Sorry I never replied MZ-NH1, been busy. :x But yeah, these types of things should reside in our off topic forum, and why don't we just condense it all to this thread?

I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding your english, but I assume it's an issue with Sonicstage..please fill out the questions here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8027

Snatched from Reuters here. I know that this article is stating the obvious, but it's powerful for reuters to have such context. Hopefully Sony's San Jose endeavor will do something better.

Download it here: It's big, but only installs what you need. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

The NH1 is not known to have any limitation on it's volume in any region.

Nah, the MPX220 comes with a USB charger that doubles as an activesync connection. I'm messing with movies instead of music now actually, with a program called Betaplayer. I've already used PocketDivxEncoder to convert a 45 megabyte *.avi file into a resolution suitable for the phone [which also made it 23 megs instead], yet still in *.avi format. It's very cool to watch videos, and the hit on battery life seems to be not that bad. Next up I shall try converting Empire Strikes Back onto phone..hopefully it'll fit on my 512mb card. No lag with this PQI miniSD card, but I've heard bad things about Kingston and Sandisk in regards to speed with videos. It really looks awesome, I wish I could show you guys in person.

They just called my cell phone to verify my order [odd], but it looks like everything is new and will be a-ok. EVERYONE needs to jump on this deal, for sure!

Converting Nh900je Display To English
Christopher replied to gingervoodoo's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Right, but don't you find it queer that it can't display Japanese text? This kinda sucks. -
You need to stop using Sonicstage 1.5 and upgrade to 2.3, as per the instructions at the top of the forum.

A Little Question About The Atrac/atrac3/atrac3+
Christopher replied to a topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
You forgot Linear PCM. But yes, those are choices available to Hi-MD users, and yes, LP2 is ATRAC3 132kbps. Here's a handy chart: http://www.sony.net/Products/Hi-MD/capacity.html#3 -
What's your maximum budget?

Your system should be fine if you install it on your own. Why not try asking your Network Admin about it, eh? If he gives you the run around then I'll give you a manual download link. Also, let's not mess with your anti-virus. For future reference however, you can manipulate such in Start > Run msconfig ..and then click on the Startup tab. Uncheck away in there. Nonetheless, try our Sonicstage 2.3 installer and see if things work after that. Maybe SP2 isn't necessary, but please look into it regardless.

Anyone else trying this? I'd like to hear more experiences.

I wasn't aware that the Canadian version of the NH700 was capped in any way.

Go to Start > Run and put in: winver ..and press enter or "Ok". Within this box it will tell you if you have service pack 2 or not. If not, then manually open windowsupdate.microsoft.com through Internet Explorer and keep doing express installs until it says you have no more updates to install. If for some reason it won't let you install SP2 or anything of that like, just tell me as I know manual download links. After confirming that you have all windows updates, download our 2.3 installer. This will update your installation easily and at least eliminate the questionable integrity of Sonicstage in the troubleshooting process: http://forums.minidisc.org/images/SS23ENG.exe p.s. To stop Norton, can't you just right click on the icon in the taskbar and find whatever they've dubbed "off". It may be within Norton itself.

haha, took me a moment to get it, but you're a real comedian at 8 am. Of course, I could be wrong, but I will note that it doesn't seem compatibility will be lost this time around - I have no doubts that it will occur, though. The real thing is that you people need to think outside of the box. The features that will be added are more or less hardware revisions to promote usage without it being counter-intuitive. Don't expect "viva revolution", but it will be nice.

Wow, this is huge! So can we safely say that the limitation on volume has been lifted? Does anyone object to me announcing this in the next "forum focus"?

I've removed your bmp attachment. Please convert it to gif or jpeg..

A fellow named MDX-400 summed it up nicely at another forum a coon's age ago: Strangely enough, Dolby actually had an "unseen" hand in creating ATRAC. Sony apparently inadvertently used some of the ideas/information that Dolby already patented while making the ATRAC compression scheme. Either by lawsuit or settlement Dolby and Sony did reach some agreement and that is why to this day every peice of MD gear bears the statement: "US AND FOREIGN PATENTS LICENSED FROM DOLBY LABORATORIES". So not only is Dolby not just "for cassettes"--it is actually "for MD" as well--they hold patents on stuff that makes up part of ATRAC!
