    Sony MZ N10

Well charging the battery isnt an option but most battery come %25 charged anyway... I ask em to pop an MD if they have one around, mostly they do... and listen to it for 5 seconds, skip songs, ff-fr songs etc... fiddle with the menus. I always have to be sure the product works properly. Its just me
  2. More than double digits... triple digits in aussie dollars... It is always pricey to get things repaired especially when it is more than just a couple years passed its warranty period. Thats how companies maximise profits these days.. Aint it crap? A company official asked me once "If you owned Sony would you rather earn profits from only the sales or from sales AND parts"... I rest my case...

No u dont need to fully charge anything... they all have a battery case or an AC adapter dont they Majestic Simple really... Always get it tested before you buy. You can save your self a lot of headaches afterwards. I am just being smart that's all hehe
  4. But why? I only listen to my MD when I go out or late at night when everyone is sleeping... I do not use it as a music sytem that i will need an infrared remote for... Just beats the purpose I reckon.
  5. Oohh now we have Steve's method on top of Dino's method Gets better everyday... lol
  6. Well with windows98 the drivers can stuff up after a while so i just thought it could be a driver problem. A format solves the problem but who would really go through all that hassle. Plus not everyone is really a computer whiz. I dont think ppl with XP experience such problems...
  7. Yes I like the Simple Burner software too. Its just very simple and straightforward. No need to worry about check-outs and crap like that. I just wish they woud allow true SP through simple burner or sonicstage though. I dont really care about the transfer rate too much. Sure its great but its just a hassle recording from my HiFi's digital out and then connecting it to the computer just for titling purposes. It would have been great just being able to record at SP quality on the puter. Ah well... maybe next gen MDs might have that...

    Drag n Drop?

First you have to IMPORT them into SonicStage or OpenMG as ATRAC3 encoded files as Majestic said... then you can copy them to your minidisc in LP2 or LP4 mode. But your are limited to only 3 check-outs... So 3 recordings per song. Crappy eh?
  9. We just have to hope the site doesnt go down though... Great source for ppl who have 'lost' their CDs or when your at a friends house and want to record music from da puter (if you dont have the CD wif u of course)... Very cool... you da man Baz
  10. Just doubleclick or press F2 when the song you want to title is highlighted and it will allow you change the name of the song... simple. Great feature!
  11. WOW!!! Looks like this site is going to experience real bandwith problems in the next couple of days Just look at it... It has basically everything an MD user might need. Its more than just a gold mine! Enjoy downloading people...
  12. Could be just with this setup though... Thats why i asked him if he tried on a different computer or even record through the optical cable... lets see what he says and we'll work from there.

I never buy a product before checking it that it works at the store. No matter if its a no name product or a Sony. A faulty product being sold could like a small percentage of thousand to one, for example, but still i always ask the sales person to open the box and show me it works Never trust em...

    So its confirmed then, eh?
  15. Nah not region specific... they just dont have drivers full-stop. you would have to contact sony personally and ask their assistance ie. a new drivers CD. Which would be a painful process mind you
  16. Yup it comes to what i said... They are not versatile enough and the hdd players are chunky. Also the battery life is crappy. So MD is a great option atm. However, one big drawback of NetMDs is that you cannot record from just any computer but just your OWN computer. Still though the idea and the transfer rates are great...
  17. Well if its just those songs then there must be an encoding problem with those songs... Maybe SonicStage isnt working well with an AMD. This could happen really, I mean anything can happen. If you have the opportunity, why dont you try it on a different computer... maybe a friends computer. Also have you tried recording digitally from a HiFi with optical out?

But the default contrast levels is enough for you to be able to see whats on the screen. Could be just a faulty LCD screen. Not really a big problem but still a hassle as the menu are much easily accesed from the main unit rather than the remote. Btw if you cannot see anything from the screen how can he adjust the contrast at all??? That option can only be found on the MAIN UNIT and not in the menu of the remote. I think he has to take it to a repair center... How annoying dont you think. I would be damn pissed at the sales man who sold me such a product... But then again I would check it before buying Its hard to sell me a lemon
  19. Yea sometimes you just have to use the good ol trial and error method way to work out the problem... like trying new cables and in your case new media... glad you solved it. cheers BerkY
  20. I havent seen Sony have drivers on their website. At least not on their European website. Only SonicStage... I am seriously thinking of backing up the CD just in case i lose it (which is quite hard but then again anything can happen in the world we live in). And yea Sony should have drivers on their website. I think they are doing this on purpose to force ppl into buying new units rather than used units off eBay etc.

I can give you a guarantee that IT IS a FULL program... I've downloaded it
  22. What about the drivers have you tried re-installing those too? Sometimes its just the driver... I just hope I do not come across the same problem with my N910 after a year. Formatting the system also help sometimes but thats just a very big hassle!!!
  23. Dont really know about you guys but I just cant seem to like them MP3 players. They are neat, small and look cool but they are not really useful besides listening to music. MD has more features and is more versatile. You are not limited with memory either. And the media is relatively cheap! I have around 25 discs atm and that would equal to around 25*160 = 4000 minutes of music... You would need A LOT OF memory for that. Sure you cannot carry 25 discs with you all the time but you can carry a modest number of 5 which is enough. Also the battery life of MDs are much better. So MD is just better...
  24. Yes Majestic is right, the N910 is a great model. Has all the feaures of the N10 plus a better battery life (which is very important for me). As Majesitc said Sharp also have great models but I reckon Sony's service and support is better than Sharp's. Thats why i went for the Sony. Bottomline: N910 - highly recommended... Cheers BerkY
  25. Not related to the question but, Majestic, just how many units DO you have?
