sub27
It can play up to 132kbps but not 256. I checked on sony's website. It records at 256 but it cannot play it. This means if I buy one I will have to record at the highest 'atrac' rate. Does this mean I cannot use 1G minidiscs?
Richard
I think you must have either mis-read or are referring to another model. The RH1 will record on the unit in 64/132/256/292/PCM amongst others and play back all of the above and some additonal rates such as 352/192 Atrac3+ available only through Sonic Stage. Why would a unit be able to record in 256K and not play it back?
bobt
He must have one of the recorders that are "no good for playback" as a couple of our esteemed members are so certain of.LOLBob

pata2001
Just another typo. Seems like the page creator mistook Atrac3 for Atrac3+. The bitrates mentioned for Atrac3+ are Atrac3 bitrates only. Sony USA has had countless errors in regards to specs and product info on their website too. If the RH1 cannot playback HiSP, we should have had plenty of complaints in this forum. Edited July 18, 2006 by pata2001
bobt
As Well, if it can record something, it can play it back.I Think !!Bob
NIGHTS
Just another typo. I second that.. What was that about a 3 line remote Sony? Edited July 19, 2006 by r.porter
ATELETRONICS
it sounds to me like you have a net md formatted disk. are you sure the disk is formatted for hi-md? is the disk a standard 80 or 74 min md?
bobt
As the unit recognizes all the formats, it shoudn't matter how the disc is formatted. When you go for a new recording you have the option to go which way your heart desires.Bob

1kyle
If you reread his post. Hes not got a RH1. Hes just reading the specs off that page. LOL as one of "those" members, even I thought that was funny! Probably the same category of people who said cars wouldn't start or planes would drop out of the sky on 1 Jan 2000 (remember the Y2K nonsense --probably the biggest waste of money and most futile effort spent in the whole history of computing).A RH1 will PLAY BACK all legacy formats (you don't have to specify whether disk is HI-md / md) and will record in all published recording formats. It will (as others have also pointed out) play back some other bit rates such as 352 --although you have to transfer via SS.(Hint to Sony here --how about an update to Simple Burner to transfer CD===>MD @ 352).Cheers-K
