dex Otaku
I don't mind the idea of a352, though it's ATRAC3plus, not ATRAC or ATRAC3 .. my one additional thought on this is that it's similar to A/52, another name for AC3, aka dolby digital. In any case, I think in bitrates, so I will remember it myself simply as 352kbps.
Sparky191
I reckon its should be abbreviation then bit rate..~~~~~~~~~~~PCM (1.4mbps)HiSP(352)+HiSP(256)+HiLP(64)+~~~~~~~~~~~SP(292)LP2(132)LP4(66)~~~~~~~~~~~Hence the "+"Whats the link between A/52/AC3 and ATRAC? dex Otaku
the link is that I like the sound of a352, even though it reminds me of A/52, which is either [i don't recall clearly at the moment] a synonym for AC3 or the name of a protocol used to carry AC3 over SP/DIF, either way, having something to do with AC3. There is otherwise no connection between AC3 and any form of atrac that I'm aware of.
gmdisc
Is the 352 kbps codec an atrac or an atrac3+ codec? The reason I ask is that in my US version of connect the 352 does not show up under atrac3+ when choosing the bit rate in options. It is under atrac.Does not make sense to me. KJ_Palmer
352k is an ATRAC3plus codec. It should come under the OpenMG Audio (ATRAC3plus) option in the convert file format menu. At least it does in my version of SS3.3.

atrain
i've decided not to use it. i'm currently re-ripping my library in sonicstage & have gone mostly with 192 for the hip hop & 256 for the soul/folk/classic rock & classical. for portable rather than home use it seems a little ott. alexis
I'd like to call it Hi-Q (for q like "quality") to keep the name consistent with the Hi-LP/Hi-SP naming used for Hi-MD hardware.
