Petition for ML_SONY plugin to work on Mediamonkey and MS Mediaplayer
otiasj replied to veggiemusician's topic in ML_SONY
Hello! I am not sure how easy it is to code a plugin for wmp, But It is true that probably more people would use it. As for mediaMonkey, I never heard of it before today ... It might be great (and it looks great) but as Cautious says "Who uses mediamonkey?" I am using winamp everyday that is why I will develop the plugin for it in priority. But as I said before my current goal is to create a library (SonyDB) that developpers can easily use to create their own plugin. So basically anyone with a little knowledge in programming should be able to port ml_sony to the player of their choice. SonyDB is almost ready, I am preparing unicode support, but the basics functions are already there. So you can start developing your plugin! I would be glad to see a lot of different GUI! Anyway thanks for the support :-) -
Petition for ML_SONY plugin to work on Mediamonkey and MS Mediaplayer
otiasj replied to veggiemusician's topic in ML_SONY
Uh... Ml_sony is an open source project, I don't have the time to develop a plugin for every media player. If you want a specific plugin, well you can code it yourself very easily by using the SonyDb library (also open source) that I made and participate to it's improvement! now the real petition you want to start, is to ask sony to release some specs for their walkman... however I think they will probably never do that. so it might be just a waste of time Regards, -
You are not supposed to put the files on the device. I probably need to create an installer or something thanks for trying anyway

Vodka : The name of the playlist is suppose to be the name of the m3u file, try again please :-) -create a playlist in winamp, - select it in your playlist manager, then click on "Manage Playlist" -> "Export Playlist..." - save it to UrPlaylistName.m3u on your desktop for example. - click on your "devices"->"X:Sony Walkman" slide the UrPlaylistName.m3u file from your desktop to the ml_sony windows. It should work, I know it is a boring way to do it, I will solve this problem in the next version. Nishipi : Hello :-) welcome to atraclife, <Rant mode on> Atraclife the place where people who bought sony devices can cry their eyes out. Most of people hate CP or SS, because it's buggy and proprietary. here are my reasons not to use it : I personally don't like Sony forcing me to use their software just because I bought their hardware. I prefer winamp because it has a lot of free plugins that I need. I don't want to have a "special software" just for transfering files to my walkman. I want to manage my music from 1 software. SS and CP are not compatible with other devices than sony, So my girlfriend with her creative player would have to use a 3rd software on my computer?? no way... (SS and CP are ugly ^-^) ps : You sound japanese, are you working in Sony Japan or something? ^-^ Wouldn't it be great if they released some specifications or libraries? That way they would get a lot of 3rd party software to work with their devices, and then they would probably sell more devices. <Rant mode off> BR no hard feeling intended mate :-) I am just a little tired with sony devices...

Hello everyone, There is more problems that I though there would be, I will release libtester 2 with an error analyser. (Probably around monday) Cautious : Yes thank you for the link to libusb I completly forgot about that. Keep sending me your reports please! Thank you all for the help

Sorry for the delay guy's, here is the libtester 1 libtester_release_20070619.zip nothing much here, just press "start" button, and see if anything fails... if there is no problem then just post a quick word in this forum. If something goes wrong please copy your results and send them to me as a private message to not polute the thread. Next week release will be a usb tester... (no more keycode stuff to handle ) Have fun,
-
Just drop a m3u file in you ml_sony windows
-
Ahah yeah I will release a simple libtester tonight :-) stay tuned! Also "for developpers" only If you are curious there is another test program in the svn directory.

Browsing the tag is not a problem, Although If I have to go though all the files to check every tag it will be very time consuming, also There is a couple of byte I think sonicstage is using to store his own db info, I might use them, but it will probably provoke severe crashes if you try using sonicstage... So finally I just created my own format to save my database info, it should be ok in the next release

Thx for the list garth it definetly saves me some time!

