  1. no problem. in the meantime, why not discuss the content of those disks ? -ok, i know surprise, but we could roughly define the area or sth. like, i'm gonna basically stick to that non-gangsta-hiphop-default, that´s a pretty wide field already. -are you ok with non-english raps ? (that is german, french) -turntableism ? or how about some rather electronic stuff, café del mar style or more drum 'n base wise ? i got lots of music, so it's hard to decide, wanna help me ? got impatient whilst waiting, -now i had to reveal at least that much..
  2. awww... i hav just installed the english version, (5 miutes ago) and then you have to come with this ! -same quesion as Kurt, did it work ?
  3. 1600x1200pixels 22,2x16,6 inches 72dpi rgb 8bit per channel = 24bit depth it seemed to upload, but then stopped for no reason, saying nothing. ->original picture
  4. what i did: -recorded all sorts of water sounds (boiling, cracking of ice cubes, bubbling etc.) -editing to single sounds using soundforge -arranging and fx and stuff in reason -normalising, basic mastering and rip to mp3 in soundforge again. since it's a house track, i had do include a bass (synthi/malström) and two bd samples (808 bd and one other i don't know where it's from) everythig else is (fxed) water sounds. enjoy !
  5. huh, then it must be sth different causing problems, the original pic is only 124kb big but simply wouldn't upload. edtited one is 72kb and worked fine
  6. posted a new one, check ! umm, where is the filesize limit ? it took me forever to figure out that my pic was too big to upload, since there's no failure notice..
  7. and the write protection slider is in the right position, right ?
  8. lcd monitor, because i want a doublescreen desktop for music production and my 15" panel is fairly aged... i think there's no point in this poll, because you should have your own reasons for making a wish, not someone else's
  9. texta - so oder so -german (austrian) rap music. aesop rock - fast cars, danger, fire and knives -actually an ep, but comes with a 88 paged booklet containing the lyrics of 5 projects of AR.

    Fresh Ears !?!

-nothing illegal, only nakhla peppermint tobacco. -that shouldn´t affect my hearing, right ?

    Fresh Ears !?!

yeah, i just returned to my flat in Karlsruhe, where i study (haven´t been there for a month or so) and found out that by not being able to listen to really high quali music, my analytic hearing has improved pretty much. when i listen to my beats now, i can exactly tell whats 'wrong' with the mix n stuff.. this is so great, but it feels totally strange. like i´ve never listened to music before. it has happened to me before, but it was never THAT strong. any experiences with this ? -i would like it to stay, but i fear, i´ll just get used to it again...
  12. jupp, waiting is fine, as i said, i´m at my parents for now.. i´m thinking about postage/shipping, could, but doesn´t have to be 'difficult', since i´m from germany and you seem to be from the u.s. -ok, surprise package, but only one album per artist, agree ? *have to quit talking, before i spoil the surprise...* get that nh900, i love it ! -and have fun on dat spring break..
  13. yeah, my old sharp had that, too. once i experimented around with different powersupplies, if the power was too much, he would turn out "POWER ?" in the diplay. that unit was too cool anyways, always said "welcome" and "goodbye" to me...

    Charging

i´ve been wondering about this as well... i THINK it is only charging, when the unit is off, and 'charging' is blinking. -because, if the unit plays (while connected to the dc adaptor) for a while, and it shut it off, pressing 'stop' twice, it starts charging. this wouldn´t be the case if it was already charging whilst playback.
  15. hi, i don`t know your unit, if it´s 'old school-md', there is a way to recover your recording, as far as you haven´t recorded on that disc since that happened. -you can do a toc clone. however this operation might require you to modify your unit. the idea behind this is: md is made up of two parts, the toc and the audio data. so you insert a disk into your unit with one single track, that takes the full length of it. then you change the disk without your unit to notice it (that´s why to modify) and insert your disc with the lost recording. do some title editing or whatever, (so the toc needs to be re-written) and let the unit switch off by itself. then the damaged disc should have this one single track in its toc, and be playable. long story short: the trick is, to change the disc, without the unit to notice it, the rest is easy.. do a forum search for your unit + toc clone, or search minidisc.org, they have a lot of info on that, i think.. but i don´t know if it can be done with your unit. hope that helps..
  16. sounds like fun to me, where you from ? other things to be cleared: sound format (i´d suggest hi-sp) erm... should we talk about what exactly we put on those disks, or rather take the 'surprise package' ?* anyways, i´m at my parents right now (semester holidays) and therefore away from my main 'music database'. *edit: on second thought, we could just post lists of what we were going to trade, and the other one could then exclude what he already has/dislikes.
  17. Hi, well, to be honest, i don´t think that there will be firmware upgrades for first gen units anytime soon. -but of course you did not waste your money, nh900 is still a great piece of hardware, and when it comes to backward compatibility, it´s even superior to 2nd gen. is native mp3 playback really that important to you ? you said you were satisfied with the sound quality so far, so why bother ?
  18. depends... i prefer to have a physical equivalent of my 'metaphysical' music data, in a sense of "hmmm.. what am i gonna listen to now ? -ah see, my nice orange disc with the slamming recording of a house-dj set, that´s it !" or a " hey, what´s on that disk? -pop it in and find out !", instead of endlessly browsing through directories, finding nothing you really want to listen to.(happens to me a lot, when i listen to music on my pc) and you forgot to mention, that if your 20gb ipod is full, it´s full. you´ll have to delete stuff. on md, you just buy another pack of disks, and you´re fine. but i couldn´t agree more on a bigger variety of hi-md blanks, c´mon, there´s only 1 (one!) single type, how many different md blanks are there ? 100 ? that´s more like it.
  19. yeah, my suggestion would be : SimpleBurner + Filebrowser
  20. hah, that´s funny, i once had that impression too, but it turned out, that the unit was swinging too much. ---> thread -you two wouldn´t happen to have transferred vbr mp3 via SS2.3 or lower to your md ? (not supported) that has caused gaps on my md too (probably whenever the bitrate changes ) i don´t know for shure how it is with SS3.0 and 1rst gen units, haven´t tried it yet..
  21. well, this is my secondary setup, 'at my parents' my unit, +phones, +disc case [attachmentid=122] and a pair of CHEAP active speakers, they´re ok, let away the lack of bass and the static humm they give, even if they´re switched off. [attachmentid=123]
  22. my solution to this is: 2 partitions for 2x winxp, with the fewest important data possible, if one of them fails, still have the other one to back up. then i format and reinstall, and i´m fine. 1 data partition/drive for storage. however, recently my hdd has not much place left, and i don´t want to delete stuff, so i have to use one of the win partitions for storage until i got the money to buy me a new one. but i REALLY have to make a backup, too. it would hurt so much to loose my 6-years grown sample library, and all of those reason songs... how ist this win64-beta, btw ?

    Linux @ Ipod

    ->source why-o-why didn´t he get a Hi-md for chrismas ?
  24. welcome... have you already tried the search ? there is a hack for increasig the output volume (headphone/line out, NOT usb) of european 1rst gen hi-md units. =>link. however the volume of the usb-transfer can´t be hacked. this because usb is used to transfer audio- files/data and those files will always have the volume they were recorded at. you can either record at a higher level (press pause whilst rec, enter the menu, and change the rec level, auto gain is not (yet) hackable), or you transcode your transferred oma files to wav using the sony tool or marcnet´s himdrenderer, and normalize them in the audioeditor of your choice. greetz from germany.
