Raify
Sonicstage has finally convinced me to give up and get an iPod...I've had enough, it hasn't worked properly in months, and before it stopped talking to CDDB, it was buggy, slow and pedantic about copyrights anyway. So congratulations Sony, I would have considered the new Mp3 enabled network walkman, but for the fact it too uses CronicStage 2.3.I'll be getting a 20g iPod, and saying good-bye to 2 Minidsic walkman's and a BMW MINI minidisc headunit via Ebay. Thanks a lot to everyone who gave advice on here, it was well appreciated but I just don't have the time to babysit crap software through tech advice hell...Hasta luego,Nathan
Christopher
Unfortunately, Sonicstage just doesn't work for everyone. Can't say the community tried to help you, and I hope that you're content on your new endeavor. Enjoy the iPod community.
Skradgee
Have fun recording concerts and things like that with your iPod. I think they have that great feature that lets you do a few seconds of voice recording.
Syrius
Come on, no teasing. If he's ditching MD because of SS, then it's because the cruddy software must be all FUBAR.
aeriyn
And another initiate joins the fold. Seriously. If you don't have any interest in recording, MD is not for you. Those who already have a substantial investment into the format (early adopters of the original MD and whatnot) do not apply to this statement. I don't think any person looking for a DAP should buy an MD unit unless they need recording capabilities.Of course, if Sony would either integrate with iTunes or get the company that made Notmad Explorer to make a third-party manager, Hi-MD might not be so bad.Edit: Btw, ditch your stock iPod buds. Get a Total Airhead from http://www.headphone.com or a Meier Audio Porta Corda MkII from http://www.meier-audio.de. Then, cruise around for a good pair of cans; even the KSC-75s work well amped. I recommend the Etymotic ER-4P/S (if you like your music detailed & bright) or the Shure E3c/E5c (if you like your music fun!) especially if you get an amp. Weaves
aeriyn said "Of course, if Sony would either integrate with iTunes"Now that's the funniest thing I ever heard. RealPlayer approached ITunes with the same idea. Jobs wanted nothing to do with them. With the exception of native MP3 playback, Apple is just as restrictive as Sony. Jobs wants all IPod users to only use ITunes.
Fast Eddie
Funny how it doesn't work for some. Worked fine straight out of the box for me.
Eryn Vorn
Funny how it doesn't work for some. Worked fine straight out of the box for me.←Yes, indeed, very funny. Out of the box, the SS 2.1 NEVER worked for me.But 22 millions happy SS users never complained, as Sony likes to remind us...

There's more than one way to get tracks onto an iPod.
Christopher
Which is a semi valid point..there is a strong open source community behind the iPod, but you'll pretty much find that with any hdd player community.
schugh
I have 2 computers. Both have XP and SP2. Sonic stage and Simple Burner work perfectly fine on the kids computer upstairs. On my computer where I want it to work, it always randomly after a minute maybe 2 reboots my computer without warning. And I just rebuilt my computer recently.Have given up on the software working on my machine (after pulling out my hair). But I still like MD. I have about 200 discs so I figuered a NH900 would be worth it. And I got it at a good price $330 CAD. And being a gadget junky, I just had to get it.But I will leave it now mostly for recording concerts (because SonicStage completly bites). I use my iRiver iHP140 and Rio Karma for portable playback.Being a software developer myself, I know it's not always easy to write good software. But there is no excuse for how bad SS is in my opinion.-- Sanjay