Hello everyone, Vodka : Did you add tracks from your "local Media->audio" directory? the apply button appears when you are modifying your player (add/del something) Spinorama : your problem is probably your winamp version, people have reported having problem since v 5.34 try v 5.33 and it should work, It's working for anyone else no reason it should not work for you. Let me know if it works
-
You are right, To check if a track is already on the player I am basing myself on : the title, the artist, the album and the track number. Those are the info that are easily available on the player. Maybe I will change that in the sonydb if I think of an easy way to do it. About google code, (and ml_sony website? ) I need more time to set all that :-( I am still working on creating the library tester. Anyway thank you for reporting this :-) it is helpfull! see ya

Yaroukh check this thread : http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?...amp;#entry23325
-
No at this point there is no space dedicated to the database, I need to add this. Sonicstage seems to keep an empty file of 50mb at all time on the device to make sure there is enough space to write the database and delete it when it need space for the db I will probably do the same

Hello, On the screenshot you took ml_sony does not appear, so the plugin is not correctly installed, check that it is installed in the right directory, the "portable" node is from winamp, you need to look for a "Devices" node

Hello vOdKa, check this thread : http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?...1528&st=340 and the faq (adding your music): http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1623 This question has already been answered, your walkman is supported and does not require a keycode. Please read the faq first and try different version of winamp (lastests versions seems to cause problem) thank you

Hello everyone, for the developpers of plugins using sonydb or developpers willing to help on the code, I have uploaded the library code to the source forge svn server, feel free to have look. This time I am using visual studio 2005 BR
-
Hello, It should not be hard to test. But I will need has many different devices as possible For a port to linux it can be done, it's just that I don't have the time to do it myself. Plus I think there is already a couple of solution on linux. You are welcome to start a branch to the project #et au fait c'est quoi ce complexe d'être Français? ^-^

Hello Tsmvengy, Keep trying on version 5.33, there is been some reports that the plugin is not working properly with v5.34. ok so first you need to confirm that the plugin is correctly installed: Connect your device and restart winamp. go to your media library and check if you can find a node called "Devices" If so the plugin is installed. now, bellow "devices" do you see something like "X:Sony walkman" ? if not your device is not recognized. (make sure you have a OMGAUDIO directory and an empty 04CNTINF.DAT file) Please answer the question bellow so that I can help you : - you have installed, run and operate correctly MP3 fm with your device? - you have installed, run and operate correctly GYM and GYM KeyGenerator? - what files do you have in your OMGAUDIO directory? Also you might want to check the ml_sony topic there is a lot of solutions there. EDIT : Tsmvengy if you have read this message please post a status update, so that I can now if there is more problem with that device! thx
-
Hello everyone, Falling animals : no there is no way to do that at the time, and since I don't own a device that can display album art. I won't be able to develop it. However if someone knows a open source soft that can do the trick I will try to add it to the plugin. Concerning the 5.34 problem, I did not get a chance to test it yet, I will see what I can do. The new library is almost complete, so I will need some beta testers to test it. It won't be a winamp plugin but a separate program just to test the compatibility. I will probably release it somewhere next month. stay tuned! ^^

nice! I did not know about that one! However it doesn't look like we can't get similar artist by an xml feed or simple html request I will investigate further. I don't know how to get the playback history yet (I have not looked into it yet) Are you planning on doing a sony plugin for lastfm? let me know if I can be of assistance EDIT : LastFm has an xml feed to get similar artists!!! I guess I will have to get started on this :-) Thanks for the help
-
Hello, 1- You formatted from windows? or from the device? 2- did you create a OMGAUDIO directory 3- did you create a OMGAUDIO\4CNTINF.DAT file? (make sure it's not a 04CNTINF.DAT.txt file! ) 4- did you create a OMGAUDIO\nocode.txt file? (NW-A1000 is not protected) 5- you can NOT drag and drop on the "X: Sony walkman" this is not supported you must use right click->sent to->x: Sony Walkman or try to create a m3u playlist drag it from windows explorer to the ml_sony window.

dobiedo : Never tested ml_sony on vista, probably a write access problem, the tracks are written to c: maybe vista UAC prevents you to do that? In any case sorry I don't own a vista copy at the moment so it will be some time until I can fix this.
-
part time hero: what player do you have? Are you sure you don't need a key code? Sounds like bad keycode to me, check the faq in detail before posting please.
