belletristik
Here's how I handle podcasts:Ususally whatever podcatching software you use (iTunes, Juice, etc.) will always download all podcasts into the same directory (sometimes organised into sub-folders). In SonicStage, under the file menu, go to import, then scan folder, and then choose the top-level directory into which your podcatcher downloads podcasts.I leave my podcatcher running in the background all the time so that it periodically downloads new podcast episodes when they come out. Then, when I feel like putting a bunch of them onto MD, I simply open up SonicStage, go to import, scan folder (it remembers the folder I last scanned, i.e. the folder where iTunes or other software saves podcasts), and it will automatically import all new podcast episodes into SonicStage. From there, you simply transfer them to MD and Bob's your uncle. The only hitch, of course, is that Hi-MD devices prior to the RH1 don't handle all mp3 sampling rates, so it is sometimes necessary to convert the files to ATRAC.I hope this helps. If you have a more specific question about something in particular that's not working for you, I might be able to address that directly... milomind
You are unfortunately going to have some level of difficulty in getting podcasts onto your NH1, mainly due to the conversion process. The main thing is SS's inability to deal well with MP3s that have poor and inconsistent ID3 tags that it has to convert. Podcasts have notoriously bad ID3 tags, and my own is no exception. Sorry. If you can get SS to convert the podcasts into a folder just for podcasts, you may find this to be acceptable for your needs. In the SS preferences point the converted files to a folder that you create called podcasts, then convert them all to Atrac. You will have to switch back to the default folder in SS when you want to convert music, but hey. This is an over simplified and vague explanation for how to do this, but it's the basics and you are going to have to suffer a little for the privilege of using superior sounding equipment. Listen to a few of our shows if you want. Recorded exclusively on HiMD equipment since 2005.Destructomundo!
Richard
Like others have mentioned, to get podcasts on my NH1 I usually manually download the MP3 files, import into Sonic Stage, re-do the tags, do a manual convert to 132k and transfer.Or if I use my RSS reader / podcatcher I have it download the podcasts into a single folder then use the scan folder option in SS to import - but again I usually end up re-doing the tags and converting to Atrac.* Moved to Software Discussion
poe
I use Itunes for my podcasts and import them into Sonic Stage all the time. I'll tell you now I have never had problems with Sonic Stage having troubles with Itunes mp3 tags for podcasts. Now for your first problem if I understand correct your having troubles downloading Itunes. Go to Apples web site hunt around in the Ipod tab I believe there is a download choice off to the left. Just remember to check which OS your going to use it on. Download doubleclick on the cion it puts on your desktop and go through the setup, use all the default things it asks for(otherwise say yes to everything). The only immediate problem you could be running into is I believe Itunes will only run on Windows XP or Vista, so if you have a older Windows OS that could be your problem. As always if I'm wrong about Itunes and older Windows OSs, guys feel free to chime in. Later, POE.
