  1. i have The Gimp, but the fact is that I don't know how to set it for a CD artwork..
  2. Nice program! Gotta try the demo! Do you know any program that makes artwork for CDs? Or, how are the settings for a program like The Gimp?
  3. Oh, I understand now. I misread your post. Well, it's a nice feature that iTunes gives.. but I prefer to hold physically the artwork, booklet, etc.. in my hands Another thing that made MD unpopular is that it's easier to put songs on a mp3 player than on a MD.. with mp3 it's only copy&paste, with NetMD or Hi-MD you have to open SonicStage or Simple Burner, then convert the files and finally transfer them.. which tooks a lot of time. By the way this amorning i was listening to some music @ 64 kbps on my NH900.. wow, it sounds great!
  4. Where a so cheap NH700?! I remember that the cheapest one I found was about 75
  5. I know that a Hi-MD will sound good.. I have myself a NH900 and it's awesome. I use it to record (in Hi-SP mode) a radio programme and I really enjoy playing it back on the MD. But the point is another. Even the cheapest Hi-MD unit (NH600) is not that cheap, they can go for more than 50
  6. Hi guys, what's the best NetMD or MDLP unit (only the portable ones) for playing music? I suppose that any Atrac Type-S unit will do the trick.. Thanks!
  7. So what's the LP mode? I guess it's the same song as in mp3 quality but 'processed' in some audio editor like Cubase or SoundForge and pllied with some plugins to imitate the beautiful 'noise' of the old, fashioned vinyl? If yes, it's ridiculos to me.
  8. It's like being in a new town.. I agree. But links are messed up, try the ones in Abby Normal signature! Will they be fixed?
  9. Atrac3+ 256kbps in pure stereo is awesome for recording. I might start to use it for live recording instead of PCM.. and Atrac3+ @ 64 kbps is good too. I have a lot of albums by Springsteen on an 80 min MD and they sound really good. I use a custom EQ on my NH900 and I'm fully satisfied.
  10. I want to hack the unit basically for the Digital Pitch Control -- I use it on my NH900 to transcribe music. I also want to have a Digital Out for connecting it to my stereo. I have the RM-MC38EL remote and I'll try it when I have the N505.. even if DPC will be missing. Thank you for your your advices guys! C'mon, still lookin' for one of the remotes listed in the first post. And thank you for editing the title. I thought that adding 'ISO' would be uncomprensible.. sorry. Didn't know we use it here as well.
  11. I read on this forum that with SP mode the stereo is TRUE, unlikely the Hi-MD format.. I'd go for an SP deck. But this means that transferring CDs to MDs is painfull 'cause you have to record via Line In (I didn't know that an SP file on a MD transferred from a PC will sound like an LP2!).. on the other hand, with one Hi-MD you have more 'flexibility' and you can even playback files in perfect lossless quality. Why don't you use your RH1 connected to your Hi-Fi system and you playback two MDs with the same song, one formatted in SP mode and the other in Hi-MD format (352 kbps)? You'll notice what is better from you, sound quality talking.
  12. Hi guys, I've bought a Sony MZ N505. I will hack it to add extra features, and I need one of these remotes: RM-MC11EL RM-MC10L RM-MC12ELK I don't mind about conditions, it only have to work; I want the remote only for hacking the unit. Fair prices please.. I will buy only from European countries as I live in Italy and we have a very slow postal service. I will check eBay every day.. but if someone has something to offer, feel free to do. I pay only via PayPal (tough it can take some days to charge it at the local postal office). Thank you!
  13. I have bought my first Hi-MD a month and a few weeks ago; now I've just bought my second one, a Sony MZ N505 for 10£. I have 29 blanks, 3 Hi-MD sealed and 6 'normal' sealed. The rest has music on. I'll buy blanks and devices everytime I see a nice price.. I have no frenzy
  14. Ouch, sounds like a big news! If this can add more users to the MD discussions, it is OK for me; I'm sure we'll find a lot of interesting people on SonyInsider. On the other side I'm a little bit disappointed with it; Sony is not the only mark that made MDs.. and I hope that SI is not a place where everything against Sony is censored or something. I just want to debate wheter Sony is good or not, as well as other brands' discussions. I'm not the best user here and I write very few posts here due to some language limitations (I'm Italian, I can understand most of what I read, but I'm not very good in speaking and writing, so making a decent phrase is hard for me), but I can assure you that I read almost every new thread and I've read a lot. I'd love an international one (in English, please!) and I'll join both boards. Why don't we start to take into account some places where to start a forum? Are we seriously (I am) talking about a new one? p.s.: it's not the first ''transition'' I experience (I've seen it twice on other forums) and I'm afraid of some database troubles.. so is there a software that allows me to download just some threads, and not the whole forum? Or do I have to do it on my own (which will take very long, the thread about how to make mikes and battery box is 30+ pages!)? Thank you. p.p.s.: everything written above is In My Humble Opinion -- please don't feel offende if you find something that hurts you
  15. I used a Sony DS70P straight thru the Sony NH900 to record me playing the harmonica but I captured the noise of the MD spinnin', so I bought an extension cord. Yes, it really makes the difference!
  16. I have some DVD-Audio and I just wanna listen to them.. and no, I don't have any device that works at that high rates; the only two things in my house with a digital out are the DVB and my lovely Sony MZ NH900 A very nice soundcard I've seen is the Audiophile 24/96 that supports those high rates; it's also an interesting thing as I can record the guitar (I play it) straight to the PC and it gets pretty nice. The bad side is this is like 100 €.
  17. It says ''8/16bit recording & playback at up to 48kHz (mono/stereo)'', so I assume it doesn't support 24 bit playback The Onkyo soundcard is AWESOME, but seems pricy.. I'm on fire with Onkyo stuff, I'm thinkin' of buying an amplifier and a good radio receiver.. yum!
  18. Any hint for a soundcard that support 24 bit and 96 kHz recordings? Thanks
  19. Just arrived: 10 random MDs 5 sealed TDK 80 min. MDs They look soooo good that I want more
  20. Amazon is a quick and safe resource in my opinion; try there!
  21. Hi guys, I've found some service manuals at this site: http://www.coutant.org/contents.html Hope it help you!
  22. In Italy the service generally sucks (long shipping times), but sometimes you're lucky and everything goes well. Personally the only issue I've experienced is the long waiting periods, but I've alwasy received what I've bought. Delivery times varies: for example I waited 3 days for a CD from Sicily and 7 days for a CD from Venice! I usually buy a lot from UK. They are generally on time (I bought 3 Hi-MDs and they sent me them in 4 days!), but one time they missent an LP to Bahamas (God knows how they did!) so it took it 2 months to get in my hands.
  23. Very nice remote, I'm condisering buying two (one black, the other white).. I'll wait 'till the seller sells more stuff, perhaps I will find something interesting!
  24. I mean the first you said; thank you for the hint, I'll check it right now!
