Strungup
Ok , Oddball topic I know , but I think it would be great for newbies , and for the guy doing the wiki about MD to glean from . Examples : What remotes work with what units , and limitations of partial functions . Ex 1 : MZ-B10 , Business /Education model . It doesn't come with a remote, must be special ordered http://www.minidisco.com/Sony-RM-MZB10 the link to the remote . But I experiment with a bunch of other remotesRM-MZ3S ,Play Mode(Repeat, 1 ) Display name title etc. Pause , Play, FFW, RRW, Battery level all work (The B10 has rotary volume control ) BACKLIT DISPLAY!!!! . ( During Recording , "REC " Shows on the remote , Track # , time , Press Play Mode , puts Track Mark ) RM-MC12ELK : Play Mode puts Track mark during recording , Backlit display , All functions work (Volume not included) You can Pause recording without adding Track Mark !!!! ( Concert possibilities there) RM-MZ33 same as above but no display on the remote at all .RM-MC10L ( I think this was for a cd player) Controls: Play , FFW,RRW, Pause ,Sound((vocal emphasis)Sound 1,Sound 2,off) RPT , Playmode (1 track , or normal) Display Battery level , Track Title time , no backlight . ( During Recording "REC" is displayed on remote , Track number and time, and also Play Mode button puts Track mark)Sorry Ishii had to borrow itRM-MC40ELK ( Yes the Holy Grail of remotes) Controls : Play ,Pause,FFW,RRW,Stop,Play Mode , Press Jog Dial moves 10 tracks ahead( Group) BACKLIT DISPLAY !!!, Sound Set ( 1, 2, off) Battery Level , Track Title and Time displayed on Remote. (Press play mode while recording , track mark function !!!!!!) Also "REC" Displays on the remote with Track and Time ( no Time remaining ,only current time of track. )RM-MZR55 Dont use this one with the B10 Edited January 24, 2008 by Guitarfxr
pitdroidtech
NZ505 remote partially works on the MZ-NH600 - stop, track forward and reverse, ff and rew, hold and volume all work. play doesn't do anything. Tmark and caps just moves through groups, delete and edit do nothing.(This remote has no display.)

kino170878
I'm guessing that none of these remotes offer insertion of track marks during playback? Only during recording... Edited January 23, 2008 by kino170878
Strungup
I'm guessing that none of these remotes offer insertion of track marks during playback? Only during recording...Right , I havent yet tried the remote for the MZ-R50 which has a Track Mark button , ill post that later , but the B10 has a Track mark button on the face of the unit itself , The B10 does not do Titleing , that would have to be done on another unit . pitdroidtech
record to minidisc from turntable output, and filter out hiss with mild hiss filter using goldwave or similiar.Keep it all as wav, sounds great. Convert to 256Kbps atrac3plus if you want to conserve space but retain good quality.

Strungup
MySpace to MD , via the line out of your computer , anyone else here do that ? A lot of private artist who are not yet released or signed , and their music would not be unavailable in any other way . I usually email them , and ask for permission , and most of the time they dont mind , especially if it is for my own use . pitdroidtech
MySpace to MD , via the line out of your computer , anyone else here do that ? A lot of private artist who are not et released o signed , and their music would be unavailable in any other way . I usually email them , and ask for permission , and most of the time they dont mind , especially if it is for my own use .no, but good idea. I'm thinking of recording some audio files to minidisc from the computer via line out - I downloaded some "free" DRM protected tracks via a Sundail-Mail promotion, but the tracks are completely forward-locked; you can't even rip them to CD or record the audio stream to wav - they are completely locked down. They will only play via Windows Media Player (atleast itunes et al, you can burn a cd). The way I figure it, if it's for my own use, then "fair use" rights still apply, regardless of whether I paid for it or not. I paid for the internet time to download them, for the paper I bought for the download details, and all the associated time I invested in sourcing the tracks. So therefore I think I have the right under the "fair use" provision of copyright law to copy the tracks to minidisc

Strungup
if you listen carefully , you will hear them change keys 5 times , He calls out the key center , and the Guy on the Whistle just rolls with it .except for "B" which his flute is in D so the halfholing . crossfingering nightmare would be outta control , but he is still able to play FIVE KEYS , on a ONE KEY instrument ................ I play 3 keys on my Irish Flute , he rolls thru 5 like he is Seamus ......... dag man ! Edited February 19, 2008 by Guitarfxr
Strungup
Older Md's that dont upload , but you want a CD ........Record from the line out of the MD , to the Computer Line input , with a Program like Audacity or Final Vinyl , then separate the parts you want to be tracks , and burn them to CD ! raintheory
MD saved my day last Sunday:I wanted to take my new ukulele out and about, I knew it would get out of tune so I recorded the four notes on 4 tracks of an MD to keep with me to tune with.Worked great! Strungup
That is a Great IdeaTunings , stored on MD for All your Instruments , I LIKE THAT one !Ok here is another oneWhen I was a Teenager , I worked as a Clown for Nursing Homes , and Preschools , ....... It involved also telling stories , so the MD could be used for Backing Tracks , and Cues , for the Stories , and Musical scenarios for the entertainment. I wish I would have had an MD then , I did use Tape for it . But MD would have been WAY cooler . Edited March 6, 2008 by Guitarfxr
Snostrebla
Odd thing I used one of my recorders for. I didn't own a stereo with optical inputs, or anything I could use to pump the sound from my first generation Playstation 2 to my stereo. I did have my recorder with an optical in, and a car FM transmitter for portable devices, and etc. Hooked the optical in the Playstation to my MD, and broadcasted the sound via the FM transmitter to my stereo. An interesting, and somewhat reasonable way to make my dull sounding TV loads better. I'm sure there are other things people can do with their Playstation 2's and MD's. I even remember recording an album from the Playstation to the MD, even going as far as playing games/watching films just through headphones with the television on mute. pitdroidtech
*record audio from music DVD's via the DVD Player optical output (a lot simpler than ripping audio from the DVD via PC)*record audio from set top box optical output (if it has it) (great when there's a good concert on TV)
