  1. Not sure what software you'll need for this process, but what you can do is: get a male-to-male stereo cable, hook that up to your headphone out on the unit and hook the other end to the Mic in on the computer. Then you would press play on the unit and record on the computer and create tracks that way. Hopefully someone will chime in about the software bit! You could also use a deck with a digital out and utilize a soundcard with a digital in for digital uploading..
  2. Look into the Sony N10. I can't confirm it's the lightest, but I know it's hella thin and has the features you need.
  3. Welcome to the forums. N707's go for a pretty keen price on eBay; I'd check that route. Also, I'd love to make a recommendation, but what's your budget?
  4. Yes, this thread has run it's course. Locked
  5. Sorry to say, but I think this one is toast. Perhaps you should swing by a repair shoppe and get a quote?
  6. Hello there. Welcome to minidisc.org's forums! What kind of MD unit/etc do you own? [moving this to correct forum]
  7. Doesn't put an "end" to this thread, as there is still an important difference between a regular digital amp and HD one. Units like the N920 have this "digital amp". I did notice the NH900 having a HD digital amp yesterday, though..that is most fantastic news!
  8. Decreased the signature size to 25 until I fix the formatting. Also added a little animation to the private message icon. I don't think I ever mentioned this, but a while back I implemented a more advanced new reply/topic system; "View posts since last visit" will cache all posts you haven't read that are new until you read them.
  9. A Hi-MD unit only plays tracks that have been encoded into ATRAC. Hypothetically, you can either transfer a *.mp3/other format to be compatible with the unit and the help of SonicStage 2, or from another source ala optical/mic-in. Copyright issues? I know enough to say that there are no longer check-in/check-out limitations with SonicStage 2, and all tracks that are recorded to MD are in a secure *.omg or *.oma format. You will be able to upload anything you want to a Hi-MD disc, as essentially there are two sections to it: data, and music that is playable on the unit. The unit will not be able to play or interact with the data on the disc. Get what I mean? I can tell already you're quite the character, Paul. I enjoy a good BLT every so often, I suppose..although a fried chicken sandwich always hits the spot. Anyway, Shinjuku will probably not see Hi-MD units till June, perhaps July. I would expect them to be available in full force in Eastmouth, but if you can pull yourself away from Kabukicho then you'll see for yourself. :rasp:
  10. Do you employ a surge protector? The only thing I can recommend is: 1.) Try it in another outlet. 2.) Give the unit a rest for a day and then try again.
  11. Hi-MD units cannot upload previously recorded recordings made with the existing MD format. Furthermore, the NH1 is no where near the cheapest unit, it is in fact the most expensive. I would suggest you look into the NH900 for the best price and functionality.
  12. Okay, so what would you like me to do? On my browser, I "increased text size" and it worked quite well. Please follow suit and you should be fine. If this does not work on Microsoft Internet Explorer, then I suggest you download the latest version of Mozilla FireFox, which seems to correct this issue. Mozilla Firefox is a much more advanced browser and carries features that will compliment your internet usage, espesically for someone who has used it as long as you, and it's free. http://www.mozilla.org
  13. You may have to reinstall the drivers for it; go to Mitsumi's website or call/e-mail their technical support and I'm sure they'll be able to give you a hand.
  14. M is probably right. If you are keen on such, remotes go for a pretty fair price on eBay.
  15. Not to be pretentious, but I know alot of Hi-MD. I also notice that in threads people will come in and ask questions about Hi-MD in a thread that is talking about such, but not what's related to the actual topic. So, as a Hi-MD guru, I will entertain all one-liners here! Feel free to ask me anything.
  16. more information on digital amps: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4120 If you upload all of your *.mp3's in a data and a non-playable sense to Hi-MD, then yes, you won't have to worry about encoding.
  17. HH, from the reviews I've read at headfi.org forums, I would suggest that you get the Sony V6's or the CD780's - they seem to be the best bet in this price range in the Sony sense.
  18. Just to spur some activity in this forum, I figured I'd ask.. What's your favorite band, and why? I'd have to say Radiohead for myself. No other group has touched my soul in which this band has suceeded in doing, time and time again. Their inital efforts are somewhat overlooked, but are just as brilliant as their music of today. It's a shame that most people just associate "Ok Computer" [which is fantastic, believe me] with them and that's it, which is a shame as the later albums are much more sophisticated - and redefine the term "esoteric". I am very keen on all the members of the band, and I love how they incorperate different instruments and devices to create a sound that has never been made before. Except for some of the songs on Hail to the Thief, most of the songs Radiohead have written took two or three years to master..and it's beyond evident. I'd keep ranting, but you get the picture. I think the beauty of music is what you can associate yourself with, and Radiohead seems to be the band that is currently defining my transition from teenager to 20something.
  19. Whatever error that was with the login has been fixed. Phpbb is a real pain in the arse sometimes..[spare me the IPB advertisement, D. :rasp:]. Also, I would offically like to welcome BJ to the moderator team. This is definitely the last person I am hiring for the forums, unless some of the old moderators come back and are interested in rejoining the team. Hopefully Roland [MDX400] will be active soon and help you guys out with the difficult technical topics.
  20. Hm. Honestly, my plan initally was to have one template at a time, and it's going to stay that way for a while [there's more to just having "skins", you have to have each modification made to the forum applied to each skin]. Eventually the look will change again [perhaps late in the year], but for now this will stay. As for more smileys, 20 isn't enough? :rasp:
  21. Depends on the computer, methinks, but those seem like valid assumptions. I haven't really messed around with NetMD too much, as 1:1 optical dubs have always been my flavor of choice. Btw, just to make sure you know, SonicStage 2 seems a bit faster with the whole encoding process. http://umsis.miami.edu/~nblack1/ss2/
  22. Yeah, but this is the inital offerings of the format, and to think that anything related, whether low or high end would come cheap is somewhat silly. The prices will become more agreeable to those who contest over time, just be patient.
  23. Interesting, Leland. Thanks for clearing that up for me/him, I've never been too keen on the inital SS/OpenMG.
