Yeah, I need to fix those two skins. Stay tuned..

Yes, feel free to ask some questions and we can help you on your way. Welcome to the forums, as well.

The board has been upgraded to Invision 2.1.5.
-
Invision upgraded the board today and messed up the skins pretty bad. If I wasn't so busy I'd do it myself, but such is life. Never going to make that mistake again. p.s. BasicX and the default skin will be back to normal soon.

Just as quickly as it was announced, MDcenter.nl has obtained a MZ-RH1 prototype unit and has come across some amazing new features that were previously unknown. Transfer speeds are faster, mp3 playback is fixed (numerous users in the forum have reported in the past that it was poor), ability to remember auto/manual recording level even if the unit is off or discs are swapped, and more. A few movies and pictures are also found within the above link. Check it out!+++ Read more here: http://www.mdcenter.nl/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2084

I didn't write it, but they did link to us via the source post. I think Sony is making some solid decisions with the direction of the format, and it will become very obvious when the RH1 is available worldwide that Hi-MD can still be relevant in 2006 and beyond.

Try now.

A Beautiful Revelation -- the Epic MZ-RH1 Arrives
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in News
Marck from mdcenter.nl has a RH1 in his hands now and says that the USB transfer speeds are about 2x faster than a RH10. -

The community forum has had numerous topics and posts asking of Sony to develop a Hi-MD car unit or professional deck. Budgeting aside, the potential for either of these offerings makes more sense to the userbase than a small bookshelf offering such as the LAM-X1. Now that Sony is curbing the direction of Hi-MD to a more professional realm, we have requested our userbase to answer a few brief questions in a poll to determine how popular this notion truly is. Please participate..+++ To vote, you will have to register with the forum. The software will not allow me to turn on guest posting, but registering only takes under a minute and is free (use the pink bar at the top of the site). Thanks! Please feel free to speak your mind about this matter.

The black model will be available in Europe, it has been confirmed so I can imagine that it may be available in the US; nothing solid on that front yet. Nonetheless, I am really excited about this unit and I will definitely be getting one ASAP.

The DH10P Review by The Blue Raja
Christopher replied to theblueraja's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
I finally got a chance to sit down and read this; excellent review..I like the personal touch. I'll link this on the front page soon. Sadly, this is truly the last "fun" MD unit that will probably be released, as they will become more and more aimed towards live recording. I think I may get one soon. -
We had to pay for extra bandwidth a few days ago, coincidentally. Expensive stuff, gotta wonder how Google and all the rest do it.

With almost 500 people on the forum, I imagine so..

A Beautiful Revelation -- the Epic MZ-RH1 Arrives
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in News
Most likely nothing will be removed. Black, one-liner. If not May, definitely summer. -
From fiction to reality, the latest generation of Hi-MD has arrived; all of the specifications and media have been revealed, and we've got it all covered. There is a special surprise for legacy MD users..+++ Sony Japan announced today (March 23, 2006) that it will release one new portable Hi-MD recording Walkman unit named MZ-RH1 on April 21st, 2006 (May 2006 for Europe, most likely summertime for USA) in two colors, black and silver. The expected retail price for this new device is approximately 39,800 - 40,000 yen (approx. USD$340 - 350), but it should hopefully arrive in the United States around $300. So, the biggest news of this release is that it can upload non Hi-MD audio; anything recorded by NetMD is not allowed to be uploaded, unfortunately. So that means all of your old SP and MDLP live recordings can finally be uploaded via USB! For example, an SP mode track uploaded to Sonicstage 3.4 will be converted to PCM or Hi-SP (your choice); MDLP tracks will keep their 132kbps and 66kbps bitrate, repsectively. Only Sonicstage 3.4 will be able to faciliate these types of uploads with the new unit. Furthermore, the MZ-RH1 is PC and Mac compatible (it will come with a new version of Mac uploading software which we'll report on later) out of the box. The press releases are also stating that the MZ-RH1 is capable of full USB2.0, which is not the same as the "compatible" nonsense we've had to live with for half a decade. The device also features a High Definition Digital Amp, and a normalizer for playback so there are no erratic volume fluctuations whilst listening to your favorite music along with a 6-band EQ for whatever coloration you desire. Obviously, the unit has a thin OLED display which can give a wide variety of information regarding the recording situation (examples). There is no official word that it can recall your recording mode, so you may still have to manually set it each time you record. Width, depth and height equate to 87.7×17.3×87.7mm and it will weigh about 106g (including battery), which is a fair weight as it's made out of aluminum. Headphone output, as usual, is 5mW, and there is no word yet if there will be a european volume limitation but we will have the information to defeat this if necessary. There will be no AA add-on attachment for this device, which is a strange move for Sony considering that this is aimed towards the live recording enthusiast; it will only employ a slim LIP-4WM battery. SonicStage 3.4 with Win 64-bit (AMD CPU) fails with 1GB discs
Christopher replied to 1kyle's topic in Software
I have no problems uploading and downloading to Hi-MD discs in 64-bit Windows XP Professional Edition. Do you have all the latest Windows Updates and latest drivers for your motherboard? -
