I think we should get this stickied as it get asked so often. Well Sony introduced two new words to the music world when they introduced the NetMD... Check-in and Check-out. Basically what Check-out means is copying songs from the PC to the MD. And check-in means "returning back" the songs or erasing them from the MD to the PC. Now there is a very fine line here And it is a REAL hassle. Here goes: With SonicStage you can only Check-in songs that have been already checked-out to the MD. So you are limited to what you have used SonicStage to check-out. AND you cannot check-in music that you have copied on to your MD from OTHER sources than your OWN PC. You simply cannot do this because it is Sony's way to protect illegal copying of music. Since you only have 3 check-out's available for each track you can only copy it to 3 minidiscs or 3 times on the same minidisc (which would be pointless ), you have to check-in the songs back from the minidisc if you want to you can copy it to another minidisc for later use. That is if you want to be able to copy the song more than three times. SO once you use all of your 3 check-out's you CANNOT copy the song to another minidisc anymore UNLESS you check-in from one of the three minidiscs that you have copied it to earlier. I hope you get it It took me a few hours to get used to and its a pain in the arse but there is literally nothing you can do... Cheers BerkY

VOTE 1 N910... Excellent design... I am just in love with it It is just so beautiful. So neat... So cool... So brilliant. And that sexy orange colour or the blue and even that clichéd silver... It just steals my vote. My 2 cents BerkY

Well headphone amps are ok but why use them?!?!? I mean they are bulky and they cost money! For a decent headphone amp you would have to spend a decent amount and i'd rather spend that money on the miniisc and get a better model with a better output. And i am totally against modifying the minidisc unless you are an electronics engineer. you might lose the unit completely. Wouldnt want that now would you

Yea alkalines have a voltage of 1.5v whereas Ni-MH and Mi-Cd's have 1.2v. So that difference could affect the internal components and the operation of the minidisc. If it is saying you shouldnt use rechargeable batteries i dont think you should. Cos the MT270 is not a great model and its compnents might be made for only 1.5v operation. So using a 1.2v power source might damage somthing in the long run. The newer models are made for 1.2v operation as they come with a rechargeable battery in the first place. But that's what i think...

Does it do this with EVERY minidisc you put in? If so there might be something with the spining motor and as majestic said you would have to take it to a service center, which is a hassle... I just hate going to service centers cos I hate to be parted with me equipment.

Can you at all? well you should be able to do it in analog... All you have to do is connect your MD (from LINE OUT) to your soundcards LINE IN and then record the music being played in realtime on your computers recorder. I am assuming there is such a software for Mac's. If not, then you simple can't.

How previous are we talking about here? I have seen links to versions 2.0 and 2.2 around here somewhere. Though they might not support W98 either. So you might be out of luck.

Yea you have to play it real-time and record it from a HiFi system that has a digital (optical) out. I have not used my optical cable as yet since I am utterly happy with the LP2 transger speed of "so-called" 32x. Well at least its faster than real-time. But then again the quality is not SP-quality. No worries tho as LP2 is fine for me ears

Use Simple Burner to get rid off the check-in check-out business. however this does not mean that you still can check-in music recorded from other sources. It just gets around the check-in feature. And you can delete songs from the recorder with no probs... weeeeeeeeeeeee
-
Nope you simply cannot do that... To combat pirating music! You can only check-in checked-out music. thats sony for you Cheers BerkY

MZ-N505 Hack Failure...No available solutions works!Plz help
BerkY replied to judagrumme's topic in Minidisc
Thats what you get for doing things you shouldnt be doing! Looks like you have to visit a sony service center... BerkY -
err that totally sucks! Dunno not a software expert so cant really help. sowwy! BerkY

Yes but at the cost of sound quality and LP4 is shocking in terms of that... I wouldnt advise it
-
Woops I thought you were using the NE410... Havent heard of the R410... SO it doesnt have a USB connection... hmm gets trickier... Dunno if you can get around the copy control without a PC. The only way seems to use an old CD player with a optical out. that way it wont actually read the copy control as it wont know what it is But it would be cheaper for you to get a burner for the PC these days Cheers BerkY

Well you wont have to burn... You can use LAME or another program to rip the original music CD (I use Creative Playcenter 3.0) in to wav or mp3 (make sure its high quality 320kbits) and then use sonicstage to import them into sonicstage. Then all you have to do is transfer them or "check them out" to your NetMD. Simple as that... Cheers BerkY

Yea the bookmark function it is... I dont use it either. But it can come in handy when you want to listen to your fave song... Cheers BerkY

I wonder what will happen to my N910 in a couple of years time... heh... Well maybe you could try fixing the headphones in the jack by shoving in the jack with a very small piece of paper or maybe an aluminium foil (put the paper/foil where it doesnt touch the connections between the jack and the headphone connection. However, you will have to be very careful as not to let the paper/foil get to deep in the jack. It will just fix the headphone in the jack so it doesnt move out of its place and thus cut the sound. but the again if the problem is not related to the headphone jack not insulating the headphone properly then i dont know how it can be solved "quickly"... you might actually need to get the part replaced. Btw I take no responsibility if anything happens to your N707. Just suggesting a solution before getting the part replaced. cheers BerkY

No definately not a software company... Sonicstage is a shocking resource hog!!! They should have contracted the software portion out to Ahead (the masters of burning ROMS - NERO RULES!!! 8) ). Maybe then things would have been better... You know if only Sony engineers actually read this forum they would have made heaps of improvements dont ya think? Cheers BerkY

Well its good that you enjoy your purchase after all it is you that bought the product. We dont really care what you buy or what you do with it. We just try to help you solve your problems and answere yuor questions. As for mic in, its literally impossible... So you will have sell it and buy a Sony N710 (tho the euro model has a crappy 2 x 1.2mW output) or Sharp DR420 or something like that... The live recording of sharp's are more user friendly from what I have heard tho... Cheers BerkY

There was a way resetting the check-out counter in sonicstage by using MS Access 2000 and above i think... I read this somewhere. But cant remember where... hmm...
