  1. Not a film - but a recent ad for EVEREADY or some other brand of batteries has a girl sporting an NH600.
  2. Use the optical out of your PC's sound card. (assuming you have a Pc with cd-drive and optical out). You'll have to put in the track marks manually tho, but you will get a digital recording. Another method would be to burn a copy of your CD without the copy-control protection. Some CD-Burners ignore the encrypted TOC when reading the disc, and you can usually rip these CDs to your hard disk without any problems. Otherwise, you can try using Exact Audio Copy (google it) to manually detect the TOC of the disc in order to bypass the copy-protect technology.

    3rd Gen

I would like to be able to be able to flip the front panel of the unit back a full 180 degrees, and use the internal optical laser pickup to fry an egg.
  4. I think the pink E630 with the WHITE remote and matching EX51s is WAAAYYY cuter. Then again, the Sony stock photos really don't do any justice to the units - the E630 looks more like a mulberry than a pick, while the 720 looks kinda bronzy. (Geez, I wish MD was more popular outside of Japan - they should be selling MDPs @ supermarket checkouts by now...)
  5. I believe you need to get the latest version of "M-Crew" for Windows XP. How about here? http://www.sony.net/Products/homeaudio/m_c...own_m_crew.html Hope that helps.
  6. I like the blue & black ones. Does anyone know if these can do gapless?
  7. Another tip: SonicStage can also read CD-Text information.

    Why O Why!

Eh? MDLP support should be listed under the specs of each unit... If a review doesn't include a table of specs you can just look them up in the Equipment Browser here (it has pretty much every MD unit ever made) or just look them on the manufacturers official website. Do some research... turn that frown... upside down.
  9. No, NOT AT ALL! The N10, owing to it's ultra-small size (small IC, internal built-in battery, etc) has completley different internals to the N910. The build of the two devices is completley different.
  10. Yes there are MD players available for cars. You can find the names/model numbers here in the minidisc.org Equipment Browser. There is no such thing as "NetMD" player for cars - all NetMD is is a standard for MDLP recorders to hook up to computers - a bit silly to hook up your car MD player to your PC! What you need is just an "MDLP compatible" MD player for you car. You can download your music using your NetMD Walkman, and then play the music back in your car.
  11. The petition you refer to is poorly written. It is given that SonicStage has some issues that would benefit from being addresed - and yes, there are some serious inconsitencies about the way Sony operates in its totality as a global corporation in various fields, but this guy sounds as if she/he is just having a rant. Sony MAY pay attention to serious, thoughtful and above all, WELL DOCUMENTED efforts to petition them to change/ammend the operation of their software, but I seriously doubt they'll heed pure ranting.
  12. It's a limitation of the Minidisc system itself - has nothing to do with SonicStage. You must be using LP4 though, to squeeze that many tracks onto one disc (either that, or very short tracks). Dare I suggest using LP2 instead?
  13. Looks hot! I saw that model in the Sony-Style store here in Chapel St. once. BTW, that's a really great website I see your visiting...

    Minidisc Dream

I once dreamed about what the 2nd gen Hi-MD models were like way before the actual release. (But I'm an old-skool MD user!!!!!) Can't remember if they were anything like the real thing in my dream. Probably not.
  15. Alternativley, you can use Marcs renderer (available via these forums) to convert your OpenMG files to WAV.
  16. ... yet CD players boast full uncompressed PCM playback @ 16 bit, 44kHz!
  17. Thanks for the usless comment Clocker. Note that an E410 is a "download-only" unit - you can only put music on the unit via the PC. Other MD units have line in and even mic in jacks. Be advised that you can't put MP3 tracks on your unit - well, you can, but they have to be converted into ATRAC (the Minidisc format) first.
  18. Funny thing I just discovered about the EMI copy-control discs - some of them have SCMS, and some don't... I chucked one disc into my MD bookshelf, and get a "no-copy" error. I chuck a later disc BY THE SAME ARTIST in, and it can dub without a problem... strange... Anyhow, the SCMS and Cd-copy protect was easily defeated by me. Just ripped the tracks to WAV in nero, and then burned a new disc!
  19. I definatley think Sony would benefit from taking a good hard look at this list. We should compile a complete list of definate bugs & annoyances (that's BUGS & annoyances people, not things on our wishlist) and send it off to Sony. I'm sure they would sit up and take notice - I'm sure these problems could be rectified in a later version of SonicStage 3.
  20. Forgive me for making an utterely useless comment (if there ever was one) - but this doesn't sound very encouraging - especially since you've followed all the releveant instructions which have seemed to work fine in the past. I hope the problem can be solved...
  21. Would an appropriate analogy be to compare audio to pictures - where the bit depth of an audio track is the number of colours available, and bit rate is analogous to the resolution of the image?

    E510

I'm not sure if they sell the E510 or any MDPs (except the E10) in Europe. If it's a recent european model, chances are it will be limited. If the model is from Japan, it will be the full 5mW.
  24. As you probably already know, the latest offerings are the MZ-E630, and 730 - upgrades of the 620 and 730 respectivley. The 630 is certainly very stylish (as is it's younger sibling, the 620), and comes with a *WHITE* 33EL remote with matching white short-cord EX51s. I love my 620, it's great bang for your buck especially with the included phones so the 630 is a one i'd recommend. The 730 is essentialy the same deal as the 720. They both have the high-def amp!!! Personally, I prefer the style of the 730 to the 720.
  25. What about those keyrings you can get with the LED in them? You know, the ones you use to find your keyhole when you're stumbling home late at night?
