I got my MZ-N707 yesterday. It is pretty nice, the previous owner took pretty good care of it. It seems very similar to my (2) MZ-R700's, except that the buttons are different. It came with 24 MD's, headphones, remote, charging stand, AC power cord and of course the unit itself. All for $210 (including shipping form NY to PA). Not too bad, I don't think.

I just bought an MZ-N707 off of Craigslist. I'm still waiting for it to come in the mail. I will let you know what I think of mine as well. I love the look of this machine and I hope it is as good as I'm hoping for it to be. Everything that I've read about it seems to be good.

I have recorded some songs off of youtube and some other websites onto my MD. It was quite easy, all I did was what you suggested, use the headphone out to my line-in on my MD recorder. It's been a while but I believe I just used the overall volume on my computer to regulate a good listening level so it didn't sound all distorted. I hope this helps.

SONY MZ-RH1 Featured In New GHOST WRITER Movie!
PsychoPimpKiller replied to Modernaire's topic in Minidisc
Let's sure as hell hope so. It would be nice to have some new life breathed into this amazing device. -
This may seem like a dumb question but do you remember what input you plugged your microphone into? If you plugged it into the "line in" jack, you won't get any recording. If you plugged it into the "mic in" jack, then you should have a recording. If you did use the "mic in" jack and there is no recording then that sounds like a technical question that I probably won't be able to answer.

I don't remember seeing many advertisements for minidisc at all either. Maybe one here or there in a magazine. Maybe a commercial on MTV, like Syrius said, but no real advertisements. I wanted to get into minidisc around the mid-90's, but it was a little too pricey at the time. I didn't get my first player/recorder until 2003. I remember going to my local mall (Monroeville Mall, where the original "Dawn of the Dead" was filmed) and seeing pre-recorded MD's for sale and thinking I would like to buy some but had no means to play them. Which, in some way, leads me to this question. Why would a company create a completely different product, not advertise it, make it really expensive and then let it die or kill it off? I don't know but it's a real shame that they did. No new minidisc products since 2006 tells me that it is dead, at least in their eyes but not mine.

I downloaded it but haven't had a chance to install it yet. Maybe this weekend I will and post my opinion. It seems like it will play almost anything, which in some ways sounds a little too good to be true, but we will see.

I might be interested. What all comes with the unit, other than the unit and a Hi-MD disc?

I bought my MZ-M200 off of Levanel around the turn of the year. It sounds great. I've recorded a few local bands shows with it and it sounds pretty good. I'm glad that I finally got one. I've wanted one for a over a year when I first read about it on www.minidisc.org. Maybe I will get a silver one next if I can afford it.

All of those auctions except for the last got up to @ $90. That's a little crazy. I've paid some high prices for MD's, and other stuff too, but not that high. Must be nice to have alot of extra money lying around.

It's amazing that these are still for sale and from Sony
PsychoPimpKiller replied to PsychoPimpKiller's topic in Minidisc
Don't get me wrong, I still have some cassettes as well but I haven't bought a cassette since the early 90's. I started buying CD's back then and I still buy CD's today. For me, CD's replaced cassettes. And in the late the 90's when I bought a Philips home audio CD recorder, that is what I used to record on, but I only made mix CD's from my collection. If I saw a collectible cassette I would buy but I don't have any use for recordable cassettes. My recording medium is now minidisc and probably will be for a while seeing is I am still buying money them. -
I found some on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago. I got 6 of them (1 sealed and 5 opened/used) for $20 altogether with shipping. They were in San Francisco and I live in Pittsburgh, Pa.That works out to be about $3.33 a piece and they usually go for $5-$10 plus shipping anywhere that I've looked.

I've been trying to find a list of store bought pre-recorded minidiscs. Does anybody know where such a list exists, if at all? I've seen alot of these for sale on ebay and there seems to be alot of them and from many different genres. I've thought about coming up with a list but that would probably take too long. If you can think of any that you have or have seen, go ahead and post them on here.

