timonoj
Hi, i've just received my brand new RH1. but since I'm at work (i received the package here), i decided to charge it while my shift ends. But it stopped the charge after 30min! Did the battery come already charged? If I unplug it from the usb then plug it back it shows "charging" for a minute or so, then it stops again. Is there any problem, guys?
raintheory
There may have been a partial charge from the factory. The manual states that when "Charging" disappears from the display, the unit is 80% charged. Leaving it plugged in for 2 more hours after the display disappears should result in a 100% charge. Are you charging via AC adapter or plugging into a PC? The Low Volta
LiIon batteries always come partly charged as they lose their charge automatically over time storing them uncharged could result in a dead battery from deep discharge... best is to store them at 40% (according to www.batteryuniversity.com)and keep in mind raintheory's remarks on 80% and full charging times as well (which you could have also learned from that strange little booklet in your package called user manual or something alike )

It's just an AC-to-USB adapter...Is it okay?
cgbragg
My new RH1 had the same partially charged battery in it. 30 minutes to full charge.
milomind
Mine as well. Also, the batteries I purchased later had the same charge.

Sparda
You know how people say, or at least people around me, that the first time it's charged you charge it for a whole night? Is that like a myth or does it only apply to like Ni-Mh and Ni-Cd batteries? Sorry back on topic, my LIP-4WM came pre-charged about halve way as expected. The Low Volta
you should put LiIon through one full discharge/charge-cycle the first charge (and according to some once every half year or so) just to (re)set the battery indicator ... but the battery itself requires no such thing (unlike NiMH and NiCd)for more info have a read at www.batteryuniversity.com as it explains lots of stuff about batteries in a very easy to grasp language (and it has a special 'how to take care for your batteries' section that gives a lot of good tips)
Sparda
What is this indicator that you mention for Li-Ion batteries? Is it like built into the battery?I was told by this sales person and also someone who happens to be my friend that I have to charge Li-Ions for a whole night and I thought, doesn't that not apply to Li-Ion? And I just dismissed it as a myth for Li-Ion batteries. So far the battery life of my lip-4wm is normal, although I have to say the normal runtime is too short... The Low Volta
the indicator is nothing more than the battery-indicator on your RH1 screen...it is a bit of circuitry in the MD that visualizes the charge left (and in the RH1 also the time left to charge etc.) and it needs to correspond as close to the real battery charge as possible to be of any use (see the awkward NH900 battery indicator that blinks for empty and still allows a couple of hours playback) so letting a LiIon charge for a long time makes sure you've reached 100% and allows the battery indicator to set this level correctly (the first 80% take only a short time, but the last 20% can take up to 2-3 hours more)
Sparda
Oh, that indicator, I was thinking too deep
