  1. Currently listening to "Superfly" from "Superfly" by Curtis Mayfield. Nice 70's funk to get me through the afternoon. Listening on a brand new NW-A808 in black.
  2. I'm this close to buying the A808 from any online retailer... I'm with aob9. I have no idea why Sony USA hasn't even announced this product for the States. The whole world knows it's out there, but why no US love? Are they waiting to release something better here? Or just letting the rest of the competition continue to increase their lead in the portable music race? I've been pleasantly surprised to read all the positive reviews of this device... looks like I'll also need to search online for accessories like carrying cases... :-/
  3. Do you think there will be a tool, similar to the MP3 File Manager for the E40x/50x series that would allow for mp3 file transfers w/o SonicStage? Not a dealbreaker, but curious.
  4. How did you find this on the US Connect store? I can't seem to find it...
  5. Yea, looking good. @sdfzz: I think the "Plays X hours of audio and Y hours of video" is capacity, not battery life. I looked at the 8GB model first and thought to myself, "Wow, 130+ hours of audio playback on a charge would be incredible." And it didn't make sense after looking at the 2 and 4GB players with smaller battery life. Photo viewer is mentioned. Not sure about lyrics support, but would be nice. Let's hope that Sony supports this product line for a while and brings some updates to it via firmware upgrades.
  6. 199.99 GBP = 392.415 USD United Kingdom Pounds United States Dollars 1 GBP = 1.96217 USD 1 USD = 0.509639 GBP I like how it looks.. esp. in black! But I want to read more specs and details than what's posted there. Any sort of drag and drop support on a device like this is excellent. I haven't used Image Converter software before, but I imagine it allows drag and drop of all multimedia files. I'm waiting to hear more details and specs, like anticipated battery life, how it handles widescreen videos since it's a 2" 320x240 (4:3) screen, etc.
  7. Interesting snippet there. After seeing the flurry of new devices today from Sony, I was also really hoping that there was a possibility of BT 2.0 (A2DP) being included in this new player... just think of the possibilities.... stream music from your fancy new NW-A800 to your car stereo, bookshelf system, wireless headphones, - maybe even the PS3? Hey, it has Bluetooth built-in too!
  8. Apologies if this is the wrong forum/thread, but what is the best price people have found for the EX90SL variant? I have a pair of the LP's, which I love, but the long cord is slightly annoying to use with my RH1 and the remote.
  9. How long will you make us all wait? Feb? March? Longer? I long for the day when Sony does something unsuspecting and awesome. Like ATRAC on SE phones ;-) Maybe something even better. Any hints?
  10. How soon will the rest of us hear about what Sony has in store? Will those of us who use ATRAC be happy overall?
  11. I agree that there is a draw for not requiring SonicStage, though I would love to see a dual-method approach for getting music on the device, similar to how it works with the PSP. You can definitely drag and drop mp3's via USB, but it is also recognized as an ATRAC device in SonicStage. Gives you the best of both worlds. The PSP seems to handle the two together very well. Why not a cell phone too?
  12. Thanks for the review. I'm actually surprised SE ever released a phone that had ATRAC capabilities, even as limited as this one was. I just sent an email to SE a week or two ago requesting that newer phones include ATRAC playback, since there's a store that supports ATRAC (Connect) and it would give a leg up on the competition. Up until now, the iTunes phones by Motorola weren't all that amazing (slow interface, etc.) SE's design and already pretty good Walkman software on the W-series mobile phones could be that much better. Maybe some cool stuff will be announced by Sony/Sony Ericsson at CES next week? I can only hope.
  13. Lack of ATRAC support (and proper viewing of albums, esp. by various artists) are my biggest gripes with the w-series phones. I have the w810i and enjoy it a bit, but I have almost all my music in ATRAC format for use with my MD devices and E507. If they added ATRAC support in the next line of phones, it would be nearly perfect for me. And I think they could handle the transfer issues just like they do with the PSP. It is an ATRAC compatible device (even supports tracks purchased from Connect.) You can drag and drop mp3, aac and wma, but must use SonicStage to transfer ATRAC files. A great combination of features and flexibility, if you ask me. Maybe something they could consider across their line of w-series walkman cell phones and upcoming DAP's.
  14. Saw the following over the weekend (DVD): - Click - Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - Cars
  15. I just saw this last night! The movie was actually quite amazing. Plot was strong, great action scenes, some high-tech (and all Sony - but no MD) gadgets, hot women. Highly recommended. Well done, one of the best (of the few) I've seen in the Bond series.
  16. Recently purchased a LocationFree LF-PK1 kit. Also ordered a Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad z60m notebook for $900 (closeout). Centrino 1.6 GHz (I think), 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, wireless, firewire, 3 x usb ports, 15.4" 1680x1050 screen, XP Pro... pretty excited. Will be nice machine to use at home.
  17. Another just OK upgrade. Small speed improvements and more enhancements for non MD devices. Would be great to see DSEE like functionality added to portable devices - maybe via firmware (only dreaming here)? It would be great to remove the DRM added to uploaded tracks. Really, why add it in the first place? You allow conversion to WAV already, just go the next step. Otherwise, I'll wait for the next incremental upgrade and install that when it comes
  18. Picked up this week (Tower Records - of which we have 3 local stores - is closing their storefronts. 30% off everything right now, with sales destined to get better.) - Thievery Corporation: Versions - Blank & Jones: Relax Edition Two (2-CD Set) - BBC Radio 1 (Chris Coco & Rob Da Bank): Blue Balaeric (2-CD Set)
  19. You are correct about the dvr-ms files. They are the video files MS XP Media Center Edition stores recorded television in. This new version sounds more interesting, but I don't know if I'm ready to plop down $17 for software to manage files on my PSP. Part of me still believes it should be included, especially considering the crazy steps necessary to get AVC encoded files onto the device (strange filenames, oddball directory structure forced upon the user.) We'll see...
  20. Just picked up today: The Album Leaf: Into the Blue Again Compounds Elements: An Introduction to All Saints Records Ulrich Schnauss: Far Away Trains Passing By (2 CD set)
  21. Great pics! The disc colors are very subtle. I like it.

  23. Depends on the headphones I use. If in a relatively quiet environment, like my home, 8-11 with my XD-400's or 9/10-14 with my EX71's.
  24. Just received Leigh Nash "Blue on Blue" today via Amazon. 1. Along The Wall 2. Nervous In The Light Of Dawn 3. My Idea Of Heaven 4. Ocean Size Love 5. Never Finish 6. Between The Lines 7. More Of It 8. Angel Tonight 9. Blue 10. Cloud Nine 11. Just A Little
