HOWTO: S/PDIF Digital Output for MiniDisc Portables...
mdmania replied to raintheory's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
I don't know why Sony just won't put out a Hi-MD deck with everything on it. So things would be much easier for every MD user. But that is so expected of Sony though, they are always complicated. There was a mod that I was able to follow easier in the past and that was adding out put to my JE440 digital output. It was challenging and one of my first modification I have ever done. I think adding digital output to a portable seems to be more complicated. I would say adding to MD-105FX wouldn't be as complicated in my own opinion. Just a matter of finding and understanding the internal board of the unit. -
how about using simple burner 2.0? have you consider using that instead?

I have always been intrigue since I was 9 years old about each songs level at just the right with each other. Finally, Sony was able to come up with DN to satisfy my needs. I also been using mp3gain as well. But I much prefer Sony's DN since I have less step to worry about drag and drop my mp3 to mp3gain and also I am not limited to using just mp3 anymore. Recently I bought a NW-S205F because of this feature DN and I able to listen to WMA, MP3 and ATrac all together. I think Sony really did a find a job...thanks Sony!!!

Yes there is, it's called drvoid. check out drvoid.com but this only can drag and drop you mp3 files and very limited. I use SS 4.2 with mine. I did have a NW-E003 but exchange to NW-S205F recently, I love it so far and I got for 109.99 plus tax.

This feature (Dynamic Normalizer) is one of the reason why I bought the RH1 other than its upload capability. Now, it would be even cool if Sony can incorporate this feature to their portable CD player I would get one in a heart beat. I'm also a huge fan of MP3gain. I have been using MP3gain for about several years now since I learn about it and I love music even more. I am also a huge fan of crossfading (don't mean to go off a subject) but this is also a reason why I installed Rockbox on my iPod. Now I have both feature on my iPod 40gb/Nano 2gb and really enjoying listening to music more than ever.

Sony is caught up with the new bluray disc right now. I'm sure that minidisc still in their bussiness agenda but not as a priority.
-
Unfortunately there is no sighting of minidisc from CES 2007.
-
Same here, I have uploaded some of my SP disc without problem perhaps whoever it is might have a problem is gonna have issue with either the RH1 or Computer itself.

Well said...I think there is something about having a music physically in your hand, perhaps you are as old school as I am. Most youngster who didn't mix from tapes or recorded music from radio wouldn't know what I'm talking about. But anyhow, I still much prefer recording manually from my MX-D40 and pick a song from each CD's rather than just computer do it for me. I find more appreciation to my mixes that way than just picking songs using playlist on my iPod. I couldn't agree more about having shuffle mode on the RH1 too. Firmware Sony, if you are listening or reading this...thnx!

Welcome and congrats!!!

I hope to see more Hi-MD released, regardless what it is as long is minidisc related. Thanks for keeping this forum as well and maintained. Keep up the GREAT WORK! Thank you

First of all I don't have the money for the Hi-MD deck. Secondly I like the feature on RH1 that can actually normalized and level each track automatically from different CDs. That is the most important feature for me. I don't think the onkyo has this feature.
-
Ok I get it now, so if the file is unrecognized or something, the RH1 automatically defaulted the conversion to 320kbps...thnx!
-
I have an RH1 and transferred some MP3 files using SS 4.2 and I noticed that all of this are transferred at 320kbps after. My original files have various file size, so my question is why SS is converting this file again to 320kbps. Can I just transfer MP3 files without reconverting it again? TIA
-
Wow! I thought there for a minute that you were wishful thinking but after seeing the mini blue ray it could be very well be a minidisc blue ray in the near future. I can think of a brand name "Sony MZ-BR1" with optical output of course.
-
welcome to minidisc world. Always glad to see a new comer.
-
Also if shuffle can be set on the unit itself instead of relying on the remote and maybe the sound setting as well, since I use Dynamic Normalizer normally.
-
Ok I don't know if this will make any sense but here is what I did. I started recording on my MX-D40 high speed again (CD to MD 4x speed) and made some compilation. Take a note that this is in SP mode. So I transferred this to SS 4.2 using RH1 recorder, and after transfer files are now in OMA files. Then I hook up my N505 to PC and in SS 4.2 advance setting under NetMD there is an option Transfer Setting and then SP transfer mode which is slower than a Standard mode. Now the question that came to me is this, am I transferring true SP onto N505 without any further conversion within the recorder, after all this is through USB not optical input.

Is Sony Missing a Beat By Not Offering Hi-MD Options?
mdmania replied to Christopher's topic in News
You are absolutely right, Sony is probably thinking the same way as you are. There is probably not much demand for Hi-MD so a deck unfortunately is the least to be considered about. Don't get me wrong I would love to have a Hi-MD deck myself for a work horse editing purposes but Sony RH1 can now be uploaded, and edit it from there. -
I have a feeling that Sony is focusing on PS3 and Blue-Ray disc technology right now, so Hi-MD is somewhat overlook and not a priority at the moment.
-
Yes I am referring to RH1

Free Data Recovery Service for Sony Hi-MD 1GB
mdmania replied to carinou2005's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
I'm sure there is some sort of way to recover a data. Someone here will eventually find a way -
and also uploading of legacy SP, but I guess if this was your first minidisc recorder it wouldn't matter.
