I recently picked up two sealed packs of 10 Neige discs. The price was about $17.00 US for 10 discs. So I bought 2. Really good price considering. It was on Amazon.com

Will do...Thanks for the information, I appreciate it! When you say "make" are you simply referring to creating my own disc of anything?

Checked the service manual for the NH900 and 2 key points. One is the fact that it says you need software on a computer to enter service mode. I know I have seen others here use a key combination on a remote to get into the mode but have had no luck finding it for my specific unit (maybe they are the same?) Secondly it says it requires two discs. One I have read is a pre-recorded MD and the other I did not recognize. Any of you folks know how to proceed? Or at least the direction I should be heading? Thanks.

I downloaded the service manual, and in there it mentions that you need a piece of software on a computer in order to get the unit to enter service mode. I know I have seen others here enter service mode with button presses. I am looking around here for that now.

So the only real way to do it is with a prerecorded MD?

Good to know. Trolling through the forums here, it seems the Sony AC-E30A should do the trick, however. Have you had experience with it yourself? ...and no, it will not be 2.5 years again. Not that it matters much, that's a promise.

Thanks for the information. I have been using mine as well from around the same time and I often wonder if my converter is part of the problem. I wonder it screwed with the power. I may have to have it serviced at some point soon. Trouble now is finding a good converter/adapter somewhere. Thanks again!

Sorry...wasn't asking again...just adding to my point is all. thanks!

Thanks...The only difference I noted is the amperage. Aus version is 1A and the US version is 500mA. Will this cause a problem? Would the ES3010K2 work without a problem? I just don't want to fry my recorders. Thanks in advance.

Oh my...It has been so long...I am so sorry for not responding! Actually, the display and everything else about the unit is fine. And this does not happen all the time nor with all discs. Just some. And some, the player gives me a read error.

Good morning folks. I was wondering if there are any fellow NH900 owners out there (hopefully who own or know) that know the model number for the US power adapter that came with it? I have an Aus model that I bought years ago (using a converter (bad) and I just bought a used one on eBay from the UK. I really want to avoid converting because it's really hard to find a quality product that does it well. I have the adapter from my 510 standard MD which seems to match the specs but I'm not sure I want to take the chance in using it. Thanks in advance.

Would you mind tellin who you purchased them from?

Good morning all. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a new USB cable for my 900. The rubber is disintigrating around the connectors (not really sure why.) It is getting tacky and then eventually it just falls off. I know there is a difference between the cables because I once tried to use my standard MD cable for my 900 and had all kinds of problems. Any help would be terrific. Thanks!

NH900 Read Error - but plays all pre-recorded immediately
AVITWeb replied to punkrockaddict's topic in Minidisc
I don't mean to hyjack, but I have similar issues with my unit. It very speratically reads regular MDs. HIMD it has no problem with... Is there someone who actually repairs here on the forum? (am I reading this correctly?) -
I'm in the US. Thanks for the info guys!

Thanks for the reply. Actually it happens on standard MDs when "burned" in MD mode not HiMD. But the funny part is that the disc I was listening to today, it happened for the first few tracks and then i was able to listen to the rest of the disc. How would one get the power "adjusted?" Is this a send in for service thing?

Hey guys. Wondering if anyone has hit this before. I own an MZ-NH900...great machine.. But I have been having problems lately with it not being able to read standard recording MDs. It works flawlessly with HiMDs or standard discs recorded in Hi. Most often it will not be able to read the disc or it will play 2 to 3 seconds of a song at a time. Like its having a problem reading the surface. My standard MD player will play them with no problem at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

What are you asking for the NH900?
-
Definitely interested if it is the NH900 Or even if its the 910!
-
Where did you pick them up?
-
It doesn't have a cool flashy touchscreen, silly! Besides...what really marks the end (which I hope never comes) is the fact that these people listen to their music sounding like crap (They don't know what its SUPPOSED to sound like) and they blow their ears out! As they get older, they hear less and listen to even worse crap...so you see it is a never ending cycle... Long Live MD!!!

Well i can tell you this much. My 900 has the juice to drive my Sony monitor headphones EXTREMELY well. I will more than bet that an MP3 would just not have the ability to do it properly.

I agree completely! If only I had the cash! The sound quality far and away exceeds anthing out there! And the fact that I do not have to sync constantly or build playlists is also a plus. (Just grab a disc and go!) I still to this day do not understand why people settle for the lackluster performance of Mp3 players. Nothing bothers me more than listening to something at 128Mbps!
