Heard these were coming a few months back but I thought it was strange they were the ONLY new ones with this new..a.."feature". I agree with previous posters that I would like real drag n drop, without DRM, but I do like the quality of ATRAC and am weary.Then aain, I dont plan on buying one of these anyway, so...

Yes, I have an MZ-1. Don't use it much but can't seem to part with it. A great machine. The best built electronic device I've ever owned

I hjave never lost a MD or HIMD recording, and that goes back to the first MD unit Sony made, which I still have. Hard drives on the other hand have been an ongoing source of grief for me. I've had two of them dioe ome and lost everything both times. Now I consider them a convienience and not a storage platform

In Many ways , I wish they would come out with a closing statement in the form of Remaking the MZ-1 the very first Recorder , but in HiMd format and a 4 AA slide in battery pack I agree!!!

The Cowan sounds great and has the volume needed. The only PAP with sound on a level with an MD and no, I don't own one-yet

Yeah, now that these guys helped me figure it out, the Mac-Hi MD combo is great!

I prefer the larger screen and will be glad to sacrifice some battery life for the cause. These dangling remotes are the weak link in the HiMD chain-for my money

I just took another look at that unit, does it hold album cover art? It looks like an album in the close up of the read out

I think there will be bargains to be had if you wait it out as the Hi MD's disapppear from stores and mail orders inventories-but yes, the format is going down slow

I bought a DCC deck when they came out but as I couldnt get a portable unit, I stayed with MD qwhich was more diverse and had a great sound as well. I have to agree the DCC was a slightly better sounding format at start
