    WM-Port to USB Host

I noticed there is a folder called DCIM so is it possible to connect a camera or something through some kind of addon and move the photos across. I would get the 16GB one for my dad and then he could copy photos across, he currently has a gigabeat but its terrible and want to give him a reason to move to sony.

    Which LCD remote...

I used the RM-MC32EL, which i had from my previous MD, it worked really well it didnt display song titles or anything, but shuffle and repeat and all that stuff worked great. I have an S618 now and use a BT remote which works well, but doesnt have the same functionality that this old remotes had, and i miss it. Oh well, enjoy your new remote
  3. MP3FM wont wipe anything, if there is allready mp3s on it, it should work fine and not wipe anything on it. But if the device is formatted you need to use SonicStage and get the files back and then it will work. So basiclly just use MP3FM on your HD5 should work fine
  4. It only works with SonicStage, MP3FM or Vaio Music Transfer
  5. The Pulse mentions the A829 but doesn't list it so i didnt mention it, still very expensive $280 for 4GB and BT earphones
  6. Prices are crazy in Aus even though we are 90c to the US dollar the prices are still way off. The price for the A729 is going to be nearing $400 for the 16GB with no mention of the A829 16GB or the S718
  7. Sorry to tell you its not working ERROR INITIALIZING Index out of Range

    NW-A808 and Sonicstage

I guess just try Vaio Music Transfer, you need it to have the OMG folder for it to work, if nothing is on the drive it wont work, you can also try VoidMP3FM but i am not sure if that will work. Sorry to say but you might be stuck with SS, you could wait for the A729 and get that

    NW-A808 and Sonicstage

Yeh use MP3 File Manager, just open and drag n drop or use Vaio Music Transfer
  11. I would think so, i have the dock and its just a USB connector and you connect the WM-Port cable and it should charge
  12. Shhh, don't forget about Sony Media Manager. Wait that is still crap, so maybe not, but it does do playlists with album art so its worth a try
  13. It could well be that one, ATRACLife has been dead for a long time, this new player seems good but i am still happy with my one, nothing really new or exiciting except for BT which i have on a dongle
  14. I wanted to be the one to post it but guess you cant have everything. This player sounds sweet. I am happy with my s618 with bluetooth dongle works great and i dont see anything this will offer besides 16gb. They release new players too frequently. I still wouldn't have waited as i have got lots of enjoyment out of it so far, and bluetooth moto earphones with 3.5mm jack work great.
  15. If you are intrested i have a review of it in the reviews section, it works fine with a dock adapter that came with the player
  16. Hate to burst the bubble but how is it good at copying videos if it doesnt encode stuff. At least with RSS feeds it copies the album art which is a nice touch other than that its utter rubish
  17. It is much the same as the SE version i reported on, so dont get your hopes up, you have to pay $12USD for video encoding while basic features such as moving images and podcasting work fine
  18. Pro version is not free as far as i know, but then buy link just went to sony.co.uk Would be curious to know how much but i wont pay, podcast support is good adding pictures to the podcast but only does 320x240 and wont convert other sizes which i wish it would, a solid attempt but WMP11 is much better Media Manager PRO for Walkman - $12.95 (USD)
  19. ITS OUT http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/wmm_lite
  20. Would be good if you could provide a link, i guess i was right in saying it shares similarities with the SE version Found it http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/wmm_lite
  21. I agree, i would prefer a plugin that adds AAC and podcast support to WMP, as i doubt i will use the sony software but still want to see what it is like
  22. Fixed the links here are the images from the JAP version

    XML file on NWZ-A818

I saw this file also on my s618 i wouldnt risk it, what is the point, its not like adding OGG or something will mean it instantly supports it
  24. I am glad ppl finally agree with me, its a bad piece of software, as it failed to register even though just wanting email, bad at oganising music and just bad all up and too simplistic
  25. I wanted to write a review myself but never got around to it, now there is no need you have all seen the reviews of the A818 which answers most peoples questions and now this review should answer the rest of it. All i want to add is this is posiblity the best UI i have ever seen on a mp3 player and 100x better than the ipod's in my opinion. http://www.dapreview.net/p/content/content.php?content.345.1 I will instead review the various add-ons that you can get for the player In particular the BCR-NWU3 The sony dock is really nice with a reflective finish and should look good on any desk, works well with the S610 using the dock adapter that comes the the player. The dock provides 4 main functions only three of which are enabled on the NWZ-S618 - Power (AC adapter included) - Line In (Not Supported but works on NW-S7XX) - Line Out (Works on all devices that support WM-Port) - Computer (WM-Port Cable) The main thing i like about this dock is not only its great style but its snug fit with the player you dont have to worry about any cables just drop it in and it will charge your player and play via line out. You can not how ever play while connected to the computer so disconnect that cable if you want to play via line out. Line-in would be a good feature for some people with the ability to adjust the levels from 1 to 2. AC Adapter is a standard usb one which means it can be used with out the dock, just by connecting the WM-Port to one end and power to the other can charge other USB Devices but i have not tried. PS: I bought this from Japan on eBay and was a very easy transaction and $60 USD WLA-NWB1 SonicStage_3.3_JE_Installer.zip When i first got this i thought to myself OMG what have i done as it was an impluse buy when i got my new S618 and had not yet got bluetooth earphones yet. Without understanding how it works i thought it would only work with sony devices. Too my suprise when i did get my BT headset (reviewed below), i realized how to actually use this and it worked wonderfully, never disconnected, allways autoconnected, took less than 5 sec to connect and worked for a great distance away. A real joy to use and a great alternative to an fm transmitter, i highly recommend it to people who want to go wireless. To my suprise not only did the A2DP work flawlessly, AVRCP worked perfect also. It allowed Play\Pause << >> & Previous Track, Next track with minimal delay. This also cost around $60 USD Motorola S705 SoundPilot I was realy hestiant before i knew that the Sony BT would work so i held of getting this to the last minute, i was browsing eBay and say it for $40 AUD (normally retails for $200) and was available in my home state. It was too good to refuse so i bought it at once and havent looked back soon. Notable features are: - Screen with backlight - FM Radio with RDS - Dual Bluetooth connects from alternative devices (HSP\HFP or A2DP & AVRCP) - Caller Display - Voice Control (Phone) - Remote Control for computers (bug meant to only be audio sync). When i got this i was happy with ergonomics of it but looks like a mamoth when compared with the S618 but at 30g i cant complain. I really like that it has a screen but it doesnt display the track only says streaming, but the backlight makes it easy to use in the dark, with the joystick meaning it is easy to use if it is under clothing or in your pocket as opposed to tachtile buttons. All controls work well with little delay and offers volume controls also. Sound quality is reasonable with a lack of bass but still good for the non-audiophile. FM Radio offers great qualilty on par with the S618 's (doesnt work with line out), but has no presets, but pressing back still goes to your last viewed station. Things start to go downhill when you add a phone into the mix as it dials people randomly feels funny to use it ( i guess the same with all bluetooth headsets). Dont want to be shouting silent for everyone to hear. A delay in this is the problem as it starts dialing people and you dont know till you look at the phone. I say its a great device even better because it was $40 but dont use it as a Hands-free unless to have time to troubleshoot it. When i got my MP3 Player it came with a free leather case (snap-lock magnet) looks really nice a wrist strap, fake tattoes for the walkman and a screen protector which is prob over $100 of value for nothing. All up i was able to get everything i wanted for under $500 AUD and it works the way i want which i guess is priceless. Hope you enjoyed my review if you have any questions feel free to ask.
