No, it was all on my own. When I first joined as an administrator, I had no prior experience and I overmodded the forum with code and modifications that weren't very sound. It's taken me this long to troubleshoot and clean the inital mess I made. I have learned alot about phpbb, php, mysql and such since then and I can only note now that things will keep improving.

I was looking over av watch's page about the 25th anniversary of the Walkman [here], when I noticed this little gem: Now, as you can see this unit clearly has the text "Hi-MD audio", and then under that I am making out "Memory card reader for Hi-MD". Pictured under the unit is a memory stick. The button on the left has text over it which says "Copy". You'll need a Hi-MD recorder to use it, and it MemoryStick / SecureDigital / MultiMediaCard / CompactFlash. How to use: Plug this reader into a Hi-MD recorder. Then you remove the memory stick from your camera and stick it in the reader. The data gets transferred to a Hi-MD disc that you put in the Hi-MD recorder. Hi-MD average transfer rate will be about 350-400K/sec. That makes approx 12 minutes for a 256MB card, assuming nothing else gets in the way. The unit will be available in September. p.s. Thanks to bhangraman for filling in some of the details of this unit, it's very appreciated.

Another good page: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=3979 I think that if we were to go further, discs like the ones we employ now with Hi-MD will be readable by future units + higher densities will require newer Hi-MD units. Is it possible to release a 5gb Hi-MD disc for use with the equipments available today? Maybe, but if you're writing at USB 1.1 will you really want it? The true barrier is the writing speeds of the process. Once they tackle that, then the limits no longer exist. They would have to release a new unit [with a laser capable of writing at a lower laser wavelength] to be compatible with anything like 48gb. What do I envision? A unit in the future that will not read existing MD discs, but Hi-MD discs and beyond.

I think I fixed the speed. This is the fastest the forum has ever been overall.

Emulated on a Mac via VirtualPC, or installing Windows XP on a Mac just to use Sonicstage. You can multi-boot off a Macintosh..I've seen it done before.
-
No problem! Enjoy the music - that's what it's all about.

There is no word on this yet. Most likely if the format "lifts off" then there isn't any doubts that some form of deck would come steadfast. As soon as we know it'll be discussed in this forum and then in the front page of minidisc.org.

Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread? [part II]
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
Possibly. Please do not ask questions twice like this. If you wish to continue discussion about your inquiry, please do so in the thread you created. -
After a long time, unhappy campers, and a petition...
Christopher replied to Ppk3000's topic in Minidisc
I agree. Please do me a favor and post the content of your inital post in the thread you linked. I'm locking this one.. -
Most likely Windows based and not Mac compatible, but there could be a chance that it could be emulated on a Mac. I've also seen people have multi-boot Mac machines, so maybe loading a stripped version of XP on a Mac [this isn't hard, just google it] could be a somewhat sane solution.

Look in the NetMD forum.

The forum has been upgraded from phpbb 2.0.8 to 2.0.10. I have also removed the color mod for administrators and moderators as it was buggy and not functioning properly in all the aspects it was supposed to.
-
Welcome to the forums. I'll have to give this one a shot..thanks for the report.

Was this an upgrade from Sonicstage 1.5? If so, uninstall via the directions in the NetMD faq [registry edits and all] and install the client from connect.com. Also, you may want to make sure you have all of your windows updates. http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Just make sure you get 1400 or 1450 mAh.

Your damn right. I was way off, and here's a good site for further reference. http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-23.htm

Hook you up? How? If you want the image you can have it, otherwise I'm confused.

Please inform us of your progress so if someone in your situation comes across this thread they'll know where to go. Good luck!

That is the best battery, albeit a little overpriced. You may want to scout eBay instead as I see many of these batteries there for less than $10.
-
The battery definitely takes longer than 15 minutes to charge. I would suggest that you exercise this method for charging: Use battery till it's completely drained. Charge for 3.5 hours. Repeat. Make sure you only charge when the battery is near death or dead period!

Welcome, bigal. This should work, but there is no harm in trying. Most digital connections like this work do well with trackmarking [at least in my experiences].
-
Hi.. Please uninstall via the directions in the NetMD faq and then install Sonicstage 2 from connect.com only.
-
Try going to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and make sure you have all Windows updates.
