  1. wait "Damage" arn't u the T (Minidisc) Station forum main guy.. The_Stamp.. ....i c u wanna start a heated debate..on which language is better..well i wouldn't compare delphi with VB..it's a good thing u don't believe it's even in the league of love of my life "C++"..but it's a good thing u won't compare ur such a smart guy..
  2. my friend altho this is ur opinion..it's not accurate information USB 2.0 is not "much " Faster than firewire according to what ur using either for, the speeds may vary for instance firewire would b the way to go for just transfering pics from ur digi cam. to pc....where as i'd say USB 2.0 is is best for portable HDD n cd burners etc...(altho USB 2.0 is rated a lil faster than firewire...that speed is sometimes affected due to the fact that USB 2.0 uses more processor (or overal system power) when operating than Firewire...( u know how overheads are...they often prevent u from using all ur resourses to ur heart's desire)
  3. MR .."ruecker48" i skate..n i fall hard...i've never owned an mp3 player..cuz i've been skating(rollerblading) every since..n cuz they came out all big n clumsy(Nomad) i never went down that road but stuck to disc mans n migrated to mds in 99 never went back..trust me MD is the way for the rugged road....i promise u it will not skip...u can skate with a G-protected MD n i assure u" it will not skip" ( if ur not satisfied u can return the product for a full refund:grin: ) unlike some G-Protected disc mans that can't take the constant bumps on ur legs when u push which results in the lens bumping up n down not left n right...talk about wipe out..take my advice purchase a cheap md say an MZR 700..it's rugged n perfect for the job.i wouldn't advise investing ur money in a high end unit cuz after a while it's gonna look all bumped up, dented, scratched...n just not cute..so if having it look new n stuff matters to u n u do purchase a high end unit..always keep it in it's carrying case  ...i alwyas have 2 working units 1 to sport with n 1 2 skate with...if u can afford it..u can do that..presently i skate with my MZR 70 still...n my MZN707..on the contrary if skating with eggs in ur pants is ur thing then get an MP3 player and i wish u all the best  .....( i forgot 2 mention MDs don't need a computer to record.. u can record from any souce. u can plug ur optical cable to ur sterio n record straight snail way.or what ever suits u.. MP3s..uhh...still lacking tsk tsk. so far i think u still "need" a pc to do all audio recordings)
  4. hmm...i was all hyped when the 600 bus but cheups that was just thoughless hype...all in all i would never purchase an all plastic unit altho i'm a wee bit dissapointed in the NH900 being made outa plastic/aluminum i think it's too expensive n too high a model to b like that cuz being all aluminum would make it ultimate n there's just too many reasons to get one.. ..i'm gonna love that jog dial..u know when MZR 700/G750 came out the control pad looked like it could navigate cheups...NOT!!! but this i'm gonna love.. light weight..n pretty smooth on the edges compared to the MZNF810 which felt nice but was just a lil too rough on the edges...damn talk about this damn anticipation...first spring now summer..if it goes onto fall.....i just don't know what i'd do cuz right now i'm just just just just...........n what's even less impressive bout units nowadays is they don't make them like they used 2..it was the lower ranking models that had poor battery life ...now it's a complete reverse ( n have u noticed how SONY Disc man have outa this world battery life on NIHM or NICD n they keep getting better..what's happening to MDs..) ne way..
  5. option not explicit forum1.print "hmm....just 10mbps ..can u show me ur calculations? cuz i thought it was more like 15mbps..ok let's just say the value 1X = 150kpbs or "???"..cuz i'm thinking 1X = 150kbp & 1000kpb = 1mb then...100x would b something like 150kbps * 100 = 15000kps / 1000kps = 15mbps  makes sense?????? ok so now the time prospective would look something like this..to transfer 1GB which more or less takes the value of 1000Mb (1024MB "~")...=> 1000/100X = 10mins" private sub command1_click () Dim My answer as correct value Dim ur response as string string1 = ur freedom of speech Endsub....
  6. what's the actual model n type of the battery sounds like something i'd like to have ..can it b used in MD units
  7. ok so u've changed some settings...n don't know the original settings..well..here's a link to resetting the entire os..after doing this u can do the hack again... http://minidisc.org/sony_mzr_reset.html ...oh n it works just follow the instructions fully please pay attention to point 6 in the Auto Adjust Section about the power ..u MUST do it K.. had some digging up to do boy.. :wacky:
  8. well.... the option is probably for ppl who're into monophonic recordings like myself..where i'll listen to seminars n audio books.. ...i don't need ne other frequency but mids right..not only that but in MDLP units...recording in LP4 holds more than Mono..n to my reality LP4 does sound pretty good especiially when ur recording from the start of the disc...altho it's not near the same quality when the recordings reach the end of the disc..so yeah it's a pretty good idea..they're catering for us all
  9. can't wait for this page to end...don't like scroling to the side.. talk about big..the unit's like clumsy looking like the S1 but remember that's an entry/budget unit...it's made to look that way...speaking of budget units i''m thinking pretty soon they'll make every thing on mds a standard cuz this can use a remote.. unlike previous entry models....ne who.................
