Connecting to USB: official cable only?

I've lost the PC-MD cable that came with my mz-n505; can I just buy a USB A-B type cable to replace it (or a USB to camera cable, or something)? Sony's knowledgebase site advises me not to use any non-supplied cable with my MD, but they don't seem to sell replacements. I suspect they just want me to have to buy a whole new MD player, but I don't want to destroy my current one by using the wrong cable. Help if you can!

cheers

The cable that came with my MZ-N510 has an 'A-connector' on one side (which goes into the PC). However, the connector on the other side of the cable is definitely not a 'B-connector'. So better check if your MZ-N505 really accepts a B-connector before buying an A-B type USB cable.

it's a small type of connector...kinda reminds me of the 4 -> 6 pin firewire cables...one end goes into the PC and the other into the peripheral...take a look at most of the USB connectors that ship with quite a lot of digital cameras...they have the same cable as the ones used on NetMD capable units...i think online retailers and some shops stock up on these but you have to check...and don't worry about the brand of the cable...i own a Sony digital camera and it shipped with a rebranded TDK USB cable...so not all Sony products use Sony accessories...=)
