AndreBlanks
You can get much more flexibility with an editing program than you can with a bass filter. And you can't restore the bass if you've filtered it out before it's recorded.I bookmarked a thread that mentioned a couple free ones, but what do you guys usually use? The Low Volta
audacity... even though I don't know quite enough about it, I manage to use it to edit my recordings without 'destroying' anything (I like to keep everything that was recorded, so no eq'ing nor cutting applause unless it really is needed to fit a cocncert onto one cd)

KJ_Palmer
Audacity is also my preferred choice for editing Wav and MP3 files...
Avrin
Adobe Audition. Its "Open Append" feature really rules.
Sony_Fan
ATRACgain software would be ideal. Unfortunately, it does not exist and it should.

KrazyIvan
I am most familiar with Audacity. I downloaded WavePad to try it and it is very close to Audacity but with a prettier UI. One thing I miss in WavePad is the time marks. That has forced me back to Audacity. I really need my timing marks!
Strungup
Audacity , ...It just ....is could be more stable , plus it will use the Core Audio effects built into the OSXFade in , and Fade out , are perfect as is, The only thing Audacity needs is Real time preview of effects . lloverin
Adobe Audition here. Upgraded from Cool Edit Pro. Still the most flexible I've found, tons of VST and other effects. We use Audacity at my church to record music and messages from the sound system, not too fancy but works well.-Larry
