While that is an interesting idea, I don't think it would work well. If you speed up the audio playback on the md, that means that it is playing back data faster...so instead of it being like 132 ks/s, since a second is suddenly a smaller amount of time, it would be more like 264 kb/s (for playback at 200%.) Since the audio recorder on your computer is still going to record at the same rate as it was before, it effectively cuts the amount of music data that it can record in half. (Meaning if you record a 320 kbps file, it will actually record roughly a 160 kbps file since it will have the same amount of time to record twice as much music.) So when you slow it back down on the comp, the sound will have gone to poo. Yanno, my explanation sucks and is flat out wrong in several places...like the concept is right, but all the data space and kbps stuff probably isn't...either way, I think you would lose a lot of quality if you were too speed it up and then slow it down. It's not worth the time you would save. However, it is a neat concept.

Nope, there isn't a way. You gotta record it in realtime.

lol Daijoubou and Sugo, we're really not that serious. (Or at least I'm not.) Maybe I'm just weird, but I don't like the t-boards very much and I think it is kinda funny how often links are posted to the t-board. Does it bother me? Not really, good information is good information and I don't really care where it comes from. It does get a little old at times when you can't post anything here without being referred to a different board...hell, if feels like a government institution or medical facility or something with all the being sent around from board to board that can happen sometimes. Either way, it doesn't really matter. I think Kurisu was kidding...and I was playing around when I was like yay! Whatever.

Uhhhhh....it's just you. I have the normal page again. Make sure that your browser is going to www.minidisc.org because the other page still exists, it is just a different link. Try deleting your history and temporary internet files.

No, it unfortunately doesn't allow sp recordings....and please post your question on a thread that is relevant to the discussion.

Originally, when I double-click a cd image Nero opens it. I changed it so that imagedrive opens it, but it still didn't fix the problem...and I still don't get track names. What I really want are the track names, it's easy for me to load an image.
-
I can't get it to work on my computer... Originally it wouldn't work because I was running a funky version of nero. I fixed that, but now it messes up when it tries to load the image onto imagedrive. I always get an imagedrive internal error, but if I load the image myself it works. Seems strange to me that I can load it but the program can't...and the other problem is that I'm not getting track names in simple burner, but that's probably because I'm having to load the image myself. Any ideas on how to fix it? PS - I'm 100% sure all my locations have been entered correcting in simpler md. I'm running a 2.0GHz 512 DDR SDRAM comp with windows xp.

Last Saturday, I competed in a Science Olympiad event where teams of two design and build two instruments and then play a written solo provided by the judges and a duet provided by the individual teams. Well, my partner didn't ever tell me that he wanted me to provide the duet, and as a result I found myself sitting in a loud room full of other teams with a couple hours to compose a duet for a homemade xylophone and "gargantuan panpipes." I wrote a melody but needed someone to play it so I could listen and compose a countermelody. Unfortunately, no one could read music and therefore couldn't play the melody for me. Realizing I had my trusty MZ-N10 with me, I pulled it out and, using my earbuds as a mic, recorded myself playing the melody. DPC let me slow down the music when stuff sounded funny to me. End result: I finished my composition and we placed fourth in the state despite our piece of crap instruments. Yay minidisc! (Take that, solid state!)

I got my Aiwa HP-VX100's today. Out of the box, they hurt my ears and sounded like crap. However, after breaking them in a little, they have gotten a lot more comfy and have started sounding better. Either way, I'm impressed with Audio Cubes. I ordered and received my earbuds without a hitch.

YAY!!!! I haven't registered on the t-boards because it is really cluttered and stuff...too much effort. These boards seem much more organized and concise. Links to the t-board are indeed rather annoying.

Good to see that no one tried to bid on it, and I hope no one contacted him personally. Either way, the guy is an ass...I don't care about rules or whatever, that is just crappy to sell information that you got for free from somebody else. Wow. He'll get his.

Yeah, I mostly use CD's for the same reason as just_visiting...most the mp3's online have some kind of horrible encoding. If you're lucky, you can find decent mp3's on kazaa if you download higher bitrate (>128 kbps) that sound fine. I have a cd burner and I copy my friends' CD's everytime I get the chance, so I have a bunch of cd's.
-
Most of my audio comes directly from CD's I own. I get some mp3's off kazaa. I use simple burner and dino's method to put audio on a minidisc.

Yeah I played around with it some, and I've come to the same conclusion as you, Josh. Patience is a virtue...one day NetMD will be freed from this bull, it'll just be whenever a brilliant programmer (or team of programmers) manage to hack the encryption and create their own NetMD programs. Or at least I think it'll happen sooner or later...hope...pray...

That's a crazy problem! Thanks for searching for a solution before posting. When you tried your N10 on other computers, did it work? If it did, then something is wrong with the settings on your PC. However, if it didn't work, then it sounds like you might have a faulty MD unit. It might have some weird USB power settings that are messing up how it links to the computer, hence why you get different results using different power supplies. Two more questions...why did you charge the internal battery via the battery case? I wouldn't think that would make a difference... Oh, and when you turned the internal battery off, would your netmd unit power up at all? Mine won't; I think turning off the internal battery just cuts the circuit entirely.
-
No, they haven't...but it is possible to buy sony replacements. the internal battery is lithium-ion, so it'll have a pretty good lifespan.
-
Well yeah, I guess it does what it needs to do...but still, it is basic, and an upgrade would be kinda cool

Just bought those Aiwa buds. I gotta send off the check tomorrow and it'll probably be a few weeks before my new buds show up on my front porch, but I'll post my own opinions of how they feel and sound once they show up.
-
Try converting the file to wave first, importing into atrac3 format, then deleting the wav.
-
A new board style that is a little more complex than phpbb would indeed be kinda nice...
-
Yeah, that is the most irritating thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah, this is a funny thread. Why would filling up the minidisc hurt it? Worst thing that happens is the very last song you record doesn't make it totally on the disc and gets cut off part way through. When the disc fills up, it simply stops recording; it won't record over any other songs or anything like that. You got up to 320 minutes in LP4 mode, take advantage of it!

Hey guys, M0V1 got a new e-mail address. Here it is: movi@o2.pl

I think I'm gonna check out those Aiwa buds since I'd rather not spend $50 on headphones. Those headphones you're getting look pretty cool! They only have a 30mm driver unit...isn't that going to hurt the bass response just a little bit? I don't know all that much about how to interpret headphones specifications, but in general I've found that headphones with bigger drives are capable of delivering bigger and clearer bass sound. I could easily be wrong though...either way, they look like a really solid pair of headphones!

Eggo? What's the difference between the EX70's and 71's? I thought it just had to do with cord length, but that doesn't look right...I don't like the "remote-friendly" headphones because I seldom use a remote so the cord is waaaaay too short for me. Kurisu, thanks for that link, it's actually really helpful to have a nice consolidated biew of a bunch of different buds. These buds don't look that bad...plus they're half the price of the EX's! http://www.audiocubes.com/product_info.php...&products_id=75 Anyone know anything about them?
