  1. I have the very first memory stick walkman and I STILL like it. My vote is for the BEAN. I bought one and gave it away within a week.
  2. I had the exact same problem with my HD3 as well. I think it is something to do with a bug in the 'Auto transfer' feature. I reformatted the HD3 and transferred my entire library again. It doesn't take very long. Transfer speeds on the HD walkmans are very quick. Incidentally,I don't use the auto transfer feature any more . Anthony
  3. I contacted CONNECT EUROPE and this is their reply ( direct copy and paste) Thank you for your enquiry. On Friday 15th June, Connect US made a re-organisation announcement that has since been extensively reported on the internet. Unfortunately, most of these reports are largely incorrect. The Connect Europe team would like to emphasise the two following points, to any and all of its customers who may be concerned by the mis-reported information: The Connect music service is not shutting down, either in Europe, the United States or Japan. The Connect Europe team will continue to improve its service, and offer more great new music titles and promotions, exactly as usual. If you have any further questions on this mater, please feel free to e-mail back. In the meantime, thank you for your continued custom, and we look forward to continuing to offer you great music to buy, and selected free video downloads! Yours sincerely, The CONNECT team! CONNECT, a division of Sony United Kingdom Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. Registered office: The Heights, Brooklands, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 0XW - Registered company number: 2422874.................... So, there you have it then!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I work nights so I don't see people until PM..........Just in case you were thinking aob9 is lonely and sad with only Atraclife as a friend. Cheers
  5. I would have expected to see something on this from the 'in the knows' at Atraclife by now. There was a prediction made weeks ago that Sony is 'To change Everything'........ and then total silence. To me this issue is at the very core of this website and requires comment.
  6. Thanks Markey, you got there before my family....!!!??? but it's early yet!
  7. Yes, but you have to PAY for Media Manager for PSP and it is not required for PSP to function. Sony's Walkmans REQUIRE Sonicstage in order to play music. I don't intend to fork out for something I have already paid for.
  8. Would this 'Media Manager' support existing devices or new devices only?
  9. Okay, I just tried 'Riders on the Storm' with both the S703 and the A805.The EQ was off and I used my Seinnheiser CX300's. The A805 is indeed slightly louder and sharper than the S703. However, I have to admit that a little tweek of the bass and volume almost brings it into line with S703. Of the two I prefer the 'warmer' sound of the S703. How is it that two devices released so closely together can have a different soundstage?
  10. I own both the NW-S703 and the NW-A805. I listen to both units with my Seinheisser CX-300 'phones. I love these 'phones as they are tiny and provide excellent clarity and bass for the price. All my music is ripped at MP3 192kbps. I agree with a lot of the comments here that the A80* sound is sharper than the S703. I find I use more bass on the A805 to get the same sound.I will try the 'Riders on the Storm' test when I get home.
  11. Check this guy out on ebay. He is reputable and runs a shop in Oxford ( I think ). I received this case 3 days after ordering. http://electronics.search.ebay.co.uk/_MP3-...39QQsassZ353916
  12. do a system restore. back up SS first
  13. Videos can be 'drag and dropped' into the video folder for the NW-A80*, no conversion required, same for the PSP, I've tried both.
  14. Yes, on CONNECT Europe.
  15. Has anybody seen this yet?....I just discovered it today!!!!
  16. I love it, now I know how they really make their money. I have a box of these in the shed.....little did I know they were worth $6,131.
  17. Fake Sony and Sandisk Memory Sticks are almost perfect in every way except they won't work with Atrac. In other words 'MagicGate' is non-functional! Beware of Chinese sellers on Ebay ( and elsewhere ).
  18. 1....Be careful with VBR, some people have had problems converting MP3 VBR's to Atrac, I personally haven't but be warned. 2...........SonicStage 4.0 Full installer here......http://www.atraclife.com/downloads/details.php?file=19........not for Vista and doesn't have Connect Music Store. You can also upgrade to 4.3 from within the program if you wish.............Good Luck
  19. Try changing the default installation folder....just remember which one you chose!
  20. I wonder how people really feel about the new 'High Quality' headphones supplied with the NW-S70* and the NW-A80* series of Walkmans. Personally, I still use my Seinheisser CX-300's except when I need noise canceling. This is more than just habit, I find they are of exceptional sound quality and they have a very tidy form factor. I would say they are the smallest and lightest I have seen so far. If I had one complaint ( and only one ) about the supplied buds it would be the need for an extension cord almost all of the time.

    NW-A800 Transfer Speeds

Even allowing for the slow transfer speeds to the NW-A800 that is a fairly quick vacuum clean..................any tips????
  22. ME.........Seinheisser CX-300's, Industrial and Hard Rock ( Nine Inch Nails today ) MP3 192K; Eq Setting........CB+3,00012. Dynamic Normaliser 'off' DSEE 'off'. Question, Why would Clear Stereo only work with supplied phones?
  23. With SS4.3 you can rip in ATRAC3plus format without copy protection. At least you won't have the DRM to potentially trip you up.Click>music source>import cd>settings ( the little toolbox icon ) >Atrac settings>untick add copyright protection.I would still make your music folder the default windows music file. It just makes locating your music easier later. Alternatively, you could rip in high Quality MP3 and convert to ATRAC afterwards. You can do this in the settings for transferring to your player.Select Transfer>'Atrac Device ( your player)> settings ..tick'convert to specified format and transfer' and select whichever you like.If you click 'Advanced' you will have the option to remove the converted files from your PC after transfer to save HDD space. (how much space would 10GB of ATRAC3PLUS at 64kbps take up if they were in WAV format?) A HUGE AMOUNT OF SPACE considering a CD is approx 800mb. And what would be the best program (main focus being quality) to rip Cd's into MP3 format? SOME PEOPLE HERE SUGGEST SOMETHING CALLED HYDROGEN AUDIO ( I THINK) but I can't comment on that.If you use third party software to rip you will need to import the files to SS.Not a problem but an extra step in the process.
  24. Uh Oh, when you 'just delete' IE it leaves an awful mess and it won't re-install either. I had the same problem and was left with no choice but a complete re-install of Windows. Try www.pcadvisor.co.uk and post your query on the 'Help room' forum. There are some fairly smart people there.

    NW-A800 Transfer Speeds

I have the NW-HD3 and the NW-A805. The transfer speeds to the HD3 are MUCH faster. If transfer speed is important you may be dissapointed. I don't understand why this is, I always thought that access to flash memory on MP3 players was faster than to HDD.
