Question

Hi, My nwa3000 has just started the dreaded creaking and a gap appearing around the side, (amazon sending a replacement, no questions asked and over 30 days old), but i was wondering whether buying a silicon case or the new hard plastic cover (when released) would actually close up the gap and keep it closed? Has anyone got a silicon case? and if so does it completly surround the unit tight enough to hold it together and stop the creaking?

I don't have the gap that you talk about, but on my NW-A1000, if a gently press the area between the > button and the option button (roughly about central on the front of the player), it makes a creaking sound... doesn't do it anywhere else - as a man who appreciates build quality, this is really annoying! =)

Is this what you are talking about? Anyone else got this?

mine did. i got it back from sonystyle today, the repair build says "mechanical adjustments" which i suppose means they probably took it apart and put it back together again. the seams are definitely tighter haven't tried pressing for creaks and i don't think i will because if i find a creak (pretty sure i will) i will probably want to break the thing.

just happy to have it back.

I don't get these guys... after developing the most impressive hardware casing i've ever seen on the nw-hd5 (full aluminium, single piece, very resistant) they get back to plastic in the new models... Then they have cracks opening and stuff like that..

haha, my hd5 got a dent in the back  lol It doesnt bother me in the slightest as it isnt the exactly the most beautiful player out there, and i always have it in the felt case while using the remote, and it doesnt effect operation.

only the front is plastic, and the rest is metal.
