Karl, can you give me some additional info about your charger? Make/model, output info?

    5.2V DC POWER CABLE

I need some suggestions on where to get myself a 5.2V DC power cable. I looked online and I am getting prices in the $30 range, which is crazy! I need one to hook up my VP at work. Also I am hoping we have some electricity people in here. What would happen if I used a lower voltage, say perhaps a 5.0V, to power my DAP ? Obviously using a higher power would fry my unit, but I am do not know what could happen when using one of lower voltage. Any suggestions and thought would gratly help.
  5. Getting Linux to recognize your player can be done, I am sure its tricky..but can be done. Linux isn't as restricted as M$ or Apple. You just need to do your homework and do some testing. Should be set if you can get SS to work through winE Ref links for starters: http://tuxmobil.org/portable_players.html http://www.pdr.cx/projects/gnetmd/main/ http://blog.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.net.../month=20020601
  6. I am jealous, I need to recharge everyday. My battery barely makes it a full work day, then I have to charge it before I go out at night and play in my car. BOOOOO!!!
  7. I like the GUI, but trying to edit tracks is somewhat cumbersome for me. It's gonna take a learning curve to understand it fully. I was trying to find cover art for Chrono Trigger Soudntrack, but looks as though I need to change each and every song 1 at a time. Unless I am missing something, this is ridiculous. I gave up after a few minutes.
  8. Welcome madleet3 to the forum, your one stop solution to all your Sony DAP inquiries. Enjoy your new toy
  9. I would stop using Audacity. Try using something else, perhaps Cool Edit (now known as Adobe Audition). That's what I use when I need to work my tracks. I use Audacity too, but only as a second.
  10. I hope they fire someone over that. Damage is already done......they should change their name to STAR MAG or NATIONAL INQUIERER or even better MAD MAG
  11. A few things: BBC - such a reliable source of info. NOT! Considering their recent blunder for the mistaken cab CEO, I am sure these people got their act together. Patents are a funny thing. I could make a patent for something that is not even possible at this time, with technology not even developed. Then once it becomes reality and if someone else makes it, I could sue them and win. For example: I create a patent for holographic imaging and get rights. I have some notes, ideas, maybe a schematic and use this as my basis. Not possible at this time (I don't think) 5 years later someone develops it makes a 'gajillion' dollars. I sue and makes lawyers eyes go googly. Pretty crazy huh? If you don't believe me do some research. Patent laws need to be revised. And Japanese copyright laws are just crazy!
  12. Ah yes this is a very annoying problem...easy fix though. You are speaking of compilation CDs with mulitple artists. The best thing to do is to tag the artist as: Various Artists (VA for short) or the Album name. For the track tag you should put in the artist and the track name. It makes things much easier. Hope this helps
  13. What are you talking about ???
  14. Yea it should work out no problem. I have multiple models, but connect them one at a time. I see no reason why it would not recognize multiple units. SS would see them as seperate devices (drives)
  15. I am curious to know for those of you who have a VP, how long your battery usually lasts. Like most, I bought this used and I have set up the unit to play with the backlight always on. I know I can set it on a timer, but what can I say I love the LCD. In any event, today is the first time I have set it to play through out my work day. The battery life has already gone dry, which is about 6 hours. I know that I have to charge my VP on the craddle every night in order to get it juiced up again. Can all of you tell me know though how long it would last for you if you left it to play? Thanks PS - Depending on reponse, I may look into buying a battery. I can only imagine how much it would cost me . Also anyone have any links for me to look?

    PlayStation 3

Oh boy, did any of you check out the details at the E3 game show? Poor Sony, the price is gonna be so high and they are gonna lose more customer base. All thanks to Blu-ray technology. What used to be a gaming console for kid is nothing more than another adults do-da gadget. PS - I saw the preview of Halo 3 for 360......ooooohhhhhhh, excuse me I need to change my pants

    ss3.4 failure

This OMG box error seems to be very common. I am confident that you will find a solution. I would stick with it and not lose hope. Some questions: - Have you tried to install on another computer to see if it works? If it works on the other computer at least we know the issue is specifically with the computer - Does going back to SS 3.3 work? - Have you been successful searching through google for this error? - Probably won't matter, but update your computer with Windows Update. Could work out. Long shoot....hmmm I wonder is your AMD chip has something to do. FOR ALL READERS, is anyone else using an AMD chip and getting no such errors?
  19. Some questions for you: - Is this problem only happening when you are trying to import? - Can you use SS and is it just when importing that you get errors? - Will tracks play? - Can you acess your DAP? Can you play your files from your DAP? - Probably won't matter, but update your computer with Windows Update. Could work out. Have you done a google search for 'OMGJBOX.exe import' error ?
  20. I agree as well, though not sure exactly why this is giving you problems. Take a look and see if you can debug it. Sorry if I can't be of any more help. Good luck
  21. hmmm. WMP cannot connect to get info either huh?? How about Winamp? When you said you disabled your firewall and opened your ports, are you referring to your Operating System firewall ? (WIN XP has a firewall protection, which in a sense is pointless) When I say your firewall and ports, I am referring to your network router.....you know when you type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser ? Hopefully I didn't lose you. In any event, you seem to access the internet okay...since your posting in this forum. So the problem lies with your CDDB settings, either the address being accessed is closed/bad, or the proxy site to acess the CDDB site is closed/bad.
  22. Try this. Do you use any other type of player software? (Winamp, WMP, or anything similiar) Put in your CD and see if the other software can connect to get CD info. If it does then at least we know your problem is specific to SS. Also if this is true, you should tinker with your SS CDDB settings. - Is it registered? - Try to set up a proxy server If this doesn't work you'll have to do the uninstall install path. Make sure you get rid of all the keys. Before there must have been something you missed. If your positive that you did not miss anything, then the problem is your 'proxy settings of your default web browser'. Good luck
  23. Very nice Xispe, isn't so much better to install yourself rather than pay some random person a stupid ammount of $$$ ? PS - You didn't mention your make/model car.

TheMole Family -- A mama mole, a papa mole, and a baby mole all live in a little mole hole. One day the papa molehis head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says, "Yum! I smell maple syrup!" The mama mole sticks her head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says "Yum! I smell honey!" The baby mole tries to stick his head out of the hole to sniff the air, but can't because the bigger moles are in the way so he says, "Geez, all I can smell is.... Scroll down....... Scroll down....... Are you sure you're ready? You may never forgive me for this one... MOLASSES
