  1. Well, elsewhere I have mentioned that I recently bought a RH1. Now that I have been seduced by the ease of high speed dubbing from Mac to disc with this unit, I am pondering switching over to Hi Md and re- recording the few MDs I made in the older format. The isssue of course is that the Hi MDs wont play on other three MD players I own so I have been looking at the shelf units available (at least for now) which are nice but another financial dump for another format. Ths would all be void if one of two things were possible: 1. Hi Md played on standard MD players OR 2. Standard MD could be downloaded high speed from Mac SO does anyone here have any thoughts on either of these two possibilities? I'm happy with MD sound so I don't need Hi MD for that or for the extra storage. I only need (want) the quick download time to av oid real time transfers. All thoughts are apppreciated!!
  2. Sony's sense of honor for producing old formats is not the highest. I don't know how long they will make them, my guess is until folks don''t buy enough to warrant production.. For mail order, try the minidisco site that sponsors this forum, they have good prices and you are helping indirectly keep the forum solvent
  3. The unit has no wriststrap or, as far as i can tell, anywhere to attach one . The unit comes with a typical Sony "bag" with draw strings on top. I have never found these useful going all the way back to the cassette players I hae owned that came with them. Maybe you will. Can't answer the other questions..
  4. Forgive me, but here can i read about what this program does and does t work on Mac?
  5. I am looking for the very best quality, which setting would you advise? Thanks
  6. Having had and still owning I-Pods, anyone who uses MD will be very dissapointed. The sound quality is lame and even Ipods lose stuff from time to time (as do hard drives in general). I missed the sound quality of the MD and have returned to it, even though I am spoiled by the ease of IPod use (especailly with Mac). Now I gotta be concerned about software being phased out so I'm gonna scoop up all the Sony gold disc I can find

Anybody know which version of ATRAC this unit records with? I have and love this model and it records easily from CD but I cant find any info on which ATRAC it uses!
  8. Well, I got the RH1 yesterday. I had hoped the unit would record from CD in my MAC but that isnt the caase, but my old MDs sound great in this unit so I'm happy but not thrilled. I may have to hijack my kids PC and install the software to see what goes.
  9. By moving the unit to the pro audio section, it seems they are winding down for sure. Maybe just getting rid of stock-or perhaps there is a market for it still-in the eyes of Sony.
  10. Seems clear, if you want one, you better get one quick or risk having to chase one on Ebay
  11. Good luck. I have only found used ones on the web. I ahve a MZ-1 as well and it works great but sure wish I had a new battery-not that its much of a portable anyway
  12. I just came back after three years of poor quality IPod listening. I have the first unit Sony made and an Aiwa boombox Cd/MD player recorder and just ordered a RH1. I've been listening to my older discs for the last couple weeks and am amazed that the quality is better than the IPod hands down.