I'm looking for anyone that has any music from a band called Makeshift. They are a rock band from Alaska. I've heard some of their stuff on the internet and they sound pretty good but I cannot find a CD of theirs anywhere. So, I was wondering if anyone on here would happen to have any of their stuff, be it a live show, album or whatever. I have alot of music, mostly rock, that I can trade. Of course you could put the music on minidisc cause this is after all a minidisc trades forum. Thank you.

Mine just says "Icon" before or after everything and "Attachments" before some of them. Did anyone else have problems trying to even get on the site last week? I couldn't get on here for about a day or so.

I just picked up 6 blank Hi-MD discs on Craigslist for $20 ($15 for the discs and $5 for shipping cause I live in PA and they were in San Francisco). And one of them is still sealed. That's $3.33 a piece, they go for $5-$10 each on ebay or anywhere else you look (or more with shipping costs). Honestly, I don't care if I get second hand stuff, it all works the same. If these are good for a million recordings, it's well worth it cause I bet that the person I'm buying it from has recorded on it, maybe, a handful of times. Out of all the MD's Ive bought second hand (maybe 175 of them from various people), I've only gotten one that I cant use because the case is broken. And I could probably even glue it back together and use it. Just my 2 cents worth anyway.

Bought an MZ-M200 off of Levanel. It was a nice quick and easy transaction. I am very happy with my purchase from him.

That was the first Hi-MD unit that I bought as well. I love it. It looks awesome, it sounds awesome and it records very well. I've recorded a few local bands around my area with my RH910. I then bought another Hi-MD unit unintentionally on Ebay (I was messing with someone who outbid me and I ended up being the top bidder when the auction ended), but I like that unit as well. It is a MZ-NH900. I've recorded some good stuff with too. I mainly use my Hi-MD units to record and upload and MDLP units to listen and make mixes. I only have 10 Hi-MD blanks and so far that has been plenty. I may end up getting 5 more before the end of the year but I'm in no hurry right now.

I know it's been a while since your post about this darrencouch but I found a link to another forum that has a minidisc art thread. Here is the link. http://www.audiotstation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33127

I saw these at my local walmart when I out shopping tonight. Brand new cassette tapes and they're Sony brand. They pretty much killed off MD but they keeping cassettes alive. That's pretty crappy. I don't remember what the price was but they couldn't have been too much. I haven't seen any blank MD's in the stores for a couple of years now. I wonder where they all got sent to when they discontinued them? -
Pre-recorded MDs - Used or New Sealed - OVER THE TOP PRICING.
PsychoPimpKiller replied to Modernaire's topic in Minidisc
I only bought a couple of albums on MD just for the heck of it. Some of the stuff I have on MD, I already have on CD. I just thought it would be cool to also have them on MD. I listen to them too, they sound pretty damn good to my ears. I just like MD, what can I say. -

PsychoPimpKiller replied to Modernaire's topic in Minidisc
I know what you mean. I've been slowly but surely building up a collection of pre-recorded MD's and the prices that some people have been asking are ridiculous. I bought Michael Jackson's Thriller late last year for around $20 give or take. I loved it when I was a kid and it's probably one of his best (if not his best) album. The most I paid for an MD album was around $25 and I don't even remember which one it was cause I have about 15 pre-recorded MD's right now. Some of them I have on CD but I thought it would cool to have them on MD as well. The least I paid was around $3 and it didn't have a case. I actually put a bid on a car MD player (MDX-C150, I think) on Ebay and won it $.99 and it cost me $11 for shipping and it had a Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run MD in it. And the radio works pretty good too. Some people are just trying to cash in whatever they can even if it is Michael Bolton. "I celebrate his entire catalog" -
I'm not sure how to tell but I've heard that the pro discs are better. I've had some problems with some of the Sony color collection ones I've used but that's pretty much all I have used so I can't tell.

Is this whole deal still available?