  10. cool ......man i'm soo excited bout this HI MD thing can't wait to get my NH900.. got a whole set of Hi MD features to show off on my still new n current NET MD users..n some friends who i know r just getting into the MDLP thing ... it's cool when you know more than the average man  (aww..how selfish of me )
  11. .. i never even checked that ..but that's dumb well who knows they probably developing ways of wiring the power through the remote port..or i guess they believe u'll always have a link to a usb port
  12. cool.. another Q bout formating..what's the process like...is it like when ur formatting a HDD it goes through the entire disck n wipes it clean or like when ur deleting an MD it goes straight to the TOC (i mean deleting the entire disc while the MD's idle)
  13. No prob that's what this forum's all about ..
  14. i'm curious havn't read nething on this one yet..how's the transfer? same ole convert then transfer or new process....n how fast is the transfers can u tell me?...(say u experimented using a song that's bout 3-5 mins long if u got the time) Thanks
  15. as with the display..does all menus display that way..by 3 lines or single line by single line is it totally new or like the MZN1
  16. yeah i figured but what i'm saying..y would u even need the download button if it's a usb unit...don't u do all the recording n what not through the software???..
  17. well think of it this way..most slot drives well atleast new onces need some sort of power to work n i'm sure there's some motor involved in pushing out the tapes etc...don't u think that would consume battery power.?
  18. that's true..i wonder y...i mean it's satalite right...we got err thing else..ne who..
  19. Please read this atleast twice b4 taking ne action if u got the guts 2 ne way  well servicing is an option  .. it's probably the best thing u could do..but if u wanna know how to balance the lens..u first need a very tiny philips or flat tip screw driver..open the unit (remember unfasten the screws holding the back first..take off the back then the front ..rememeber to b very careful when taking apart the front..unplug the cable connecting the chip board for the controls to the board.by unlocking the cable by pulling down the latch like thing) now the entire lens mechanism is connected to the uhh( u'll c the ribon connected to the magnetic head do not touch the very flimsy looking strip of metal but rather use the metal that it's screwed onto) it can b moved side to side by applying a lil pressure to move it ..move it a lil so the lens n the head is more to the far left..now look near the lens to the lower right i think.. u'll c a lil silver philips looking head..don't b mistaken it's not a screw...now apply very lil pressure when using the screw driver on it..make sure ur using a screw driver cuz it's made outa something like uhh...foil or something it's very very fragile..now twist it i'd say bout 15 degrees to the clockwise...reconect the cover do not screw the unit back just yet..but just put it back together (seeing it's the N505 u don't have to do all that..just c insert ur battery or power cable)..re connect the controls to the main board insert a disc n hold it close..plug in ur head phones...then press play ..it's gonna b a lil awkward to do this...if u notice the leans moving from the center to the begining of the disc then ur problem's almost solved or solved..if it then moves from the start of the disck..n it's like seeking then..u gotta try tweaking the screw like thingy another 15 degress...NOTE..only do it 4 times..do more at ur own risk..if after doing it 4 times clockwise try doing it 15 degrees x 4 anticlockwise till it reach where u started then do it anticlock wise n try inserting the disc again...now if u've followed these instructions just as i've told u (hoping that u understand clearly what i've said) that should take care of ur problem....but wait........u asked a question n i try giving u an answer....DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK (the only reason i ever had to do it was cuz i was idle some time had an old R500 that wasn't working..my warranty was up..n it worked..SIKE i knew what i was doing  ...) ne ways good luck.. oh 1 more thing oh 1 final detail..that lil screw like thing that i told u to twist...at 1st there's gonna b resistance...as i said use lil pressure..n don't press down when screwing..now if u find there's no resistance...i can tell u what to do  but once it reaches that far....my best advice is to have it serviced...(or wait again...u can tell what problem u got with ur MD n fix it urself.. u never have to go to a repair shop..most of the components can be replaced by u. it's not rocket science..my only prob is finding the parts..)
  20. nah...the no disc error usually appears after trying to record n cuz the ribon's damaged the disc's toc is damaged for good..in his case i believe his lens off balanced..so what happens is that when he pops in his disc the unit keeps searching the disc..it starts from the start of the disc then gradually go down then comes up saying no disc or sometimes read err.
  21. beyond what it costs where can i find it..i've been looking for it for some time...n as for which units r plagued with the problem..most of them really...but i'd say it started to happen with the MDLP units don't know y them..but my opinion is that's cuz the magnetic head got further to reach than b4 ...not only the ribon cable but i'm interested in getting the lens cuz i got 2 units here that i wanna repair..
  22. oh my sorry for taking soo long...what's happened is that ur len's off balanced..it's not angled properly probably due to some hard shocks the unit was subject 2 at ur own risk here's what u can do...open the unit..take off the back carefully first then the front lid...remember to unplug the cable runing from the unit's chip board to the lid.. then be very careful  ...now u should have a tiny screwdriver ready..preferably flat tip..then if u look next to the lens...u'll c something that looks like a lil silver philips tip screw...becareful it's very very soft..u can't just spin it around now apply very lil pressure to the screw driver n spin the screw say 15 degrees... probably clock wise first..then put the unit back together pop a disc inside...n play ..if the problem persist then go back in the unit again i do it another 15 degrees clock wise..do it i believe the most 4 times...do more at ur own risk..just keep twirking it till it's set..u'll know when it's set cuz when u pop in a disc for instance the lens won't go all the way down to the end of the disc rather it'd just back up to the start of the disc read the toc n then then start playing..now after trying it clock wise..n it still won't work...try doing it anti clock wise the same procedure ..remember not to apply too much pressure on turning the screw driver nor pressing it into the screw..(it's not a screw actually just something with a philips head with a very tiny spring underneath.) b very very careful while doing this procedure..or else u'll damage the lens...n beyond that i can't tell u what u'd have to do..but that's sure to do the trick if u do it right....
