  1. I have an 800 that I am selling (see http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=20349 for listing of the unit) has a pretty good VPF Acoustic Engine, it is actually a 4-selection surround sound that actually sounds pretty good, not enough to overwhelm me, but real good. The only drawback to using it is that you can only use it or the EQ one at a time, and they cannot interact (in other words you can't use both the EQ and the VPF together). Other than the 800-exclusive VPF circuitry, it and the 700 are exactly the same, they also share the same remote port which the RM-MC39LT tuner remote can be used.
  2. Or... you can get (if you can find one, try eBay or MiniDisc Access) the Case Logic MPC-2 MiniDisc carry case with velcro armband, it is made of tough neoprene and it would be perfect for your recording application.
  3. Oh yeah, it can. The 5 mW-per-channel amp can defintely drive them (even more with the EQ on), as the NC6's are only 20 ohms with power turned on, and only 40 ohms with the power turned off. This NHF800 has seen a bit of action, and that shows in the inconsistancy in the jog wheel action as well as the slight crack on the front, where it says "TV/Wearther/FM/AM", just above the display, and those are the main reasons for the huge discount on this setup. Thanks for the question, Ray Jackson.

  6. I have sold my Sony MZ-NHF800 Silver/Blue Hi-MD Walkman unit with bonus accessories and free shipping for the low price of $95.00 USD. As you see, it is a bit beat up, and has the marks to prove it, and it includes the ever-sought after RM-MC39LT remote, and MDR-NC6 short cord Noise Canceling headphones as well as the included USB cable, and instruction manual on CD-ROM. This holiday season, give the gift that keeps giving on its own..... MiniDisc and Hi-MD! Yes I DO take PayPal. Thanks, Ray Jackson user ID: BIGHMW
  7. GREAT pics Raja! Forget my NH700, THAT particular unit would go great with a 40ELK remote and EX90SL IEM's, but I think that the plastic silver finish on the remote may be in conflict with the brushed finish of the 3D.
  8. Cindy Margolis. Without question, hesitiation, or consultation. I had the unique distinction. and good fortune, of going to high school with her for one year (Erik And Joan Erikson Center, http://www.sfvcmhc.org/html/erickson_center.html 1983-84 in Tarzana, California, now located in Van Nuys), so my choice dates back about 25 years, I wanted to date her back then but she already had a boyfriend at the time. I was so bummed when I found out, but I am proud of her for what she has made herself into, after all, you do not want to send your kids to that dump, believe me. You are lucky to survive Erikson Center let alone graduate like we both did (Cindy graduated in February 1984, myself in June 1984, both on the Honor Roll).
  9. I can agree with that, as I still to this day, (after my 2000-inherited 32" Trinitron, built in Mexico circa 1993) crapped out on me earlier this year, continue to use my workhorse of a TV (yes, a CRT!), the venerable KX-2501A I got all the way back in 1985 (that's right folks, 1985!) which was made in Japan, back when Sony made great units (workhorses!) that actually lasted, like the earlier MD Walkmen, like the MZ-R50 and R70/90, which was the last series ever to come out of Japan, before shifting most of their factories mostly to Malaysia, along with China and a few other third-world countries back in 2001.

    Wanted

It is perfect for when you go out to a ball game or other sporting event for play-by-play, stats, analysis (i.e.: lifetime BA against a certain pitcher, etc.), but yeah, when you factor in that the remote also works with the NH700, the only difference between the two is the NHF800's 4 surround sound modes (VPF Acoustic Engine), which for some folks (not necessarily myself) is a plus.

    Wanted

I do happen to have an extra NHF800, just the basic unit, along with the radio remote, an RM-MC39LT, which despite A440's claim as a "useless" accessory, does have it purposes, although I would highly recommend an RM-MC40ELK remote for more versatility especially when it comes to recording. It also comes with a CD-ROM of the instruction booklet, as I bought this unit used myself, the power supply, and also some added accessories, and I can sell it to you at a pretty good price. Just PM me and I will give you a quote, and yes, I do take PayPal. It may not be the RH1 or the M200, but it makes a great starting unit for the Hi-MD upstart. Thanks, Ray Jackson User ID: BIGHMW
  12. In 1998, my management, Len Enders of Label Cove Entertainment, got his first MD deck, the MDS-JE510, as part of one of the MD BUNDLE series, which also included an MZ-E40 player. Later on that year, mostly thanks to a Sony MiniDisc TV commercial which aired here in the States back then, I became an MD freak for life when I got my first recorder, the often-heralded MZ-R50. Since then, I owned at one time or another, the JE510, MZ-E40, F40, R700, G750, N510 (CK), NE410, 2 NH600D's and a coupke of NHF800's, but now I am currently settled and happy with my 2 MZ-NH700 units, as well as 2 RH710's, and an RH1, as well as a a few legacy Walkmans (some of which I am keeping and some I am selling, see my classifieds), and also a JE520, and E10 pro deck, a couple of MDX-C5970 decks and MDX-65 changers (one set for each of my vehicles), and a few Connects 2 boxes for my Hi-MD units, so I already have sworn my allegiance to the ATRAC format and the MD/Hi-MD blank recording media. After reading all the horror stories about i--- and other MP3-based units bricking out on their owners, I am glad to be a user of The Source, just like Guitarfxr and Bobt are as well, so all of you out there should know this simple three word phrase in order to show your allegiance.... ATRAC or DEATH!!! Peace Out , Ray Jackson

  18. Thanks for the props, I am sure glad you enjoy your new unit. Peace Out , and keep the faith, Ray Jackson User ID: BIGHMW P.S.: I stille have tons of MD and Hi-MD stuff for sale, as my management , Len Enders of Label Cove Entertainment, Heavy Metal Warrior, Ltd.'s parent company http://www.MySpace.com/dedenderz suggested to me that even though most of you own about an average of 12-15 units (car/home/portable/pro) each, including backups of some units, that I should maybe tone it down a bit. Hey, Cindy Margolis is not the only one who has great management, I do too. And I always thought that Len and I were always MD/Hi-MD freaks, him and I getting into it 10 years ago (my first unit was an MZ-R50, while he owned an MDS-JE510/MZ-E40 MD Bundle), boy did we get taken to school by all you guys!!! Hey, Admins, can we please combine this feedback with my previous ones? Thanks, Ray Jackson User ID: BIGHMW
