Just wondering how you folk are labelig your discs. Are you typing them on a templete, writing in or what?? I cant read half of my scrathed on labels so I'm thinking of relabeling all my discs. Any good ideas?
-
Hey, ever get that unit cleaned up. Can't wait to see the pics
-
That's what I thought. I have about half of my discs in MD and the other half in Hi Md which wont play on my house deck of course. I keep hoping to find a way to drag and drop MD from MAC but alas no luck...yet!
-
This is an issue I usually dont deal with when I should. I have several old units that I cant find batteries for and this thread got me thinking about the RH1. The options are to buy a few batteries and hope they don't diminish before I use them or pray Sony keeps making them. Life sure has it issues with a dying format...
-
What I should have said is "Can you do that with the drop and drag on the mac?" But I guess I will just try it and see. For me MD is jsut fine. I see no real benefits to HiMd except that it works on my Mac
-
Guitarfxr, how do you record standard MD on the RH1?
-
I think they have been on this trail for awhile as the concensus is this is what the public wants. If the quality is as good as the specs show, this new Sony will be a suburb recorder/player. Since I don't need a "live" unit I will wait it out until a consumer unit is made with high quality specs that shows album art and easily transfers to Pc/Mac.

I stick with Sony discs ( don't know why the others dont work as well) and have no problem
-
Yeah, get the RH1 and its easy (unless its PCM). Drop and drag on my Mac

Those do look nice, all my players are black, but not by choice -just seems to be the only color available when i buy -
ES series woold be a dream, but even a little more power would be enticing. Im sure these are nice enough, but I like it to crank
-
They look very nice, wish they were a little more high end

Gotta go with the flow here, the discs all sound the same and its seems, so far, they hold up equally well. I would agree the casing is the difference. The holy grail being the Hello Kitty Mds ...not

An afterthought.. Are they still selling new MD walkman units in Japan?
-
I have no idea. Never thought of it and am not planning to upgrade to Leopard
-
Yeah, I think you're good until your hardware dies (if). No reason for worry as far as i can tell. Now if they come up with an MMD that shows artwork I'd be in heaven
-
I love Sonic Stage too. I just hope the Gracenote connection still works after Connect is pulled.
-
Sorry you're low on flow but look at the cool machine you scored. I always wanted one of those. Loved the flat finish..and no, I never had an 8 Track recorder, couldnt afford one back then otherwise I would have had one
-
And that to me is the crux of the issue. I love the format and the ability to record and playback and reuse as needed and desired. But, if the format is no longer supported, my ability to safely continue with it is twarted and I am faced with bailing now and switching over to a new format or holdignon and hoping i can get media and hardware as needed. I'm really tire of changing formats. Ive lived through records, 8 tracks, cassettes MD, ( even DCC) and now Cd and mp3. Ahh....
-
Maybe the hardware is the key, but I've always enjoyed the Atrac sound ( though not the grief involved with SS or even Connect) over any of the other formats (MP3 etc). I fiigure that Atrac lovers will be a rare few like Md fans and envision people looking for old hardware on Ebay to support the format for years to come-though in minute numbers
-
For me the attraction to MD and Hi-MD has always been sound. For all the ongoing complaints about Atrac, I think it sound great. I've never heard a great Mp3 player, though I love the ease and convenience of my IPod (yes, I have one), I will not part wiith MD until I am convinced of an apt alternative. A second reason is I dont trust hard disk as I've lost everything on my computer and externals on more than one occasion/ So why am I writing? I want to know what others are thinking along these lines and why others are still using MD/Hi-MD. I appreciate and look forward to your thoughts

Very nice for songwriter basic demos. Slap on phones and record. I love it

I'm thinking about getting a Sony ECM-DS70P for my Hi MD to use for lectures (no music). Any thoughts about this mic?

Does Hi-MD better have sound quality over the Ipod?
bobzilli replied to minidisciskewl's topic in The Loft
the ONLY reason i use a MD is for the sound. TheIpod is much more flexible and i only use top quality headphones (Shure E5/Sennhieser HD600) The IPod sound is lame all around, even with 320+ downloads -

There are better sounding DAPs out there than Ipods. The Cowan and Sonys come to mind, but still not up to MD quality
