sfbp
Yep, NF810, or NF610, or their equivalents without the radio - N710 and N510.When you say NetMD, I assume you mean you want USB? There are lots from the pre-USB era such as R90/91 that have the Mega Bass along with the other features you requested.Hope this helpsStephen

sfbp
There are way too many to list unless I understand your constraints. If you search Ebay you will find dozens of the ones I listed (not always obvious unless you look at the details of each listing).1. do you need USB?2. do you need radio?3. do you need MDLP?My suggestion: look in the equipment browser, they are arranged in time order. First Sony added MDLP. At a certain point in time, Sony put USB in everything. At some time after that, they introduced Type-S for LP2 (probably LP4 as well but I don't care). I think it was in that order but even if i got it wrong, you get the idea.E-anything is a player only.I'd be happy to advise you offline, send me a PM.Cheers
culp4684
All Sony Net MD recording units are MDLP and will have a USB port...It may come down to your "bass enhancement" issue. All can do this in one form or another with the custom EQ settings. But I don't believe any Sony has the Sharp feature of Bass 1, 2 or 3. Maybe the real old ones (pre-2000) did, I'm not sure. The IM-DR80 has a bass enhancement button right on the remote and fits your other criteria, although it's optical/line in is on the docking cradle and of course, it's not a Sony. There is quite a few on the Equipment Browser, but you'll probably have to settle for just a few choices and they will most likely be used. The only new NetMD unit that I know of that is still being sold in Japan is the MZ-N920. Because you'll probably have to pay around $300 or more shipped, you're probably better off buying an RH-1 or MZM-200 which aren't much more. They also fill your criteria...Good luck... AFter I switched to Hi-MD, I gave that unit to my father. Now I'm looking for an old school MD recorder/player that has USB support but also optical in and super bass, megabass, etc. I know Sony has MD players with these features. I'm really hoping I can find one for cheap.
KJ_Palmer
How about the MZ-N505 then? That has digital mega bass, and surely would be cheap if you could get it on eBay...
sfbp
How about this onehttp://cgi.ebay.ca/Sony-Net-MD-Walkman-MZ-...1QQcmdZViewItemor thishttp://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=260276537274
Sony_Fan
How about this onehttp://cgi.ebay.ca/Sony-Net-MD-Walkman-MZ-...1QQcmdZViewItemgood find! but it has a european power adaptor. I would need one that would work for in the U.S. My weak dollar will probably no match for those bidding in british pounds.
sfbp
You can probably get a 3V adaptor in any drugstore - I bought 2 at 14$ apiece. Ask the sender to discard the adapter as it will cut down on postage costs.(the adaptors were this one... I took the precaution of supergluing it to 3V after purchase!)http://www.londondrugs.com/Cultures/en-US/...mp;ProductTab=3The other thing you can do is go to the individual ebay sites around the world; you will find lots more stock, but you will also have to convince the seller to ship to N. America.
Sony_Fan
Okay guys, I think I'm just going to go old school with a Sharp MD unit with extra bass. There's something about their 24-bit encoder and SP stereo sound quality that is unmatched, even by Hi-MD units.
Sony_Fan
That is a matter of taste... Some just prefer Sony's sound signature on HD amped Hi-MD units, without mentioning PCM 1.4Mbps over ATRAC 292kbps...It is a matter of taset. The problem with me was that I was so use to the stronger bass, crisp, CD like sound of my old Sharp MD that when I started using Hi-MD with lower MP3 bitrates, it just didn't sound as "alive." Unfortunately, if I want that crisp Cd like sound I'll probably have to use MP3 @ 320. I use MP3 instead of ATRAC3plus because I can use MP3gain to modify the volumes of different mp3s. sfbp
I think LP2 + Type-S does it for you, on the pre-HiMD units. I fix most of my sound recordings up while they are wave files, including normalizing (ie increasing gain) before I ever show them to SS. CD's direct to LP2 sound amazing. And it's all in the playback Codec, IMO.
Sony_Fan
I'm bidding on a Sharp MD player/recorder on ebay. It has the optical in and bass boost. that's pretty much what I wanted. Please, no one bid on it. We can all get great deals if we respect each other's bid and not bid on the same products.
Sony_Fan
Okay, so there's a new high bidder on the MD unit I want and I'm pretty sure it's someone from this forum. The bidder is a newly registered user with 0 feedback. I'm guessing he saw my interest in the unit and decided to outbid me. I should have kept my mouth (or keyboard) shut. kino170878
Maybe you could try sending the other bidder a polite message saying that if he doesn't withdraw his bid he will end up floating in the harbour. I'm sure he will understand and give you extra money to spare his life lol.

sfbp
Interesting question. I spotted these a while back, and there are obviously crates of them at this one company. They don't show anywhere on the minidisc.org equipment browser (please correct me if I'm wrong) but they look like reasonably featured units. They seem to change hands under $30 so why not give it a whirl?

sfbp
I am only guessing but I would think not, as the D usually refers to "Downloader"Looking on the specs this is confirmed as NOT being one of the features. If you want to get SP via optical in suggest you get something like an MZ-R91 or R90.

I also noticed that the black models sell for higher price than the silver ones. Why would that be? sfbp
You can play back SP on any MD ever made. Probably silver gets marked easier. I was really annoyed to find my silver NF810 got a scuff on the O of Sony, just from being in my shirt pocket.
Sony_Fan
I bought a silver one for under $15. Hopefully it has bass.
KJ_Palmer
Possibly also because the black finish is nicer turned out than the silver, which can be more 'common' and plasticky looking (IMO). I'd take a black unit over a silver finish any day.

aafuss
I found a MZ-N510-some paint was worn on the buttons, but it was in OK condition.Paid $40 for the MZ-N510-another second-hand store wanted $70 for a similar model. Only has 2 presets for sound with adjustable bass and treble settable from -3 to +3.
