23. The A600 series seems to be a progression from the E400/500 CORE series so it would make sense to try and wait until they are available. Hopefully the pressure from the new Nanos will drive prices down by the time they are released in the US (& Australia if at all). I'd like to see an A600 with 4-6GB capacity.
  24. Here is a bit from the MC35 manual: (4)Finds the beginning of the first track in the previous ablum in the selected search mode or in the next album, or the track previous to the currently playing track in the track list or the next track. When "All Songs" is selected, finds the beginning of an index or the first track in the next index. I'm using it on an A1000 and had the same problem with the folder buttons just cycling through tracks on the same album. After reading peterjf's reply I found that I could cycle through the first tracks of different albums of the same artist after selecting "all songs" for that artist. Ok if you're listening to Eno or someone with a lot of albums but you need to use the player itself as well as the remote. By selecting "all songs" on the player you can cycle throught the first song for each letter of the alphabet which is not all that useful. peterjf.....Sony Australia has that sleek remote (RMNWS1) on its site for $39AUD and I've also seen it in a shop.
  25. As STUGE says I don't think it is Local=mono or DX=stereo. More like a reduced sensitivity to the signal or a filter to reduce interference. The manual mentions this a few times but without any detailed explanation.
